The main road in Pemuteran is dry and dusty. We wanted to find a change from the hotel restaurant and what a find Frangipani turned out to be. We took advantage of the driver pickup and return, prompt and friendly service. The decor is clean and simple, and everything is spotless, no sign of the dust from the main road (its about 100m off the main road), nice view of the mountains and we got there early enough to see the tail end of the sunset and a beautiful orange sky. The food was very, very good. Our starters were the Thai beef salad and the fish and vegetable soup. Both very tasty, the beef was tender and a nice tangy dressing. Our mains were the Frangipani chicken (grilled chicken breast stuffed with prawns) and mahi mahi meuniere (thick fillet and the sauce was yummy!). The chicken in particular is a very generous portion - big appetites will enjoy! Go for the sauteed potatoes, they do a good job.

And we have to mention the ice cold beer! Wow that was nice, especially since it did get hot. Even though you're dining on the 2nd floor we didn't feel any breeze. The one improvement we could suggest is for them to install fans. But we enjoyed our meals so much we went back a second time and ordered the same mains, only we switched so we could both try the chicken and mahi mahi!! Just as delicious the second time. The service was good and consistent both times. Yes, you have to ask if you want a second drink, but we find that is common in Bali. And when we made eye contact they were right there, and the 2nd ice cold beer came right away. We would definitely recommend.

Splurge at least once, this place breaks the same-same of menus at the resorts. Deserts are a knockout.

We recently stayed up in Pemuteran and had a Villa with meals. After looking on Trip Advisor we decided to venture out for a dinner. We saw Frangipani was No 2 ranking and gave them a call to collect us which was a free service. They were prompt and we were quickly seated upstairs by a lovely waitress who was very attentative,Drinks orders were taken and the drinks arrived quickly.Dinner orders were taken and then thats where everything went to pieces. At no stage other than the first order for drinks were we asked if we would like any others. The staff sat in a corner looking bored and disinterested. After that they disappeared all together. The meals took over an hour to arrive and the quality of the food was poor at best.I thought I would go for something simple and ordered the mie goreng.Nobody can do a bad job of that in Indonesia but I was wrong. They tasted like 2 minute noodles with some tomato sauce in it.We had also ordered some Calamari which was over cooked and I dont know that there was any squid in the batter it was so thin.I dont think anyone finished their meals and we left early.Another problem was that there were no fans in the restaurant. It was muggy & humid so we fanned ourselves with our menus.Maybe it was a bad night but I couldnt recommend this restaurant to anyone. We decided we wouldnt try the No 1 restaurant if the No 2 was as bad as it was.

We are extremely disappointed to get a review like this and we take any review very seriously. We remember the group very well and feel a response is appropriate.

The reviewer was in a group of seven people. They ordered a total of eleven dishes which were to be served at the same time. Our staff write down the time orders are taken and the time orders are served. In this case orders were placed at 7:30 and served at 8:18. (48 minutes) There were seven meals ordered shortly before and these had to be served first. Our waitresses do not sit down but stand to attention at the restaurant desk to service guests at their request. The only time they are absent from this position is when a large number of dishes are to be delivered to a group.

The lady who ordered the mie goreng left the group halfway through her meal and went downstairs. Our manager saw that she was perspiring heavily and unsteady on her feet, helped her to sit down and provided a cold towel. When asked if the food had caused her distress she answered that it was not the food but that she was a diabetic and did not feel well. After some time one of the group came down to find out what happened and alerted the rest of the group, all of whom came down. Concerned about her condition the group decided to leave early and were taken back to their villa by our staff. The manager asked the group about their food and they answered that it was good. At no time was a complaint made.

The only food that was left was the Mie Goreng, a small piece of fried chicken from one of the children's meal and two calamari rings. Mie Goreng is one of our most popular dishes and has 18 different ingredients and no tomato sauce. Calamari is also popular, and squid comes in different sizes, some smaller than others. Two calamari dishes were ordered and one of the dishes had smaller calamari rings. We acknowledge the complaint and have since remedied this.

The restaurant has floor fans as ceiling fans are not very effective in a high roofed restaurant. Our waitress noticed that one of the guests was fanning herself with a placemat and directed the fans towards the group and turned them to maximum for which she was thanked. We have a young and enthusiastic staff at Frangipani who try very hard to provide a positive experience to all our guests.

The ambient of the restaurant was really nice, quiet, set back from the noisy main road and with a beautiful view of the mountains.
The food on the other side was quite a disappointment from what we have expected from such a high priced restaurant and the previous reviews - in our opinion all our dishes, appetizer and the main dish were just tasteless!

Super meals, very nice service including the offer of a lift back to the hotel.
I could see a roast baby suckling pig at another table and it looked fabulous.
