“Friendly staff, excellent food”
Reviewed July 20, 2012

Spent one night at the Trevenne with our 2 boys. Lovely, wooden rooms with great comfy beds. Beautiful garden, manager and owner very friendly and helpful. Excellent food. Only down side was that it seemed to be lights out at 8.30 and when we asked for coffee after our evening meal at 8.15 was told the cook had already gone home. The lights literally went out at 8.30. Having said that, we had a great stay and would go back again.

mistyvilla is the best you can get in N eliya. The rooms are huge and clean and comfortable. Service excellent! Food excellent!! Host amazing!! The owner of the bnb is the most amazing person you would come across on your Sri Lankan holiday. This place it's usually booked all around, book in advance.

Pros: full of fresh flowers which is beauthiful

Cons: electic wire is to old so often electricity stop

Hot / cold water simply switch in between without warning. We had a room with a bath so that was the only way to have a shower but not all rooms have it.

Noise: you can hear people talk ot tv at the kitchen, outside your window and corridor

Breakfast : simple continental

Summary: looks great in photos but need a serious work of moderation

We had a lovely journey in Sri Lanka, the people, the food, the accommodation until we got to The Trevene.

We arrived and saw exactly what we saw on the photos, beautiful old colonial house that looks like a church. Inside it was full of fresh flowers from the garden, I wowed. we stooped in front of a small reception desk and after filling the forms he simply turned his chair around to a door behind him and opened it. Room 104 is literally behind the reception desk.

Inside the room was big but dark, i go to the window and open it only to see, smell and hear the kitchen!!!.

their best room, 104, is squeezed between a reception desk and the kitchen. no real window nor view.

I asked to change room and the owner appeared, a young Sri Lankan women who seemed to be surprised by my request. it is our best room she said.

I told her about my noise sensitivity (Staff were going in and out through the kitchen door talking loud and carrying heavy boxes and the phone kept on ringing at reception desk).

She simply didn't seemed to care. I said I cannot stay in a room without a window light and she said that this isn't The grand Hotel!!! I couldn't believe my ears, her attitude was simply wrong.

At this point I lost it from her nonchalant attitude and asked my money back. She simply refused.

After 20mins she knocked on my door suggesting t give me back 50% of the money if I want to leave now (I think she had a couple asking for a room). I said I am willing to leave if I get all my money back, she refused. 5mins later another knock, asking if I eat dinner indoors - I refused. We did go to the Grand hotel and had a lovely dinner there.

Throughout the evening the electricity stopped every time we switch on several items at once due to an old electricity wiring.

We stayed here for 1 night in April, the room we stayed in was really big, comfy bed and hot water! The staff seemed really nice especially Sidney. Its in a nice location overlooking the area.
Its pricey but you can haggle on the price, we did :)
only complaint was that breakfast wasnt great

Room Tip: we stayed in the room on the left as you go in to reception, was really nice.
