I think the hotel is amazing, lives up to it's reputation.
Food was excellent, amazing quality and taste.
Airport transportation is very good, Drivers are detailed in the explanation of the services in the car and careful in their driving.
All the employees greeted us by name.

Room Tip: - All rooms are worth it but I Especially liked the Pool Villa and the vue.

This is our second visit to Alila Soori and it continues to be one of our all time favourite resorts for chilling out and relaxing. We've stayed at other luxury villa properties in bali previously like the W, One Eleven, Alila Uluwatu ... and although they are all amazing in their own ways, I still find Alila Soori at the top of my list. Firstly, I love the fact that the property is located in a relatively quiet location on a black sand beach. The sand on that beach is so fine that it feels like flour and it sparkles under the sun. The architecture of the property uses a lot of black volcanic rocks and very in keeping with the natural environment around it. The other thing I love about Alila properties in general are the his / hers bath products. Ranging from the face mist to the shampoo to even the bug spray... their signature scent is just really great. Someone has clearly put some thought into it. I can never resist buying some home after each stay - If they sold giant bottles of shampoo, i would definitely buy that. The design of the spa is also amongst one of the best that I've seen. Overall, the feeling that I get from Alila is that it is luxury but still low-key, unpretentious and the brand isn't in your face all the time (sorry W!).

Some areas for improvement... so, please keep in mind that this is just nit-picking from what is already an amazing experience. My husband, the foodie, says that the first time we visited, they made the breakfast croissants fresh so they were still crispy when they come out... but this time, they were made in advance so the humidity of the place makes them not crispy. i can imagine that the property might be a bit quiet for some people who like to party... but it was perfect for us. Water temperature of the pools is a little lower than I find ideal ... but it's fine. Geckos are v. loud at night... but not sure what they can do about that. Would like more free snacks / water in the room.

We stayed at Alila Villas Soori after a highly enjoyable stay at Alila Villas Ulu Watu. Alila Villas Ulu Watu kindly helped us arrange taxi transfer to the other resort, and the driver even made a brief stop for us to have lunch at Jimbaran bay because the journey took over 2 hours. Met the GM Sean briefly and he told us of future plans of a helicopter transfer between the 2 resorts, which seems such a wonderful idea!

Alila Villas Soori is yet another remarkable resort, designed by another Singapore-based architectural company SCDA Architects. On entering the resort, the same sense of space embraced us, with a huge reflection pool, which stretches out seemingly to meet the sea. Size of the resort seems smaller than Alila Ulu Watu. To be honest, the location of Alila Ulu Watu perched on the cliff is simply unmatched by Soori, even though the latter is also very well situated next to a very lovely black sandy beach.

We stayed in an ocean view villa. The villa is of a reasonable size, partitioned into a living room and a bedroom, making it seems slightly smaller than that of Ulu Watu. I love the huge bath tub, which even comes with small pillows for one to rest your head while soaking in the pool! The outdoor shower was also rather enjoyable, with water flowing down as if it's a mini waterfall.

We also love the Apple TV provided which was really cool, with a good variety of movies uploaded. It saves us the trouble of going to the reception desk each evening to select DVDS. The sound system was awesome as well! There are two TVs provided. However the one in the bedroom is is not connected to the Apple TV, so you can't watch movies while lazing on your bed. The living room sofa was really comfortable though.

Turndown service was really good. One night, the butler made a display of a heart out of rose petals in the bedroom for us. Service from the other staff can be a bit warmer though. It's somehow one notch down from what we experienced at Ulu Watu.

I enjoyed the pool at Soori. It is big and is an infinity edged pool that seems to stretch out into the ocean. The outdoor sofa bed was clean with many cushions and highly comfortable. Generous supply of tower and Alila products - sunscreen, cooling gel, insect repellent were nicely displayed next to the pool. Wow! This resort truly anticipates our needs.

