“Beautiful but overcrowded with people -locals and foreigners”
Reviewed October 28, 2011

Best time to visit now with the beautiful autumn colored trees. Great place for recreation and picnic. However, the place is super packed with people when we visited as it was during the weekends. We were caught in the traffic for hours before reaching the place and later some short time on the island before queuing for the boat ride back. The queue for the boat ride was super duper long as people stood for hours to board the boat back to the mainland.

Not recommended to go during weekends.

“Beautiful autumn scenery and very romantic”
Reviewed October 26, 2011

Go there when it's autumn, the colours of the trees are magic.
Also spent the night at the Naminara hotel inside the island, very cozy and nice, but not expensive at all (krw 77k)
Wake up early in the morning and you could get to take picture alone with no one else surrounding, as in afternoon usually it was packed by tours.
Try the chicken ginseng soup (sam gye tang) for some warm feeling during the chilly autumn season.

“Beautiful small island”
Reviewed October 15, 2011

Went there a few days ago. The photos everyone took were so beautiful. The yellow gingko tree leaves were so beautiful. I think the best time to visit would be 2nd or 3rd week of October when the foliage is so colorful.

“Summer Trees”
Reviewed October 14, 2011

It is a nice place, just to walk around to enjoy the nature. You can rent a bicycle and go round the island. Walking will take longer time. We went there on Tuesday, even that we saw lot of local and people from abroad, so better not go on weekends.

“Romantic place if you go at the right time”
Reviewed August 16, 2011

I went to Nami Island twice. Once during winter (Christmas period) a number of years ago, and another in Apr 2011 during Spring. The first time I went in Winter, it was in late afternoon (around 5-7pm) on a weekday. There were only a number of young dating couples around. A few were cycling with the girl sitting in front of the guy, just like the leading actor and actress of the hit Korean drama Winter Sonata many years back. A few were resting, and burning woods to keep warm. The whole atmosphere seems so sweet. And when you walk further in,there are the endless rows of tall leafless brown trees (I'm not sure what tree that is) which is really romantic if you walk together hand-in-hand alone with your partner. And it forms really nice backdrop for photographs.

The 2nd time I went in Spring, it was on a weekend late morning, and it was packed with tourists busy snapping photographs. Definitely no romantic atmosphere at all.

Based on my 2 contrasting experiences, I feel that it definitely depends on when you go. Have to choose a timing without all the crowds.
