We have used the guide services of Wayan on previous trips to Bali and when we last visited in 2015 his wife cooked us a wonderful balinese meal in his family compound. It was at the time that he was just setting up the cooking class area so we felt that we had to experience it when we visited Bali in September this year. The whole experience from being picked up by Wayan from our hotel to the consumption of our created meal was an absolute delight. We were introduced to Wayan's cousin at the local market who is also the teacher / chef and he showed us round the fascinating food and general stalls. We were then driven to Wayan's family compound where we were shown to the cooking area which was spotless and well equipped. We were also introduced to Wayan's Aunts who were to assist with the class. The whole event that lasted all morning was an absolute joy.
If you want to experience the real Bali then please take advantage of what Wayan has established here. You will not be disappointed. He and his family are an absolute joy and he has an excellent sense of humour and excellent English skills.

We initially choose this place because they promised to have a visit to the market and a small cooking class; but it was much more than that!!

They picked us up in the morning, greeted by a lovely driver who answered all our questions about Balinese lifestyle.

Then Nyoman (the chef) guided us through the market, which was an amazing opportunity to understand better their most important ingredients (and a great chance to buy spices you might need to repeat the dishes at home!!).

We then went to his home and shared some tea and sweets while he explained the ingredients they use every day. We got to smell them, touch them and try them. I shouldn't forget to say that all this was happening in his lovely garden.

Afterwards we had the cooking class. We were very few students, which made the experience unique. He answered all of our questions and patently helped us with the meal preparation. I loved it so much! I can't wait to prepare these dishes at home.

Everything was delicious, the class was great and the atmosphere couldn't have been better. Thank you for opening your home to us, for teaching us how to prepare Balinese food and for showing us your lifestyle.

I had a great time with Nyoman who is an instructor at his house. Me and my girlfriend really enjoyed it. It took place in a local market and his house. In his house you get to see local Balinse house including his own coffee trees. He was happy to introduce the Balinese culture and to stop for our questions. He always tried to make sure that everyone was following him.
I really recommend this place especially to people who look for following things.

1. You can have a more personal conversation. If you have any questions you can ask him and he's more than happy to answer that question.

2. You can see actual traditional house including temples and plantations.

3. You prepare your OWN 5 dishes.

We had such a nice time! If you’re interested in getting an insight of Bali’s living and cooking, this is perfect! We went to the morning class and visit the market first. He explained us the ingredients and gave us more information about the market and the live in Bali.

After that we went to his home. He told us about the vegetables and fruits they grow. When we started cooking he was making sure, everybody could follow him and understood what he said. We maid soup, curry, salad and pancakes.

Can’t wait to try it at home!!

My daughter and I went to this cooking class and it was a great experience. Something every visitor to Bali should do. We learned so much about the Balinese cooking and culture. Thanks so much! We will definitely go shopping for new ingredients and try this at home to impress the rest of our family!

We took a morning class and it tourned out to be a private class for 2 of us!! Awesome! We were fortunate to have Nyoman as our teacher. He showed us his home and explained the Balinese culture from inside. We got to see his family and learned to cook local food with few family secrets :)
When we first came they offered us with their own grown coffee and dessert which were both really delicious. We made traditional 5 course meal and everything was so tastful. Can't wait to make it again at my home. I highly recommend this experience!! It's what GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY stands for :))

Wow what a experience. We had a private masterclass because we were the only two people. Mr Black is the best and is so passionate and kind.
We learned from te best and we had the best morning. Even tears when we tried our homemade food.

Thankyou for everything.
With love from Holland and Belgium.

Nyoman is really a wonderful teacher and we were fortunate enough to be enjoying a private cooking class. You get to see his house and meet his family, which adds a wonderful personal touch to the experience. The menu is really varied and delicious. Make sure you arrive hungry because it's really copious as well. Definitely recommended, thanks again you guys!
