We have just returned from our honeymoon for 10 nights at kuramathi. First of all we did go direct with BA, we paid a little extra for this but as a person who doesnt like flying, this is totally worth it! Upon arrival we sat in the private lounge for kuramathi guests, whilst waiting for the sea plane, this was 2 hrs wait but we were very happy and relaxed so didnt mind! free drinks in here too!
The sea plane was not quite as luxurious as we imagined but again definately worth it as i have heard that the boat transfer is quite choppy.
We paid for a deluxe beach villa and upon arrival were upgraded to a water villa, which took our breath away it was incredible.
We read lots of reviews telling you to go all inclusive, however we went full board as we dont really drink much. It worked out much better financially as you get free tea and coffee with every meal in the buffet restaurants (they dont tend to advertise this much so just ask your waiter). Overall we spent about £300 on drinks over 10 days. We drank water all day and then had wine and beer on the evenings, it was going to cost £700 to upgrade to all inclusive so this was def worth sticking with FB.
The service at the resort is impeccable, we felt like kings, the waiters and room boys cant do enough for you.
We ate out at the indian, italian and island bbq. They were all lovely, very good quality food. We had the flambe steak at BBQ and this was pricey but very nice.
We had a couples massage for $160 which was very nice out on the jetty although not as relaxing as uk massages.
If you like relaxing, good food and great service, with some amazing fish to swim with, then this is the place for you. This is the 3rd biggest island apparently and it certainly felt big, lots to do but not over crowded. We would go back in a heartbeat!

Oh and feather pillows and quilts are amazing, havent slept so well in a long time!

Room Tip: water villas are good if you can afford it alternatively the top of the island looked the best quali...

We spent 6 days in Khuramathi and were just so impressed by everything, from the friendliness of staff, especially with young kids, excellent buffet, very professional diving instructors, super kids club, and of course wonderful beach and water.
They are also trying really hard on eco-friendliness. Overall an excellent stay, with only two areas for improvement: they could provide bicycles for guests to go round the island as it is quite big instead of mini-buses and organise for earlier dinner time for kids ( at the moment it is 7.30 which is a bit late).
We definitely hope to be back ( and our children too)

Room Tip: There are a variery if rooms available, the most basic being the garden villas, then beach villas, d...

What can I say that hasn't been said already !

A-la-Carte Restaurants were all terrific - It's got to be Select All Inclusive - You'll regret it, if you don't ! Best of them was the Reef, but truthfully all were very good.

We stayed in a Beach Villa with Jacuzzi, on the Reef Side of the island. Excellent room, nice decor and facilities, and in nice quiet location, which we had requested, without too many people walking past. Some of the superior villas didn't seem very private. The only downside is the beach isn't terrific on the reef side, particularly at high tide, but we were happy as it was only 2 minutes walk to get to the other side of the island for the beach, which is stunning !

I'm not a massive fan of diving and snorkelling but the house reef was impressive. Very colourful and an easy swim if your not that confident. Bit disconcerting when a reef shark swims past, but they don't bother you.

The gardeners do a great job. The gardens on the whole island are pristine the whole time and look stunning, with beautiful flowers and fruit growing everywhere !

Some reviews have mentioned rats, but we didn't see any while we there !

Plenty of mosquitos though! We got bitten as soon as we arrived on the island. So make sure you have high strength (with Deet) repellant to hand when you arrive. After we put repellant on we didn't have many more problems apart from when we forgot to put in on.

Just a couple of minor issues, if you opt for the boat transfer, then bear in mind the boat only leaves once a day at 11.30am. Having arrived at 8.30 am we weren't too impressed about being told to wait in the Airport Terminal for another 2 hours having got through the chaos of the arrivals procedure. It took an hour to get through passport control, get your luggage and get to the transfer desk, absolute chaos. Some hotels have a lounge you can wait in but not Kuramathi.

Come on Kurarmathi, surely you can sort this out for people that don't want the seaplane transfer (my wife didn't fancy the small plane !). Either arrange more frequent transfers or get a lounge ! If you have travelled a long way then you really don't want to be waiting unnecessarily, we had already had to wait a few hours in Dubai airport for the connecting flight to maldives, so were already pretty tired.

Mahe airport is currently being upgraded so perhaps this will get sorted when the improvements are completed, but in the meantime it's a bit of a dump on the arrivals side. Departures isn't too bad though.

The only other minor issue was with booking a tennis court. The admin of this could do with sorting out please. We ended up finding we had been double booked on the next to last day. Just a minor point but I'm sure could be easily sorted out. I wasn't that bothered, but my wife wasn't too happy

To be honest I couldn't be critical of a single other thing, about the island or the hotel. Absolutely superb !

I want to just also say a big thanks to a couple of the staff.

Firstly Mohammad from the Coffee Shop and Indian Restaurant. We happened to mention that my wife had been hoping for fresh coconut, whilst we were there, and had seen loads of coconut trees on the island. Mohammad explained that the coconuts on the island were not sweet, but he offered to get my wife one the following day from another island. He actually got us 2 and refused to take any money from us for them.(I did give him a good tip later). That's what I call customer service !!

Secondly, thanks to Nisam from the Reef restaurant. Knowledgable, enthusiastic and a great laugh. He really made both of our visits to the Reef thoroughly enjoyable. Make sure you go for that day’s catch to get really fresh fish.

To be honest all of the staff throughout the resort were great, friendly and a credit to the hotel.

All in all, a great resort with great food and terrific service. We will definitely go again.

Room Tip: I'd avoid the Garden Villa's as they didn't look that impressive. Apart from that just d...

We have just returned from 2 weeks in kuramathi and although the weather wasn't great we loved it.
We also went here last year but lots of improvements have been made.
The food in all restaurants is awesome and menus have been updated since last year.
The new restaurant duniye is brilliant. The wagyu beef is stunning.
The reef also now offers local catch of the day that you can choose from a display cabinet. There are lots of locally caught different fish to try.
The staff here are amazing and bend over backwards to help you all the time.
In particular hassan in the Laguna bar was great and kept my cocktail glass full all night every night !!!
We stayed in a delux beach villa which was in a stunning location with a lovely patch of beech directly Infront of it that got the sun all day.
Overall the food and drink on offer here is second to none and the management clearly don't rest on their laurels and are striving to make improvements year after year.

I have already booked to go back next year !!!!!!
Any questions don't hesitate to ask and I will try to answer for you

Stayed here for 12 nights and thought it was wonderful, nice size island to walk around. We upgraded on the food and could not fault the restaurants and the staff could not do enough for you. The villa was spotless and clean with a view through the trees to the sea. Can't wait to go again, loved the sea plane from Mali and seeing all the islands as we flew in.

We have just come back from our honeymoon where we spent 7 nights in an overwater bungalow with Jacuzzi in Kuramathi. Kuramthi is a slice of paradise in the Indian Ocean. The villa was spotless and private on both sides. The staff were very freindly and helpful. It is amazing waking up to the sound of the waves crashing against your villa. An important recommendation is to make sure that you go select all inclusive as if you go basic all inclusive you need to pay to eat in the amazing Island barbeque and it is expensive. With select all inclusive you can eat and drink what you like in any of the restaurants and bars. The snorkelling is amazing and as it has its own house reef you do not need to leave the island to see amazing sea life. There is plenty of reef sharks about. For a complete break from reality we would recommend Kuramathi and would love to return. Suzanne and Kieran
