Great location if you want to be in among the hustle and bustle although wouldn't recommend it if you want a quiet location as it is on a very busy street. Very clean for a mid range hotel. Buffet breakfast wonderful. Not an overly large hotel with great security. Would stay there again when I return :)

We stayed in a family room at the Lokha Legian, and found it thoroughly enjoyable. The Lokha is a fairly small, comfortable hotel on Jl Padma. The location is marvellous - a short walk to the beach, great restaurants, and the shopping districts of Jl Melasti and Jl Legian, as well as a quick taxi ride to Seminyak and Kuta.

The room was a great size for a family, with a queen bed and two king singles. There was plenty of floor space, and a large wardrobe and luggage rack that could easily hold our many suitcases. The TV was a good size, with quite a few channels, including some English ones. Mattresses were a bit too firm for my liking, and one of our kid's had a shocking pillow, but luckily there were some spares. The bathroom was a bit so-so, with the toilet looking like it had been shoved in as an afterthought - there was basically no room to put your legs. There was also a funny curtain thing that separated the bathroom from the main room, which created some privacy issues, as well as allowing light in from the bathroom at night, as the bathroom window had no curtain. The bath was very large, and the shower head was adequate.

The two family rooms at the Lokha are the only rooms that do not overlook the pool. Instead they have a large window, and a very small balcony overlooking Jl Padma. The balcony has one chair on it, and its not big enough to have more than two people on it at once. Because the room faced the street, there were some noise issues, such as entertainment in the restaurant below, which could be heard clearly. However, everything, including traffic, seemed to quieten down by about 9.30, allowing us to get to sleep easily.

A real positive of the Lokha is the pool area. The rooms are all grouped around it, which means nobody really has to walk very far to get to it (unless you are on the third floor, like us, which means that by the end of the week you get a bit tired of walking up and down stairs every time you want to go somewhere). There is one main pool and a children's pool. The water temperature was fantastic - cold enough that it was beautifully refreshing when you jumped in, but not so cold that you could only stay in a few minutes because you were starting to freeze. The pool was on the small side, but it didn't matter a bit because there never seemed to be more than 10 people in at once. The swim-up bar, whilst being expensive, served a large variety of drinks, including soft drinks, fruit juices, coffee, cocktails, and beers.

Breakfasts at the hotel were quite good, but not exactly superb. There were four different varieties of hot food at the buffet, which were rotated each day, as well fresh fruit, cereals, and breads such as toast, croissants, and pastries. Other foods such as omelettes, pancakes, and eggs, were ordered from a staff member at a station, who then made it, and a waiter delivered it to your table. It's a good idea to get your order in early, as during busy times, it took up to 15 minutes to get your food. There were always a lot of staff standing around at breakfast, but not a lot seemed to be particularly willing to pour us a coffee. Many times we had to get up and do it ourselves, and when we got back to the table, we found that we had run out of milk, as the tiny jug only held enough for about one and a half cups.

Service was a bit average. It started off well, with a seamless check-in, and luggage being brought quickly to our room. Unfortunately, it went downhill from here. Drinking glasses seemed never to be replaced, and even when we asked for more, we were brought wine glasses instead. The biggest problem was that every day when we returned from breakfast, staff were cleaning the room. Once or twice, I can understand, but after a week of us coming back from breakfast at the same time, you think they would have got the message that this probably wasn't an ideal time to clean.

We didn't eat dinner at the hotel restaurant, or the pizzeria (that I think was part of the hotel but am not quite sure). They were both very expensive - we thought that paying over A$12 for a 13 inch pizza was a bit of a rip off. After all, this is Bali, and 'Wayan and Friends' down the road served delicious burgers, baguettes, and other meals for less than half of this. It seemed other people shared our opinions, as the restaurants seemed nearly empty most nights. Room service was also very expensive, and we opted to eat at the much cheaper local restaurants than pay Australian prices.

Overall, the Lokha's crown jewel is it's location. The rooms are also nice, as well as the pool. The place looks a bit tired, but is still comfortable. I would recommend the Lokha for anyone wanting to be close to all the attractions of Legian, but not minding that they may not receive some of the top notch amenities of a 4.5 - 5 star hotel.

Just returned from staying at the Lokha Legian for 6 days with a friend and won't be in a hurry to stay there again. The breakfasts were very basic with not much variety and the food not very fresh. Stale bread for toast and luke warm food is not very appetizing! The linen badly needs replacing as towels and sheets are grey in colour and stained. Standard items like a facewasher or extra towel need to be requested and unless you leave your drinking glass out it doesn't get replaced daily. The design of the bathrooms with only a curtain between the toilet area and bedroom is not the best when you are staying with a friend.

