A very short walk from Herbert Hoover National Historic Site (like, across the parking lot) is this little place run by a dynamic couple who love good healthy food and enjoy sharing their love of food with their customers. Its a GREAT small town place where you will find locals who eat there every day (at their table) and different items on the menue every day. We only ate there for lunch, but we heard from others that the breakfasts are also fantastic - like the best oatmeal you ever had. Something for everyone here, served with the kind of attention to detail (and attention to the customers) that you rarely find anymore. Plan to have a meal at Reid's Beans while in West Branch.

The coffee is very good, and the cookies are fantastic. The overall ambience is charming and comfortable. Just a quick jump off of I-80. I didn't eat anything else, but it's obvious that the people who own this place love what they do, and that usually shows in the cooking.

I have been a regular here since they opened. The menu is limited, usually 4 or 5 entrees, but this is because the food is basically all fresh and prepared to order ( If you're looking for burgers or chicken nuggets this is not the place for you). The lunch menu changes every few days. The breads and bakery items are fresh-baked too. Most lunches are priced in the 7-8 dollar range which includes an entree and 1 or 2 sides. Breakfast available too. And while they are normally open 7 am-2 pm, on the second Saturday evening each month they do a full 4-course dinner (choice of three entrees) which is more expensive ($30-35) but well worth it. I have eaten here literally dozens of times and have never been disappointed!

Reid's Beans is home cooking at its best. I had a turkey sandwich, made from a turkey that had just been roasted the day before. It is an easy 15 minute walk from the Herbert Hoover Museum

Highly recommend a stop at this little cafe for breakfast or lunch. Coffee and baked goods are delicious, breakfast dishes such as french toast are excellent, and lunch menu is the best around. I love that there are good hearty meat dishes such as pulled pork on the menu. It's healthy but still satisfying. Also I like that for $8 you get a whole lunch with salad, pasta salad or fruit. And whatever your preference just let the cook know and they can usually make it to your style. And that's what I love most about Ried's Beans, they make you feel right at home here and just like one of the family. The best place for a quick or sit down lunch or breakfast in the area no doubt about it.

Can recommend the slaw and pasta salad, the brie and chicken wrap, the roast pork and pulled pork wraps, seafood salad, cookies, latte, everything I have had there has been home cooked and delicious.
