“Joy at Jubawa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2013

I can heartily recommend Jubawa Homestay, located just a short drive from Bali Barat National Park in the touristy village of Permuteran. The place is wonderful. We stayed in a lovely room with a wonderfully clean bathroom, had great beds, princely decor, good wi-fi and even a swimming pool. Staff were wonderful in providing information about local snorkel spots, arranging for a guided bird tour of the National Park and keeping our place spic-and-span. Meals were good and the breakfast free. They even made up a bag breakfast for me when I had a 5:30 a.m. start to the birding day. For the price, it would be hard to beat!

Room Tip: All the rooms looked nice but there is a row of rooms that might be a bit more noisy. Take the indiv...

We stayed here a few nights after arriving from Java. We wanted to get off the beaten path and my husband wanted to do some diving at the National Marine Park. This place was perfect. It is not on the beach, but there is not a real beach scene here anyways. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Hot water showers and the more expensive rooms have a/c. The room rate included breakfast and dinner. There are not a lot of food options in the area so this works out well. The highlight of this place is the pool. Large enough to swim laps and sunny enough to do some sunbathing. The massage room is located back here. The only negative is that the restaurant is located close to the road. This is the main northern road so it is always busy. We were able to get onward transport right outside the restaurant. If you are looking to stay in this area I highly recommend staying here.

Pemuteran doesn't have many budget choices anymore and Jubawa was the closest thing I could find to budget when searching through books/online. That being said I did find a better place (see my other review in Pemuteran) for cheaper.

If you pay the standard rate, you get breakfast+dinner included and a basic fan room. There is a mosquito net but the fan wasn't strong enough to reach the bed. I was roasting in the room but didn't want to take off the net because of the mosquitos. Bathroom was fine and room was pretty clean. Overall it was okay just a little pricey for a backpacker like myself. If you are with a friend or a group, it should be easier.

You also have access to a (warm) pool (could have done without and a cheaper price) and wifi by the pool.

Room Tip: The cheapest bed (fan only) was very hot. The fan wasn't strong enough to go through the mosquit...

I stayed here after a dive trip to Menjangan and was pleasantly surprised at how well presented the room was for the price.
My room was by the pool, which I understand is the newer section of accommodation. There is a rather steep staircase up to the second floor rooms, but once up there you have a lovely balcony overlooking the pool, and a completely glass front to the room (including the door, with the lock at the base of the door - a bit fiddly, but nevertheless the spacious effect of the glass wall is quite nice). The room itself was very clean and spacious with aircon, a small wardrobe, an incredibly large shower and a comfortable bed with nice mosquito net canopy covering it. Just a few niggly gripes to point out (1) there is no bin in the entire room (2) water was not working when I got up in the morning. Not a massive problem but just a bit inconvenient - I did hear it crank on around 7.30am or so just as I was heading out to breakfast. Not sure if this is recurring problem or one off. (3) The rooms are a bit of a winding walk from reception and I certainly agree with other comments that it is worthwhile having a torch for navigating the path by night- however once you are there they seem to be the best rooms in the home stay.
I was also pleasantly surprised by the food at the homestay. Dinner was tasty and cheap. I had 3 courses and a beer for IDR100k. Prawn cakes to start were nice and while the snapper was not available for main, I had the tuna which was really good - definitely recommend. Breakfast was a bit more average, however considering it is included in the price I wasn't expecting fine dining - it was passable but nothing to write home about.

Room Tip: Rooms by the pool are really nice - but if you're not good with steep staircases make sure you a...

Nice rooms, clean and wounderful pool area. Good location.

We stayed in a super delux room in the pool area. The setting is really nice with the mountains in the background.
Room is big and clean with aircon and open bathroom. Some smaller animals tend to come into the bathroom so keep the door closed;)
The service changes from one day to another and so do the staff.... but most of them are helpfull and friendly, except one girl that is really bitter and not nice at all, they are all doing their best except her...
Breakfast and dinner was included. Breakfast is good. You fast get tired of the a la carte meny though, the dishes sounds very appealing but the reality is something else. Not so tasty food and the portions are small.
Try the restauranf opposit Warung Tarun, really nice food and friendly staff.
The wifi works sometimes but the connection is very slow.
I recomend the hotel for the rooms and pool area.

Loved the bungalow away from the street, super quiet, clean, and nice! With private bathroom, hot water, veranda, beautiful grounds, and a great pool! 300,000 rupiah for bungalow with breakfast and dinner! And for dinner you chose any main dish on the menu! They are also great in connecting you with drivers (550,000 for a day tour with drop of in Ubud, which is standard price) and diving school (sunrise dive was fantastic for our 3.5million rupiah open water certification with dives in menjangan). The town is so cute with good massage, cafe, restaurant, souvenir stores. This is such a prestine side of Bali, so country, so removed, so beautiful.

We visited here for a meal and it proved to be a good evening. The service was excellent and the meal was very good particularly the starters. Very reasonable cost wise. Worth a visit if you are up in Pemuteran for a few days.
