Along the Musi River across which the majestic Ampera Bridge spans, are rows of semi-permanent food stalls selling local delicacies such as pindang patin, pindang tulang, gado-gado, and the list goes on. We had lunch there one day and the price was very reasonable. The following day we tried another stall for variety. Also we took pity on the guy shouting away inviting people to his stall and there was no one eating there. Little did we know that we would be in for an unpleasat surprise! A simple lunch of rice for three came up to rp300,000! That's close to RM100! Even the seafood dinner that we had at one of the posh malls in Palembang came up to only less than RM50 after conversion. If that's not daylight robbery I don't know what is! So visitors beware! Although we did not experience any pickpocketing in Palembang, our pockets were picked in a different way!
