I stayed here for only one night, I wish I could have stayed longer!
Our group was welcomed with a fruity punch drink. I met a staff member, who was very friendly and helpful in guiding me through the various parts of this beautiful property! The sunset views are mind-blowing on a clear day - it's a must but the Sunset bar was under construction during Dec 2016. The 3 course dinner was delicious - warm black sticky rice pudding was just right for the night! Due to the altitude, it does get a little cold and windy some nights. We also experienced traditional Balinese dance performances after dinner, which was absolutely stunning.
My room was very spacious - highlights were the well designed bathroom and bed surrounded by a mosquito net.

We (3 adults) spent 2 nights at the Cottages. The hotels ground are beautiful and well kept. The sunset bar was not open as we were there in the rainy season, but the restaurant served good food and was pleasant.
The room, however, is not very welcoming. The comfort is kept to a minimum and the bathroom not inviting either. There was a hole in the wire mesh that is supposed to stop animals from getting into the bathroom, and it's all a little scary, particularly at night.
It is wonderful though to get up and look at the view towards the ocean, to be so close to the forest and some pretty waterfalls. It might just be the best option in Munduk and considering where you are it's not a bad deal.

This is a different Bali experience. You do not need air-conditioning at night as the altitude means cool evenings. Ideal for walkers and those who like the great outdoors. Certainly not an Ubud in fact very little to do. Perfect if seeking solitude. Unexpected for us were the charming staff and excellent cuisine, being such a small place in a remote area we had no expectations. The staff are so charming quite "heart-stealers".

Best to know what to expect before you book.

Stayed here with a group tour. This lodging is located on a high vantage point so the surrounding views are spectacular.
Because of its location there are steep stairs to go to all of the cottages. The cottages themselves are rustic, beautiful, and quite romantic. We shared a two-story villa with patios, balconies, and a waterfall in the back. The beds are quite comfortable as well. We had mosquito nets to protect us overnight.
There is no air conditioning at this location.
The food is very good here. The service is warm and wonderful. We were treated like welcome guests with warm smiles and any requests gladly accommodated
We watched the sunset from the opposite side of the cottages. There were rice paddies, and beautiful flowers and greenery.
Highly recommend Puri Lumbung cottages to be close to nature in beautiful surroundings

n impromptu trip. Made a last minute booking after a business trip in Denpasar and drove to Munduk.

We stayed in the standard cottage for 1 night and we wish we could have stayed longer. The cottage is a refurbished barn overlooking the paddy fields. To wake up in the morning and saw the golden sun on the paddy fields and mountain was such a bliss.

The interior has modern facilities such as hot shower and flush toilet. There is no TV (who come all the way to Munduk to watch TV?). No air conditioner either, but Munduk is a mountainous area and can be cold at night. The bed has mosquito net. Wifi is available but not too reliable, nevertheless sufficient for emails.

Every night there is a traditional Balinese dance performance by Munduk Village. During our stay, one of the dance, Topeng Lucu (funny mask), is an interactive performance. Audience will have the opportunity to participate. One of the guests seemed to be a professional dancer, adding the interaction much livelier. After the show, we even chatted with Pak Nyoman Aryasuriawan, the head dance instructor who performed the Topeng Lucu. That was a great night.

The restaurant is excellent and attached to a Swiss Cooking School. It serves tasty foods. For dinner we had tuna matah and grilled chicken. The sambal matah (Balinese chilli sauce or some call them "magic sauce") is not spicy, but extremely delicious. Perfect for the uninitiated to sample authentic Balinese cuisine (you can ask for it to be spicier, if you like. We did that)

You can trek up to Munduk waterfall from the cottages. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night therefore we did not have the time to do so. Therefore, we only explored within the resort. Which was nice. There is an open air hall, perfect for yoga or other group activities such as painting or meditation.

When we checked out, the staffs gave us a traditional Munduk coffee powder as a souvenir.

David Bowie once visited and stayed here.
