We ate here June 27th while staying in Independence for the night. After the reviews on TA I was really looking forward to a great dinner. We didn't make a reservation but at 7:30 on this evening, it wasn't a problem. The restaurant seemed to be about 70% full. We were seated immediately.
We weren't told about any specials but heard another table being given the run down after we ordered. My choice was the filet while my husband had the pork chops. Salads arrived quickly; I was very happy with the shallot vinaigrette - delicious. We were each also served one roll.
When our entrees arrived, my husband's order came with the glaze. He has asked for them dry and was told it wasn't a problem. Oops; entrees came back again in about 4-5 minutes. Husband's pork chops were very juicy and cooked perfectly. His side of seasonal veggies were also very good. My filet, while cooked to a perfect medium, had no flavor. It was if it was cooked with no seasoning. The char was about the only real taste to the meat. My side of cheddar ranch potatoes was okay but I wouldn't order it again. We didn't order dessert.
Service was fine; about what I would expect but nothing out of the ordinary. Kind of like my meal. If we are in the area again, I would visit other restaurants first as the Hereford House was just average and I'd prefer to try to find something better. It was just disappointing...
