“Better than its own website photos. Brilliant.”
Reviewed August 13, 2011

We had one of the villas which was far more beautiful than we expected. The website should definitely put better pictures of the villas, because it was stunning.
Beautiful villa, beautiful outside 'living' room with day bed with stunning view on the ocean and hole nr. 13 of the golf course that surrounds the hotel.
Brilliant pool, very big, with a 54 meter long slide, that is actually hidden and going through the land scape, so not visible!
Food is good (not brilliant). Service is excellent! The only thing not so great is the every night band that does cover songs on request. I really felt for them, because it was obvious that nobody of the guests really liked it but it felt that they weren't allowed to do Balinese or Indonesian songs (they're actually from Sumatra). On Bali I would really appreciate a little bit more authentic music or a mix (The foundation 'One dollar for music" helps out local Balinese (and on Lombok) youngsters to hold on to their roots and mix their own instruments with those of the Western world, singing in Bahasa Indonesia, rather than badly sund English covers).
Breakfast was brilliant. Choice of American breakfast, Continental, Asian, Belgian Waffles, eggs any style etc. All from the buffet, all fresh.

Other than the pool, the golf course and visiting the temple, there is nothing to do, so this was a good in between hotel for us and the kids to just relax for a few days in the beautiful surroundings, great views and high service level of staff. We wouldn't stay there for 2 weeks because we would get bored, but 3 or 4 days was brilliant!
Also it's not cheap. Western prices in the restaurant, so for Bali, quite expensive

Really great hotel, we will definitely return.

Dear Esther v,

Thank you for choosing the Pan Pacific Nirwana Resort villas for your family holiday and taking time to share your experience with us on Trip Advisor. We are delighted you enjoyed our pool villa and its amenities, as well as our spacious pools with the ever so popular water slide! We are finishing the refurbishment of all our villas and will add new pictures to our website as you suggest.

We truly appreciate your comments on our musicians at the Pool Grill. In fact, the guys are eager to play more songs from their home and we are encouraging them now to feature their local repertoire. They are pleased to showcase their rich culture and heritage. We are also improving our program of activities, both on and outside the resort, to suit all tastes and ages. Our local community is full of possibilities for exciting discovery and we have designed activities to introduce and engage our guests with the local village community. We hope you might enjoy these improvements when you return.

Many guests enjoy our shuttles to the beaches, restaurants and boutique shopping in popular Seminyak only 30 minutes away. Please call on me when we can be of assistance. We look forward to welcoming you back to Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali Golf & Spa soon and often.

Best regards,
John Berndt

We have had our 6th stay at this beautiful resort. (all previous stays were when it was Le Meridien) Well worth the drive out of town to this sensational property where nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful staff. Amazing pools, waterslides, restaurants and the roomsare spacious, the decor is nice and rooms are clean. Even tho' there was renovations underway (which are now near to completion) it didn't deter us from still rating this hotel as our favourite!! We will be back in September and this time taking the family and grandchildren. Can't wait!!
My only recommendation would be banning ANY smoking in meal areas. This may have just been a problem due to the confined area of breakfast while renovations were happening.
Great markets and also restaurants nearby and walking distance to watch the amazing sunsets over the Tanalot Temple. The hotel driver will take you to the markets in the car and return and collect you at your required time! Great service!
LM

Room Tip: Garden view rooms have great outlook. if you can't afford Ocean view

Dear LynM65,
We are so pleased that you chose again our Pan Pacific Nirwana Resort for your holiday, and for the 6th time! We sincerely value your opinion, so thank you once again for sharing your experience with us. We are pleased and proud of your comments regarding service of our employee associates. They will be very thankful of your acknowledgement of their hard work, they are so genuinely eager to please.

We do have some specifically designated areas for smoking in the breakfast area at the moment, but we will definitely have better facilities once renovations are completed in the restaurants. We will limit smokers to outdoor areas only. Thank you for the encouragement on this smoking subject.

We hope you will enjoy the many changes following our refurbishment and will have the chance to experience our new restaurants for your stay in September. I hope you will enjoy our new family rooms and the improvements in the kid’s club playground areas. You will certainly enjoy the new Tanah Lot Café, with a relaxed and family-friendly concept for your upcoming visit with your grandchildren. We are also improving more guestrooms, the golf course, spa, activity programing, public areas, lighting, sound and landscaping.

