“Beautiful Views, Great Spa”
Reviewed October 9, 2011

Sideman and the Uma Agung Villas was a wonderful surprise on my trip to Bali. The Hotel has amazing views of the rice fields, including a beautiful pool. The rooms are very clean, although not entirely sealed. However, I didn't get bitten by any bugs.
Several in our party got excellent service at the spa, and we all enjoyed the restaurant. The staff was all friendly and helpful.

Villa Uma Agung is located in one of the best areas of Sidemen. It's a very quiet and peaceful place. We had a wonderful view from our room (if you can, ask for a room upstairs) on the rice fields and Mount Agung. We paid only 400 000 Rp (45 $), and there are cheaper rooms. You can just go out of the hotel and walk in the middle of rice fields by yourself. The staff never tried to sell us anything. They were very helpful with everything. Among the nicest people we met in Bali! The restaurant also offers very good food. The swimming pool is very nice (although cold sometims because the weather in Sidemen is sometimes cool).

No wifi but a cheap Internet access on their computer. The only drawback is that the hotel is quite secluded so you need a car to visit the villages in the area, but it's also the case with the other hotels of Sidemen. A wonderful area not to miss when in Bali!

Room Tip: upstairs room

This hotel was a huge surprise. You drive through rice paddys forever and leave the village and then all of a sudden you pull into the hotel. Doesn't look like much until you start walking down the path. The hotel is stunning and the rooms are lovely with stunning views. The food was really good, the staff helpful. Don't plan on doing much (aside from a swim or walk) as there isn't anything nearby. Great way to slow down and enjoy the view.

Tried to put this place in the reviews for hotels, but the site couldn't find it. That'll give you an idea of how out of the way this place is. It is located in Sidemen, just north and inland of Candidassa.

We spent two nights there, at US$40 per night including tax and breakfast, this is truly the best bargain we found in Bali. The people there could not have been any nicer, the room and outdoor bath were spotlessly clean, the king size bed super comfortable. Sitting on the small porch off of our room, sipping some wine (we brought our own!) overlooking the rice fields in the evening, was simply perfect. We had room #9...highly recommend it!
