I have stayed here on a number of occasions over the years and always found it comfortable and friendly. Not this time though. They said they were under new management. Well in that case, it is of very poor quality.
We are a group of 5, two couples and a single. We wanted to check out our rooms and bathrooms before a meal, and one of my friends who was German went to the bathroom to have a look around. When she noticed that the shower was faulty she told management about it. They accused her of breaking it. We had not been there for more than 10 minutes - there was no time to have a shower after bringing our luggage in. We were so disappointed by their confrontational attitude that we all just left.
Such a shame because previously, we've had such good service.

Room Tip: The ground floor room is rather nice, although the ones on the top floors aren't bad either.

Well, we did not have many options to choose from, but staying at that hotel for a night was not the best pick.
Positive: the guy on the reseption was pretty good and accurate.
Kitchen is not bad as well, if you are up to visit Horton plains on the sunrise they will pack you a breakfast.
Negative:
Location too far from the city, the only way to get there is by car or tt.
Cleaness: everything in the room dirty as it can be.

Worst hotel we have stayed at! There was water dripping from a leak in the ceiling onto the bed and floor, mould on the walls, a constant leak coming from the toilet, a constant musty smell and filth. The dinner we had was delicious, but it took them 1 hour and a half to make. The staff were very friendly, but completely inept at running a hotel. We changed hotels first thing in the morning and spent 4 more nights elsewhere. At 4000 Rp a night, avoid at all costs!

This hotel has promise, but unfortunately the young men down in the counter are not being properly supervised; meaning customer service goes out the window. Facebook is always on their computers and guest get short-shrift. The manager on duty one day blew us off in our face about a simple question on exchange rates and walked out of the room. Later on in the evenings, the place fills up with noise as young men gather. I would recommend giving this hotel a pass, if you don't want to be bothered.

We were offered one of two rooms, a tiny attic room or a slightly less tiny one on the floor below. We took the lower one. While the building itself has plenty of character, and the views form the balconies are very nice - everything else is awful. The sheets and bedding were damp, the room smelled of mildew, toilet paper and towels weren't provided, the walls were so thin you could hear every snore and fart from the nieghbours, there was no heat, the carpet was stained and had a big iron burn near the bed, the staff were out on the patio till the small hours making noise ...
The restaurant was no better - we ordered soup, noodles and deviled chicken - the window into the kitchen showed the soup as being ready but the kitchen mysteriously empty, so i went and got it for my girlfriend before it got cold. The rest was brought out minutes apart from being prepared so the chicken was chilled and the noodles hot, by the time the chicken had been taken back to be reheated the noodles were cold (the restaurant was cold enough to steam your breath, this turned out to be largely due to the broken window carefully obscured by a curtain), I'm pretty sure the food there was the cause of the upset stomach that prevented our planned climb of Adam's Peak the next night.
The staff seem to be young lads with no real concept of how to run the place, almost like kids left behind to run the business while their parents are out of town. They seemed totally flustered by the idea of having to provide breakfast for a total of nine guests. Our stay was organised as part of a tour and we refused to pay the full price for that hotel.
They have internet, but to use it you'll have to ask whoever is behind the front desk to stop facebooking for a few minutes so you can use the computer.
Also, they have satellite TV.

Room Tip: Try a different hotel

We took our lead from the trusted 'Lonely Planet', booked a double room at the 'Rising Lion' that was actually advertised in the 'Mid-range' section (!!) and looked forward in anticipation to a couple of nights in the tea hills. When we arrived at the hotel after a six hour bus journey from Dambulla, we were told the hotel was full even though our name was clearly written in the register. A young boy looked at us blankly whilst another 'shady looking' who had followed us from the bus station tried to get us in another 'hotel' that was actually his friend's house. After trying in vain to find another hotel - literally not a room anywhere, we were forced to stay in a 'spare' room at the 'Rising Lion' which consisted of a filthy matress, dirty carpet, stained sheets and a broken wardrobe door. There was nothing nice about the experience. We slept with all of our clothes on and did not enjoy using the staff bathroom that was made available to us. The noise was an issue, as was the damp and we didn't feel particularly secure. A terrible place.

We have reservation for this hotel and arrive and went to the room. Great view to Nuwara Eliya. But the room was dirty with spots in the carpet' smeels mold' the linen was with yellow spots and no towels in the room. We asked for change of the linen and towels. The boys was gentle and changed only the upper sheet by another with same spots yellow. Towel they said that is in laundry and will come only by nigth. We got out and looked for another hotel more clean. The manager was not there only the staf.I was surprised because they have good review in the Lonely Planet