The positive things were that the staff were friendly and helpful and the pool area nice and if you are on a budget it is affordable. However I think I would rather pay a little extra next time and stay somewhere that is in a quieter area and has a substantial breakfast like most hotels that will keep you going for most of the day.

I travelled with a very large group that we had booked over 9 months in advance. You would think they would put us all on the same floor but unfortunatly they did not do this. Our group had young children as well as teenagers, young adults and mature adults.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. We were travelling with young children and found them very good with kids and eager to please.

We ate dinner there on a number of occasions and this was great, however breakfast could of had more variety but what they did have was of mostly good quality, down side was there was only one high chair and with several young children staying at the hotel at a time this posed a bit of a problem.

Our biggest problem was that we had things stolen from our room. Firstly money then a mobile phone, yes these should of been locked away in the safe...but an oversight we dearly paid for. All was reported to security but there isnt much they can do.

The rooms were nice and were cleaned and things that were replaced daily.
The cots were not adequate nor safe. They were rickety and able to be opened from within.. very dangerous.

The washing service was VERY dear considering there is a laundry across the road that charges a very cheap rate by the kg rather then by the item.

Room service was great, prompt and always tasty. Wonderful that this is 24 hours.

The staff were great and very reassuring having security at the hotel as well.

Great massages around the pool and can be taken in your room as well, not too bad price considering.

Location was great, although road works made travelling with prams a little difficult at times. Noise from the road was a little distracting at first but you soon get used to it.

Swim up bar was great although sometimes took a bit of time for drinks especially cocktails etc to be made.

Cost to use the internet was pretty high especially considering it was slow with no virus protection or firewall... (40,00RP per hour)

Swimming pool was great, kids pool was awesome but got a bit chilly in the afternoon as sun isnt on it by that stage

This hotel is in a good location with plenty of restaurants, pubs and market shopping on the street it is located (Jl Padma), with more boutique shopping just down the end of the street (Jl Legian and Jl Seminyak), however there is currently roadworks putting in new sidewalks along Jl Legian which makes it very hard to walk along, and you are constantly changing to the other side due to this problem which is hard as it is a busy street.

Breakfast could be improved - they had a weird system where you would go up to the eggs/pancake station and order what you want and the staff would bring it out to your table, however it would take up to 20 minutes for your order to come out. Also on the main buffet the croissants were stale each day and there was not a big selection of other food.

In the rooms itself, we had a deluxe room and with 2 queen size beds in the room found it too small to squeeze past the coffee table, and the chairs on the balcony are far too big for the tiny balcony and made it hard to get in and out of the door.

The laundry staff were helpful whenever we rang to have laundry collected and to have a drying rack, and this was done efficiently, however we did not have our toiletry amenities changed at all during our stay (even when i placed the empty shampoo bottle on the dirty towels ready to be changed), they also forgot to give us any towels on one occasion and you actually had to write a note to ask for your cups to be changed or they would be left.

Between the bedroom and bathroom there is only a curtain separating the two rooms which can be uncomfortable when someone is using the toilet at night.

When you check in, reception will only provide one key per room, so if you are going out separately (like we were as we were with a large group and often girls would go one way, guys the other) you have to drop the key into reception. This is an inconvenience that is not necessary and the hotel really should change this policy.

The pizzas are lovely from Sarpinos by the pool, and this is the only food available poolside.

Overall, it was acceptable, but i don't think i would stay here again. Just down the road is the Hotel Padma and the Mandira and these are much nicer hotels.

We stayed 2 nights at a Superior room on the second floor. The room was adequately appointed and moderately clean. There was a balcony overlooking the pool. However, we felt that the bathroom could've been laid out better and the towels definitely needed to be replaced as they were old. Location wise, the hotel is near everything - the beach, shops, etc. There is even a pizza outlet just at the entrance. Breakfast was average. They could improve on the variety and perhaps get more than 1 staff to cook the eggs to cut the waiting time. Service of the bellhops can be better, too. No one helped us with our bags. The biggest problem we had was the noise that woke us up at 7am on the first morning. There were people shouting from one balcony to another and it was really irritating. Note that the noise from the traffic can also pose a problem. Overall, it was a decent stay but I will try another hotel next time.
