Owner description: President Harry S Truman took America from its traditional isolationism into the age of international involvement. Despite his power, he never forgot where he came from. Today, visitors can experience the surroundings Truman knew as a young man of modest ambition through his political career and final years as a former president.

The visit starts with a short video about the Trumans which was very well done! Visitors are then directed to the house a few blocks away. Note that there is no dedicated parking lot;you can park on the street. Our tour started on time which is always a plus. The guide was knowledgeable and interesting. Wish that we could see the second floor of the house but understand that would be difficult; also wish the other three houses hadn't been closed due to budget cuts! but are impressed with the job the Park Service is continuing to do here.

Each presidential library has a good lineage of the events and decisions that were made in their presidency. One can not be over whelmed (regardless of party affiliation) to see the majors decision he made from the dropping of the Atomic Bomb to the Korean War. Though I have visited 6 presidential libraries I have yet to see the breadth and magnitude his discussions have had on our history

Very interesting to see the house where Harry S Truman and his family lived before, while he was president and after. Amazing that he lived so simple and frugal.

Anyone visiting the Truman museum should not miss the tour of the Truman home. You have to purchase the tickets at the Truman home ticket office downtown where they show a short video of the President's life. The home is just as it was when Bess Truman died. Our helpful ranger guide took us through the house slowly and was very informative. The Truman's lived a very simple home life in this delightful old house. The kitchen reminded all of us on the tour like the kitchens we'd all been in in the 50's usually at grandmas. The hat and cane on the hooks under the stairs echoed the presence of the man.

The Truman house is just as it was when Mrs. Truman died in 1982. The home show how simple their life after the White House was. A great tour led by Ranger Norton who answered all questions. Be sure to stop at the visitor center downtown first to purchase your tickets. The tour takes about 30 minutes. Be sure to stop.
