“An oasis of five-star service.”
Reviewed August 2, 2011

I don't really know if my experience was typical as I was one of the earliest guests at this establishment, but if it was, you will be in for the treat of a lifetime should you decide to stay here.

Essentially, Dammika has integrated 5-star hotel service with high quality premises and the result is stunning. This place is expensive when compared to typical guest house pricing, although it isn't very much above the local average but when compared to hotel prices, it's a bargain and possibly offers better accommodation and service than all but the very expensive.

Food was excellent. There was no set menu when I stayed there, but I was consulted at breakfast time (Silver Service, incidentally) as to what I might like to eat for the evening meal and at what time, then there it was – perfectly cooked and served by a waiter who would not have been out of place at any upmarket hotel restaurant.

Nuwara Eliya itself doesn't seem to offer much to the uninformed tourist but Dammika and his staff are an absolute goldmine of local information and had I not already committed to other destinations I could have quite happily whiled away an extra 2 or 3 days here.

my partner and i had a truly memorable stay at the misty hills, nuwara eliya. the 4 bedroom cottage was outstanding, fully selfcontained as well as tastefully and immaculatly furnished. the views of the surrounding mountains and tea plantation were supurb. misty hills is a few kilometres out of town, this is an advantage as it was quiet and serene. there is a tuk tuk and driver to take you where ever you want to go, so getting around is no problem. the food supplied was delicious and the service sensational. the owner Dammika has established a 5 star service experience, with the help of his devoted staff members - Sunart and Morelli

we took a driver from kandy, as it was getting late in the day, this was recommended by the owner of "the orchard guest house, kandy", where we stayed the previous three nights - good advise, as well as a terrific place to stay in Kandy.

visiting Sri Lanka for the first time was quite an adventure for me. i went there to get away from the hustles and bustles of the city life in Dubai and was looking for a real adventure. I've been told about Misty Hills by some frequent travelers and said it's a place worth to visit, especially that its location is ideal because the sceneries of green mountains and tea plantation fields just perfectly add to the whole sri lanka experience. The cottage house in misty hills is like a home away from home, the staffs were really so attentive and accomodating. We enjoyed the cozy living room and the complimentary wi-fi service, as well as the fresh air coming from the cool misty surroundings. The stay was so comfortable, bedroom designs are truly fascinating! It's more like just having a vacation to your own beautiful house because of the 'at-home' experience. Food is served with great hospitality and mind you, here is where the best local dishes are found! Even if it was just my first time in Misty Hills, I can confidently say that they offer superb menu which overall along with the entire accomodation experience are truly very good value for the money. It's also very amazing how flexible they are with their guests requests, and are so friendly! We actually had so much fun! There was a personalized day-tour that was arranged for us and visited a famous tea factory nearby, the beautiful waterfalls, and a quick shopping in the town which was just a few minutes away from the cottage house.
Of course we look forward to coming back to Misty Hills Nuwera Eliya and hopefully next time will be for a longer stay so that we'd be able to experience the tours and safaris that are also arranged their in Misty Hills.
I would certainly recommend Misty Hills to everyone visiting Sri Lanka! It maybe a 5 -hour drive from Colombo, the country's city, but it surely is all worth it! For me, Sri Lanka holiday will never be complete again without staying at Misty Hills.
