“Great Gem”

Very intersting museum, where talks about the life of the president. The exhibitions are user friendly and interactive. Probably on the best presidential libraries I have been to after the lincoln library in Illinois.

“Great for reviving memories of the time”
Reviewed December 8, 2012

The place was a lot bigger than I thought it would be, took us all day to go through it. Very well set up and everything is easy to see.

“Everyone should Go”
Reviewed December 4, 2012

For years I have taken many things for granted in the US but in the last several years I have become more aware of things as a society. History classes can teach you plenty--but to see exhibits and hearing audio--gives one a whole new respect for the era and how hard it must have been for our country and other countries as well

“Truman Rocks”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

I have been an admirer of Harry Truman for some time. Therefore, when I decided to take two days off, I could not think of anything better than to go to Independence Missouri to visit. The Library offers much information regarding the decisions Truman had to face as President, with original handwritten copies of important documents, such as his decision to recognize Israel's existence, and personal letters to and from friends and family members on the issues of the day. There is a full scale model of his oval office, and his office in the Library remains intact, as it was when he died in 1972. He and Bess are buried on the grounds, along with Margaret, their daughter, and her husband. The chance to be so near the man himself was a spiritual experience.

Driving around the museum in Independence, one very much gets the sense that Harry Truman was born an ordinary man, lived in an ordinary town, who did extraordinary things, based on good sense and a destiny with fate.

All in all, time well spent.

“Live in history with the man who took tough decisions”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

I wanted to more about the man who took one of the toughest decisions of the 20th century, to drop the A Bomb. Walking through the library and virtually living those tough days of WWII with Harry Truman, I came back with a lot of respect and understanding what he did and benefits the US and world have derived from his decisions. The exhibits are interesting, I wish I had some more time
