“Spartan is not same as Eco??”
Reviewed November 20, 2012 via mobile

The room was pretty spartan. No fridge, no tv.
Outside barhroom was nice - but unbearably hot under the air conditioner outlet.
Di not try the restaurant as the resort across the road was enticing!
Pretty gardens.

Kubuku is very nice and harmonic place, with really lovely people and a great philosophy.
We had one of the big rooms (5A), really spacious, comfortable and clean.
Garden and pool are just gorgeous.
The restaurant offers delicious traditional food and yummie juices.
A wonderful place to relax!

We loved our stay at Kubuku!
The rooms are spacious and spotless and are located in a nice garden.
The hotel built a large swimming pool in spring 2012 which is lovely. Unfortunely they're only 2 small bamboo sun loungers near the pool - but more soft sunbeds will follow hopefully. The staff is professional and really friendly and honestly interested in their guests -  they love chitchatting :-). The food in the hotels restaurant is also nice. So, Kubuku is a good choice if you don't mind a 5 minute walk to the beach. If you're looking for a hotel at the beachside, keep in mind that you'll surely pay (a lot) more.

A fairly long walk on a busy road to get to the beach. The hotel was nice but every day they held a kind of day camp for local village children. This made it so noisy one afternoon we could not rest as the children banged on gongs and drums for several hours. Swimming pool uncomfortable to use one afternoon because of being used for this. I'm all for this but hold it away from a hotel!

The hotel was beautiful and the staff were helpful and friendly. We were served tea every afternoon. The only drawbacks were the construction going on at the hotel and the lack of direct beach access. It is about a 5 minute walk to the public beach access, but not having chairs or place to leave your stuff was annoying.

The room I stayed in was lovely, clean sheets, fresh towels, thick toilet paper. We had afternoon tea and a snack brought every day. I had an outdoor shower, which was great. The staff were friendly. It also has beautiful gardens. The only minor downside was that there was no key to the bathroom door, so there was only the high concrete wall around the shower stopping people getting in.

We stayed two nights in a double room and our friends stayed in a twin room, both with AC for about $35 per night per room including tax and breakfast. The lodge was excellent value for money and the staff were helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious. The outdoor bathroom was fine, though if mosquitoes like you then you will have a little trouble. The gardens are beautiful and there is a large seating are to laze around on. Much like most elsewhere on Bali there are roosters roaming the grounds and can be noisy during the early hours of the morning. The only fault that I have with this lodge is the location. If you just need somewhere to sleep then the location is fine. However, if you want to spend time on the beach you may prefer one of the hotels along the beachfront, though prepare to spend a bit more money. It is a short drive to the beach area though so if you have a car, will spend your time diving or would like to save some money then it probably won't be an issue. We did not dive with Kubuku, though they have a dive shop in front of the lodge. We went to Menjangan Island with Reef Seen Diving and had a fantastic time.