Please call on me when we can be of assistance for your next stay. We look forward to welcoming you back to Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali Golf & Spa soon and often.

We had a spectacular experience at the Pan Pacific. The location is a bit out of the way, which is what we wanted, but the golf course lived up to its rating as one of the best in Asia, without question. Absolutely incredible! The resort was under renovation, but we assume that's probably the reason we got a great deal for the 4 days we were there. The grounds are beautiful and the staff so very accommodating. The occasional language barrier (the staff saying 'yes, of course' and you knowing they have no idea what you said :-) made it a traditional, albeit unique Asia vacation experience. We've lived in Asia for 4 years now and have made a point of trying a different location every time we vacation. Bali is the first we've visited twice. Pan Pacific is the first hotel we've considered visiting again.

When we were there only around 80 rooms were operational and a big part of the hotel was under construction for renovation. Which is absolutely good, because the previous owner Le Meridien had done no maintenance whatsoever nor did they clean the rooms properly (we noticed last year). We were now upgraded to a renovated suite which was a perfectly furnished and very clean room.

Breakfast however was absolutely sub-standard for Pan Pacific. It was moved from the main restaurant to a patio near the conference rooms and had limited choice, jam in plastic cups as you may expect in a youth hostel, hardly any nice presentation and unattentive staff. The other morning we were waked at 8 am by machines mowing the lawn of the golf course around the hotel. Also facilities like the gym were affected by the renovation.

We talked to the GM, who didn't seem to make this his first priority, but offered us to book us to another hotel, which we readily accepted. And stayed the last 5 nights very happily in the Conrad.

The staff go out of their way to make each guest feel individual and important. On that basis and the wonderful ocean view setting this is a great place to unwind.
However the airport "passport on arrival" setup is third world in the extreme. The greeting and meeting area, car parking and exit from the Denpasar airport are a disgrace. The trip to and from the airport is frustrating and horrendous. It took 2 hours to the minute to travel the 26 kilometres from the resort to the airport at some stages making no ground at all for 10 minutes. Further reading shows that travellers have been complaining about this traffic for years and vowing never to return to Bali. Traffic officers stand by obviously accepting that the traffic is out of control.
While this is not of Pan Pacific's doing it reflects badly on that and other resorts in Bali.
The resort itself is undergoing extensive renovation but even now the rooms are not badly dated. The general swimming pool, bar area etc offer a very relaxing environment.
Happy hour featuring 2 for the price of 1 drinks from 5.30pm to 7pm each night is very popular . The excellent roving string trio stays on through dinner. It seems nothing is a problem for the ever friendly smiling staff.
I will be drawing management's attention to specific areas where I experienced disappointing food. and I am certain that efforts will be made to address that.
GOLF
Very prompt and efficient free transport is available to and from the adjacent 18 hole golf course. and the pro shop, cart and caddy service are very well run. The excellent award winning course is kept in good condition by a strong team of locals.
Regrettably I will not be returning to Bali. There are a number of other destinations where the tourism authorities know what tourists want and actually encourage tourism.
The resort deserves a very good provided they improve on the food.

Dear WinnoSydn,

Thank you for writing this review even though you didn’t want to. We appreciate your choosing Pan Pacific Nirwana and sharing your experience with us. We appreciate your recognition of our service staff and setting suitability to relax and unwind. We are pleased and proud of your comments regarding our happy hour, Greg Norman championship golf course, swimming pool, our bars relaxing environment, smiling staff, efficient free transport, strolling musicians and excellent service of our employee associates.

I apologize for the unpleasant experiences during your recent Bali visit regarding Airport welcome and traffic conditions in Bali and our failure to provide enjoyable food. We look forward to open our new restaurants this month and are excited about the marked improvements we will be offering. Please drop me a note regarding the details about food and I would like the opportunity to address.

I certainly understand you reluctance to return to Bali due to the poor infrastructure and failure of Government to create a more appealing tourist friendly welcoming environment. However, they are trying to improve with new Airport opening in 2013 and road extensions we hope to see soon. We are continually engaging public elected officials to impact improvement and hope our encouragement and support will bring results someday.

Please call on me when we can be of assistance. We look forward to welcoming you back to Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali Golf & Spa sanctuary.

Best regards,