The villas are not entirely private, in the sense that people walking on the beach can look up into the outdoor area of your villa, with the beachfront villas definitely having less privacy than the ocean view ones which are on level 2.

The black sand beach is really nice. We did horse riding with the island horses one morning and had a really good time!

Food-wise, breakfast was something to look forward to every morning. Good variety of dishes which changes on a daily basis and prepared freshly for you. The smoothies were really addictive! We had a set menu at Cotta which had really tasty BBQ ribs. We also had a romantic dinner by the beach at Ombak even though we found the food so-so. This resort, just like Ulu Watu's, does not have direct sunset view, but we can see the changing colors of the sky as sun sets. We felt food at Warung (Alila Ulu watu) was definitely more enjoyable though.

This resort also serves a very delicious afternoon tea at the library, consisting of sandwiches, scones etc and TWG Tea.

Of special mention in this resort will be the Spa. Excellent experience. We wish we could stay there forever. The treatment room was so well designed with the dim lighting, terra-cotta tiled walls, the huge bath tub which was gently hidden away behind the translucent automatic curtains. Makes one feel instantly relaxed upon entering the room. I did not get to try out the Yoga classes this time because I missed the one at 5pm when I arrived, and the next morning class was too early for me at 7am. Class timing alternates each day.

Even though I believed this resort is set out on land parcel smaller than Ulu Watu's, we never felt that the place was crowded, even at the main pool area which always seems to be the most popular part of a resort for sun baking. I figured its occupancy rate was not as high as Ulu Watu's during that period or people don't gather around the common facilities as much, because most people were happy lazing around their own private pools. That's a definitely plus point for me.

Overall, an outstanding resort. Once again, I didn't feel like I need to leave the resort for any reason at all, and well, I didn't.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms are the best. But if budget is limited, Beach front villas are not too bad.

The hotel staff were most welcoming and friendly, we were greeted daily by smiling faces & caring conversations, especially with the fantastic F&B manager.
The food was rarely mentioned as a highlight but turned out to be a great surprise bonus as it was delicious from the local Balinese cuisine all the way down to dessert. The breakfast is wonderful, instead of a wasteful buffet, you are welcome to order as you wish to a daily changing menu of small dishes. We also happened to be there when a visiting chef was in town.
Worthy to try some of their journeys such as
-the cooking class where the chef shared his secret recipes (don't do it if you expect to cook yourself!) and we learnt a lot instead of an hour of vegetable chopping.
- Segway ride through the villages and rice paddies - amaaaaaazing must try! It's the most carefree experience and a great way to get to know the friendly village nearby. Wear sunscreen, lots!
- golf at nirvana golf club
- spa! Consistent masseuse techniques, heavenly hot stone massages and tasty ginger tea with a kick

Only possible improvements:
- lighting in room too dim even for great ambiance
- villa felt a little small, wished the one bedroom was more spacious
- A chirping bird at 5:30am

Overall a cozy boutique villa resort.

In case you are put off by other reviews .... just say yes

The location, the beach, the rooms, the food, the staff, the activity options are all first class. Touches like personalising the books and movies in your room, being around when needed and out of site when not, customising food choices for young ones are all signs of a great hotel.

Room Tip: Chose between Beach or rice paddies and mountains. Cant go wrong

A beautiful property with stunning food and impeccable service - everything is done with a genuine attention to detail and I do so look forward to a return visit. A highlight foodwise is the small portions for breakfast which sets your day up perfectly and the balance choices provide an option for everyone!

As part of my job I am privileged to travel a lot internationally and stay at some of the nicest hotels in the world. For a relaxing, pampered indulgent beach vacation you cannot beat this hotel. We have just returned from Bali and we stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with our 2 young boys. Everything was wonderful. Room upgrade on arrival, Segway tour, beachfront villa, bat caves, kite flying, spa, personal host who was incredible, fabulous food, very friendly attentive staff and oh those sunset views!! Amazing. We will definitely be back again! The Walkers.
