I bought 3 nights at this small property on Scoopon and checked the website and some reviews before making my decision to book. I feel that the website did not represent the property correctly and I am amazed reading the reviews now that I've been and feel that people should be warned. Firstly it is located far from Ubud (approx 15 km away) so should not be named DD Ubud Villas. The road to get there would be treacherous at night as well as the 87 steep muddy steps down to our 'villa'. Secondly 'villa' is a huge stretch as I would call the units huts or small chalets. Thirdly there is no restaurant (although it is stated as having one) and going to Ubud for dinner nightly would be impossible as I would not attempt those stairs in the pitch dark. The 'villa' we were booked into was made of bamboo so the air con and mosquito repellants would struggle to keep the room cool and mosquito free. I lived in Africa for 20 years so I'm not afraid of creepie crawlies and having large gaps in the bamboo slats like this in the middle of a mosquito infested jungle is NOT what we expected and prepared for and Dengue Fever is rife there. These 7 huts (all different to) would be fine for the adventurous traveller who wants the experience of solitude in the jungle as the setting was OK ....but would have to be at the right price. The rate was triple what we paid for a lovely 3 star hotel room in Seminyak with full buffet breakfast. The staff were lovely though and gave us a free transfer to Seminyak after we had secured a room to escape to. I have been in Travel Marketing for 22 years and the notion of underselling and over delivering is amiss here ...so some honest marketing to get the right people at the right price would be recommended to avoid more disappointed customers !

The villas are a luxurious, traditional (I use that word lightly) wooden villa, very simple, overlooking the amazing rainforest! Breakfast is a choice of pancakes or eggs and it was more Than enough for us. The highlight for us other than the spectacular views, was the staff and their impeccable service. They went out of their way at all times, so much so , you never need to find taxis as you get a driver any time you like.

Overall I'd say this is perfect for adults! It takes you back to basics and really makes you fall in love with Ubud!

Beware if you drive in at night, it is dark and a bit scary but in the day it is all greenery!

Lastly, the air con in those villas have been the best I've had anywhere else!!

Exactly what I expected Bali to be. This hotel was slightly remote but close enough to the tourist amenities to be the best of both worlds. Little private villas hidden in the rainforest on a steep mountainside, the view was spectacular.

While small, the rooms were perfect. The outside baths however were my highlight. Amazing!!!! I loved the shower and the bathtub was a piece of art.

The infinity pool was so refreshing and tranquil. With my time clock on US time, I really enjoyed my 2 am swims to the sound of the rainforest. The terraced landscape was so well done and so appropriate. From the lava rock walls to the tree branch rails everything was magical.

The breakfasts were simple but very good, I suspect the eggs were from the chickens wandering the property. The coffee was the best. The room service dinners were so delicious that we stayed in 3 nights to enjoy dinner on our balcony.

I traveled with my son and he LOVED the landscape. It was his own little jungle adventure. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get off the main track and relax in a remote area. Be forewarned that it is on a hillside and there are stairs (lots of stairs) The hotel offers scheduled free shuttles into Ubud , but willing to transport at other times for a very small fee. The staff were all so friendly, I absolutely adored our driver, he also took us sightseeing.

Room tip: All rooms had great views

This villa was an absolute dream, and the staff were amazing. They treat their guests like a part of a DD Ubud villa family. They are so accommodating and will give you more ideas of what to see and do. Julie our friendly car driver took us to a place where they manufacture licenses plates so my husband could add one to his collection. Pool area was truly magical and you lie by it a chicken may walk by. Loved the out door restrooms, so much room! The jungle comes alive at night with the most beautiful sounds. In the morning watch off your deck you will see the most bright blue birds with a bright red beak. I would stay here again in a heart beat and recommend to friends and family.

I came here with my friends on early of March and just one word to say about this villa is "Wow". Our room named "The House of Moon". It got jungle view and pool view as well. Really cool and so excited! One of our night stay fell on Nyepi Day and we did stay at the villa whole day but it was worth. We did enjoy a Silent Day with gratification, the etmostphere is peaceful that we rarely find in a daily life.
This is the first time we came to Bali and this Villa with friendly staffs gave us memorable moments. Good point for accomoation and service! If I have a chance to visit Bali one more time, i still choose this villa for my first day.
