“Worst Holiday Place that we have stayed so far!”
Reviewed April 25, 2014

We paid Rs.30, 000 to the Silver falls hotel's bungalow (known as waterfall bungalow) facility to accommodate 14pax (10 Adults + 4 kids). The bungalow was advertised via Lanka Holidays website with pictures, looked satisfactory (this is adjoining the hotel – same management). We called the manager many times (3-4 days) prior to booking to confirm, and make necessary arrangements as he insisted, we settled the full payment before 3 days i.e. before leaving Colombo. We clearly informed the Manager the packs count and stressed that if the path to the bungalow was safe and friendly for senior citizens, because our mom (70+) was suffering from the aftermath of an accident and finds it difficult to walk on unlevelled and steep tracks. Not only the manager ensured the path was good, he also said it’s the only bungalow in nuwara eliya opposite a waterfall and bragged.
With all great hopes we reached the bungalow at 4.00pm. We reached late and tired due to mismanaged traffic jam caused by road closures (seasonal races), and to add to that the hotel/bungalow manager was not being helpful guiding us on the detour with his blunt and rude answers. We are positive he knew about this all along. Ones we reached there, we realized we can’t drive our van up the steep road (30-50mtrs) to the bungalow from the main road, mom walking up was not an option either. So we hired a tuk tuk to transport my elderly mother along with the bags from the main road to the bungalow entrance and got her to slowly climb many steep stairs which are not friendly for senior citizens. The bungalow management and maintenance was shocking - unfriendly (there was no one to welcome us nor was there a welcome drink or a cup of tea), ,unsafe (there were no bolts for the doors and quite open for an outsider to see inside), unhygienic with below average facilities (e.g. no cutlery, no fridge, no gas cooker, broken pantries, broken door locks, loose electrical wires and sockets, useless lighting, dirty carpets and broken ceiling - (please see the images uploaded by me to get an idea). there were no Cooks nor proper facilities for us to cook, which means we are left with the option to order from hotel and for that they charge heftily. Shockingly we found only 4 bedrooms (sheets and pillows stained) - We had beds to accommodate only 6 people contrary to what was promised to accommodate 14 packs. We then had to cramp in to just spend the rest of the day and leave ASAP. The children's room had 1 broken bunk bed which is completely unsafe for children. The 2 bathrooms for the entire bungalow were worse, had a strong stench and the taps were broken. The manager did not speak with us till 8pm although we insisted to speak with him many times so we can resolve this amicably - they refused to refund, we were also told the owner has no time to speak with us. We left early morning at 7am to another bungalow after writing a letter to the management in vain. And last but not the least you won’t have a privacy as anyone and everyone walks in, on their free will through the kitchen doors.
This was the worst bungalow we had ever been to and we were cheated with lies and deception.

Please don’t go to this place ever. We are planning to lodge a complaint to the consumer authorities.

I booked this hotel through my Travel Agent in April 2014. They supposed to give us Buffet Breakfast , but they gave only bread and Jam. To use the WIFI you have to sit in the Manager Lap. Lot of Mosquitos. Please do not book this Hotel. If you want cheap experience try this.

Room Tip: Do not go here.

Silverfall hotel is medium size hotel in Nuwaraeliya with wonderfull view from the room we stayed. It was avery cold time when we stayed. They have good heating system and 24hrs hotwater facilities.Food was ok, the guy who responsible for the restaurant is very helpfull. Its a good budget hotel closest to the city centre. But they should take little attention in room maintenance.

Where to start...Nuwara Eliya is beautiful, and this hotel was quite interesting. After driving down a long, very bumpy road, we arrived to what looked like a castle. There were many castle like steps we took to get to our rooms...no they don't have a dungeon (I asked haha!) The room was decent and clean as well as the bathroom. Our rooms had enclosed balconies that overlooked a small waterfall (it sounded like it was raining outside which was neat). The staff was nice and courteous, but they spoke limited to no English. We really like Looshan, the man that tended the front desk. His English was much better and he was really helpful and sweet. Overall, this place had an almost mystical/mysterious feel to it. We liked it, but the food wasn't so great. There were very few people at the hotel, so I think they don't serve alot of food (so I don't think the food is fresh).
NOTE: If you can't climb alot of steps, this hotel is not for you. Also, it can get pretty chilly at night, so you may want to bring a sweater and socks to sleep in.

we stayed there 5 nights of 16 nights of our stay in Nuwara Eliya and it was a very nice place. it's just 2 km from town area and they have done good job on renovating the hotel. rooms were very comfortable and warm. bed sheets and towels were cleaned. hotel over looks a Tea Estate, Green Mountains, Forest and a very beautiful water fall. it is a very calm place and we wish we found this hotel earlier than we did, so then we could have get a chance to spend some more time with Nature and rest our self after 2 weeks traveling in wild life national parks in Sri Lanka.
hotel staff is really helpful and food was excellent at Cozies restaurant in Hotel Silver falls.
on our way back to colombo we took train and it was only 4 km to railway station from there. this hotel is a ideal hotel for train travelers as the man who runs the hotel is always more than happy to help guest with low rate transportation. oh the price we got is Rs 6500 per double room on BB Basis. this is a place every traveler should stay at least one night.

Room Tip: room number twenty five is good room with a huge view.

Thanks be to god for the sun shinny whether with a small drizzling atmosphere at the time we reach Nuwara Eliya, but unfortunately the Nanu oaya road was very terrible due to road maintenance. It was easy to find the location and we reach there surprise it was a very nice view opposite the hotel.
I booked the hotel bungalow through Mr. Asanga on early December 2012 as my brother was willing to stay in Nuwara Eliya after his arrival from Canada and it was quite organized. Well, the bungalow seems alright with a Living area, a small dinning area, 3 Master bed rooms, 1 Bunk bed room, Small kitchen, 2 Bathrooms. Just to let you know there was no cutlery in the kitchen or any other equipment's and even a dustbin in this property until we request from the reception. We had a small BBQ dinner the day that we arrived and the staff was really helpful to
lighten up the BBQ machine with charcoal.
Overall the property was worth for money for the meantime but the service was bit poor. Anyway it was a cooling 2 days stay with NOT TOO BADDDD!!!!
