“little england 6000ft high in sri lanka”
Reviewed October 31, 2011

this was a surreal area to visit on our way from Tangalle to Kandy through the hill country. it is at an elevation of 6000ft in the srilankan mountains. you can immediately see the change in scenery and buildings when entering. it is full of english and scottish style manor houses and restaurants and has one of only two glof courses in sri lankan. it was a surreal experience coming from the usual style of srilankan scenery to this british feel area. a must for anyone travelling through the hill country.

“Good for nature lovers and hindu temple lovers”
Reviewed September 15, 2011

This place takes entire day and you can cover below good things

- While travelling in car you will get very fantastic views, in some points you will feel like to get down from car and take some snaps

- Play nice soft, sooding and romantic songs and enjoy your travel with good sceneries (water fall, trees and nice greenery)

- Tea plantations, get down there and take some snaps.

- Visit Tea company and go through the entire process of making tea, buy some tea if interested, and you can drink over there as a trial before buying (but you need to pay for the trial, not expensive)

- One central market is there which comes while going to the Temple Ashok Vatika, there in the market you can get down and you can buy dresses and other things (we have bought Indian Lady dresses i.e. sarees, it was economical) , also you can get nice variety of foods as well.

- Then after reaching the Temple Ashok Vatika, visit the same and taken some snaps, over there you will find then India has also donated money to the temple.

- Ravan’s kingdom was near to this place only, in fact you Guide can show the location of the same from this temple, but at the moment nothing is there in that kingdom area.

Negative aspects, nature (waterfalls) are not that good which you one excepts and also if you are not keen about historical hindu temples then there is nothing much.

“Thank god we didn't stay”
Reviewed January 22, 2010

Popped into this hotel as it was recommended in the lonely planet for a nice place for a drink in the freshly built alpine lounge bar with stunning views ect,. In reality it looked like a desolated hotel with barely any staff to help. We were eventually seen wandering around admiring the crappy looking xmas tree in reception and pointed to the bar. We hung about for ages in the empty room with misty views until a wheezing fellow lumbered upstairs and asked us what we would like. "2 beers please" we answered. "OK" say's man and disappeared. Not behind the bar to give us our ice cold beers but to get 2 glasses which seamingly were on the other side of town. 20 -25mins later (i kid you not) he huffs and puffs his way up the stairs finally give us our beers. We drank up, paid (which is another epic story itself) and fled at high speed. God help whoever stays here !
