“One really good stay”
Reviewed July 22, 2012

Travelling 3 weeks through Bali, this Homestay was the best I had at all! Having only two rooms to rent, this place is very focused on it's guests. Espacially Kadek, the owner of this family-run place, tries to help you with all he can. He provides you with a self-drawn map or even comes along as a guide. He tells you all about Bali and helps you with your further plannings. Also the food is very good and his father one of the most sympathic men I met in Bali. I reallt recommend this place at all!!!! Thank you Kadek!

If you are looking for a luxurious hotel, One Homestay is not for you. If you are looking for an authentic and unforgettable experience with a real balinese family, go to One Homestay. Kadek and his family are wonderful. For 9 euros per night, you are welcomed like family. The homestay has a warung with awesome food prepared by Ilu, Kadek's sister in law. The rooms are not the most extra- ordinary, but all you really need is a bed and a hot shower - which were provided. Ilu gave me a fantastic cooking lesson full of laughs and wonderful ingredients and instruction. So delicious and sooo much fun and real Munduk food. Kadek also offers trekking which we would have loved to have done but we only stayed for one night. One Homestay was probably our favourite place during our 3 week trip to Bali. Although our stay was short, it was a precious moment for us. We will be back for sure!! Thank you to the whole family!!! We arrived as strangers and left as friends/family. Heather and Pascal

We recently stayed at One Homestay and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. After a very disappointing experience at Atres Villas we were ready for anything and we are glad to say we loved this place. Yes, it is very small, very simple and needs a coat of paint, but it is clean and comfortable. The view from the bedroom balcony is amazing and the people are lovely. The food was delicious. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for the top room.

We stayed at One Homestay for 4 days while in Munduk. So glad we did. Great place. Nothing fancy but has all you need and the price is great. The owner and his extended family were the best. I did an amazing hike with the brother and learned so much about the tropical foods and spices grown there and much about the culture along the way. And they prepare an amazing Munduk meal if you ask in advance. Nothing like the more typical Balinese food. It was unique and delicious. Much of the food comes from their organic garden. Great view. The people are genuinely caring and giving people. We highly recommend this lovely homestay.

The rates here are extremely low, we haven't found such a low rate anywhere else in Bali. We were totally surprised that after reading the great reviews on Tripadvisor, we found a place that (I'm sorry to say this), reminded us of a jail cell. The bed had been used before (one side of the pillow smelled like hairspray), the sheets and towels smelled really bad. The view is excellent (just like in most homestays and guesthouses in Munduk though). We didn't see any of the family, like the reviews here were so enthousiastic about.

Forget about all the flyers which offer you an "experience of the real Bali" for too much money. Simply go to One Homestay and meet this lovely people and amazing place. Eat food straight from their garden, learn about the Balinese culture during a trekking, and enjoy the wonderful view and silence from/in your room. Definitely one of the best places I stayed in Bali; as a solo traveler I felt so welcomed by this family.

The only thing the Munduk community could work on is to clean all the beautiful nature from plastic and other garbage. Its such a waste of the environment... And maybe the barking dogs can better stay inside the houses during the nights:-)!
