We spent three nights at Sawah Indah and wished we could stay longer. We arrived from Amed, which was about a 2 hour drive. The setting in the country is incredible....so beautiful! This is a small intimate villa. We had the top-floor corner room with a balcony overlooking the rice fields. The room was spaceous....had two beds and a very contemporary bathroom with concrete tub and hand-held shower. We did loose hot water one night, but the staff was right there to fix it immediately. We were treated wonderfully! The food was good. The villa is located in the countryside but there were still options for other restaurants. We had lunch at Jana's Warang down the road towards town which was quite good (internet access there also) and dinner at Surya Shanti Villa (an upscale villa at the end of the road with average food but a beautiful setting and they sent a driver for us). It was a bit of a hike, but we were able to walk into town, have pleasant interactions with local residents, and check out a few shops. We were there during the rainy season but the weather was nice for the most part. It rained one afternoon but we still had a pleasant time reading and relaxing on the balcony. Other than that, it was just intermittent showers. We had access to a lovely pool at the sister villa just down the hill. The staff even delivered lunch to the pool. The evenings were memorable due to the unforgettably magical sounds of frogs, etc coming from the rice fields. The manager set up a day trip to visit Pura Besakih and also arranged transportation at the end to Ubud. At the end of our stay, we had planned on leaving early to relocated to Ubud but decided to extend our stay until the afternoon because it was so pleasant.Thank you Sawah Indah staff for a wonderful experience!

Amazing AMAZING location. I've been travelling now for 6 months all over the world and this is by far the most beautiful location of anywhere I've been. Hospitality is awesome too, views are outstanding and change each morning and throughout the day. Food is excellent too. You can have a shower and actually look out over the mountains at the same time. Please stay here you won't regret it! There is no wifi here though if you are a child of the west like me, that is however a general thing in Sidemen as it is properly in the outback so just kick back with a book and your journal for a few days :)

Room Tip: Higher up equals better views and away from mosquitos!

Sawah Indah Villa at Sidemen is a great place to stay.
With two couples we were guests for a week in this charming, quiet and small hotel.
The owner Gede, his wife and family, and his crew are all extremely friendly and helpful and gave us the feeling as if we were at home.
We had two rooms on the first floor, with a breathtaking view on the rice fields all around.
The rooms are spacious, nice and very clean.
The food is extraordinary, the restaurant nicely situated.
The cook Komang gave us the opportunity to help preparing a traditional Balinese menu in his kitchen. Delicious taste, really!
There is no internet available, but if you need it, they bring you a laptop and you can use it without costs.
The young owner Gede is a wonderful person. For two days we made trips with him and he never seemed tired to answer to all our questions.
We were at Sidemen the 1st of February, the day of the celebration of Galungan. Gede invited us to come to his family temple to be present at the ceremony.
An unforgettable happening.
In short, Sawah Indah Villa is a place to relax and to see Bali we recommend highly.
With love, Marlene and Henk, Villastrada, Italy

We've stayed at Sawah Indah Villa for two nights and it was a great experience - stuff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are specious, our room had two beautiful terraces with stunning views of the mountains, rice fields and even the ocean when the sky is clear. The location is simply fantastic, the Villa has only several rooms (not sure 5 or 6) which makes it feel personal and homy. The stuff helped us to plan our trekkings (which you could do all by your own or rent a guide - we did both) and where very accommodating in every way imaginable. We would love to come again.
