“This hotel was just the best.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2010

Evrything about Legian village hotel (Joni 1 ) was just great. Legian is not as busy as Kuta, still the hustle and bustle of shopping and great shopping, my kids first taste of Bali and they loved it.
The service was wonderful, food in the restaurant was terrific, live music everynight, but didnt go too late for those who wanted to sleep.
Price was good, the pillows not the best but when you are tired you really dont notice.
I would recommend this hotel to everyone, so close to the beach and shopping at your front door.

We walked in and asked for rate. Told really good room for 400,000. Agreed then were walked down the road and across to a lane where their 2nd hotel is. Really bad room and hotel. o.k. if your 18 and no money. went back to reception and manager was really rude. we left and got a great room at the Three Brothers Inn for much less! Great hotel and spot. Staff lovely.

I booked this hotel at the beginning of 09 after reading the 2 reviews available on tripadvisor at the time. For the very cheap price I was of course expecting it to be aged and a bit dingy however we were not prepared for quite how run down the place had become.
My husband and I arrived late, after the front desk had closed and were shown to a very small room in the back by the security guard.
I was so unhappy with the room I wanted to leave but as it was 2 in the morning we saw no option but to stay there the night.
My first issue was the bathroom which was incredibly dingy. There was no shower recess, water just sprayed into the bathroom - not that there was enough pressure for this to be an issue apart from the slippery tiles. The tiles were very grimy, cracked and stained (particularly around the sink, toilet and shower taps), the sink leaked, the toilet was stained and it smelt musty as water didn't run into the drain properly but pooled on the floor.
The used-to-be-white-now-yellow towels were very, very old and with holes worn in several places and a large number of old stains. The sheets were the same, cigarrette burns, etc. They did smell freshly laundered though.
The very faded fabric bedhead had what looked like old bloodsplatter on it. The bed was old but comfy enough for us to sleep. The a/c was very noisy but at least it worked.
In the morning we complained and were shown to a slightly bigger room with a slightly bigger bathroom. Bathroom was still incredibly grotty and musty and the linen was the same. I still didn't want to stay but we had paid through a travel agent and couldn't get a refund for our 2 weeks. Other family members had rooms there - they weren't impressed either. They had heaps more trouble with toilet flushing and water pressure than we did.
Anyway we decided to stay. I bought bleach, steel wool, tile cleaner and new towels. After 3 hours in the bathroom it was clean enough for me to use happily enough (still some tile stains but far better and the thorough clean helped with the musty smell).
I would not recommend eating at the hotel - food was very average but there was a really great place nearby for breakfast and lunch called Tommys cafe.
The pool was closed every second day for 'medication' (meaning pool kept going green due to lack of chlorine so the would put in just enough pure chlorine for it to go clear again). It was fine other than that and staff would man the pool bar if anyone wanted a drink.
In general the staff were quite friendly and said 'hi'. They seemed used to people being unhappy with the facilities but could do very little to fix any problems. The room tidy every day was fine except for their abilitiy to clean bathrooms and walls. The gardens were well maintained even if the paths were old and treacherous (not recommended for anyone who needs a walking frame or running little kids).
Basically if you are looking for something very cheap as you are passing through and don't mind a very old, grotty room go for it. Otherwise think again.

We arrived at this hotel after having it booked through our travel agent as we decided to have a stopover from thailand on the way home from our honey moon.We arrived at night (late) to find our room had dirty sheets and blankets, when we had a shower it had 3 sprays of water coming out of the shower rose and took 1/2 hour to wash yourself and the floor waste was blocked only to flood the bathroom. When i grabbed my towel as supplied it was filthy and had 5 tennis ball size holes in it.Then turned on the air conditioner which sounded like a plane taking off. Finally got to sleep with the mozzies to be woken at 7am by screaming kids in yhe pool and a local man washing himself in the pool.NIGHTMARE. wouldnt recommend this hotel to any one.We shifted Motels the following day and was told there would be no refund for the remainder of the stay.In a nutshell steer clear!!!!!

Stayed at this hotel for 2 days in mid January 2008. This hotel is okay for the price and the room is comfortable enough. There were some problems though. Smelly toilet n the hot shower didnt heat up until at least 15 minutes after it was on. The main problem with this hotel is that it got flooded during rain. We had to walk through ankle-high flood water one night during rain n the next morning when the rain is over the place looked kinda messy and dirty. Location-wise this place is good. Very near to the market, shoplots, convenient stores, etc. The great thing about this place is very great n friendly staffs who were able to help u n also nice swimming pool.

I hope this premise can be upgraded cos it have lots of potential. Give this place a try if u have only little time in ur room n are out most of the time.

  • Liked — Staffs, swimming pool, location.
  • Disliked — Toilet, the planning of the whole premise (easily got flooded during heavy rain).

Nice little place. Quiet. Rooms close to the pool may be especially good (though not large enough for our group.) Didn't even use the pool, because we ended up going back to Waterbom (twice!) but it looked fine. Family room was adequate--my 5 year old loved watching Transformers in Indonesian on the tiny TV. Bathroom a little grubby, but ok. Beds comfortable. A/C worked well. Breakfast (included) was very nice, and we had a couple of other good, simple meals at the hotel restaurant on their breezy patio. Staff very helpful and friendly, although sometimes there was a bit of a language barrier. Hired one of the hotel drivers for airport pickup and to go to Ubud--good experience. All in all, a nice, brief stay, with plenty to do and see and eat within walking distance. We headed away from the madness of the Kuta area pretty quickly and into the more peaceful hills.

We discovered this little gem by chance, but it was one of the best places where we stayed in Bali: it's a little hotel 100 m from the beach, with A/C, swilling pool, hot water (well not in every room so better ask first) very friendly staff, full of charm, probably 20 to 30 rooms, and very good value, as a room for 2 costs about 200,000 Rps per night, which is about £10.

If you are looking for a cheap yet nice and comfortable accomodation, with a nice location and full of charm, this is it!

  • Liked — little haven, quiet, friendly and pretty
  • Disliked — the shower didn't always have much power
