“Very Happy with the Niksoma”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2009

Stayed for 4 nights at the Niksoma. There were 3 of us in a Delux room and had ample space. All staff from the front desk to the gardeners were very friendly and always smiling. Housekeeping did a good job always suppling plenty of bottled water and fresh towels. Breakfast was great and the staff very attentive. The Hotel is in a perfect location and I would not hesitate to stay here again or reccommened it to a friend.

Friendly staff, swimming pool is great, also for children. It's a nice hotel, but it's not very 'balinese'. If it wasn't for the terribly friendly staff, I think it also could be in Spain or the Dominican Republic.
We are a family with two children, first we stayed in 2 connecting deluxe rooms. The rooms were oké, but nothing special and lacking atmosphere. The balcony was small and didn't have a view at all (!) . After two days we moved to a deluxe suite which was much better. It's just one room, but big enough and it has nice balinese design (wooden floor, four poster bed) and a good terrace.
Another disadvantage of the (connecting) deluxe rooms is also that they're a little bit farther away from the pool. All the other rooms and suites are located in the 'garden' which I think is a lot better and makes you feel more free. (Bali Niksoma doesn't have a a big garden, all the buildings are very near to eachother - but I think you can say this off most of the hotels in the Kuta area. (If you like to stay in a beachhotel with more green, go to the hotels in the Seminyak)
When we arrived there were a lot of 30-ish/ 40-ish people, lots of Australians, lots of surfers, quite a lot of them with children, very relaxed atmosphere.
I don't think I will go back there, but that's also because I'm not really fond of this terribly busy (Kuta) area with all the shops with the Bintang tanktops. But if you're looking for a small hotel with friendly staff in this area on the beach, this really is you're place. Good value for money.

Although I have never reviewed a hotel before, I felt compelled to do so here following an absolutely perfect stay at Niksoma. My partner and I stayed in a deluxe suite and the room was pleasant and spacious.

As many other reviewers have said, the pool areas are stunning and the quiet location opposite the beach is spot on. You cannot fail to relax and unwind here. The restaurant and spa are both first rate (and appropriately pricey).

In addition to these great features, they really know the meaning of hospitality. All the staff consistently greet you with smiles, and usually by name. They all took the time to chat with us and nothing was too much trouble. There were a lot of complimentary touches - fruit salad bowls offered around the pool; facial spritzers when we came in from the sun; cold drinks brought out when we were waiting for a taxi. We felt like celebrities! The management also hosted a complimentary drinks event on the lawn to introduce themselves (personal invitations of course!) and it was a nice way to meet other guests. My partner and I were very sad to leave!

My husband and I are repeat guests to the Nikosoma and this was our 3rd stay. We do sometimes branch out to other hotels, however we are always drawn back to the Niksoma. The staff, location, being a smaller boutique hotel adds to the absolute uniqueness and charm of this oasis in Bali!
From the time you check in until you sadly depart you will find nothing is a issue or a problem. The facilities are first rate. The pool, spa and well equipped gym are very user friendly.
The pool staff are so accommodating and very helpful with drinks, extra towels and always delivered with a smile. The pools are inviting and lounging around the pool area looking out to watch the surfers and people on the beach is very very relaxing. You can see gorgeous sunsets from your pool lounge or bale.
Breakfast has to be the best in Bali, everything is available from fresh fruit to pastries to hot buffet and all served with a smile especially our favourite the lovely 'Minnie'!
We much prefer the Superior rooms and have stayed in all 3 caterogies. With reference to the price - yes I certainly agree prices have increased alot over the last 5 years - but the choice is up to us and it is a great overall experience. If you can stay at the Nikosoma you wont be disappointed!

We stayed in a balcony suite and the room was gorgeous. The TV was great after a day out in the heat to crash and watch from the bed. The room was cleaned daily with new sheets and towels every day and the bed turned down each night. The food was excellent, the service was excellent, pretty much our overall experience was excellent!! We loved the pool, especially from the top pool where you overlooked the ocean, poolside service was excellent.

Let me write about the stay itself before getting into the nitty gritty of the serious problems we encountered as a result of our stay. The hotel itself is really beautifully laid and looks superb. Food and drinks are really nice however service is a tad slow. The pool was the hottest water i have ever swum in and we couldnt bare it for any longer than 5 minutes or so. One of the major downsides of this hotel is the lack of advice and help from the front desk when we asked them in regards to outings etc. the rooms are nice however in my opinion over-priced for what they are.

Now the bad part - on the first two nights of our stay we were swarmed with mosquito's in our room. we had to sleep with industrial strength insect repellent on to keep the at bay. How ever it seems the damage was done as four days after returning from Bali, both my wife and i fell gravely ill and are still sick to this day. Doctors are suspecting malaria or ross river virus and we are awaiting test results to confirm.

All in all not what you would suspect from a US$200 a night hotel in bali...

We travelled to Bali for the first time for our honeymoon. Originally we were booked into the Niksoma for 7 nighst and were going to go elsewhere for a further 4 nights. However we were so impressed with the Niksoma we ended up staying for the full 11 nights.

Upon arrival we were greated with a drink and refreshing towel. Everything was ready and prepared for. They even had a special desert waiting for us in our room for our honeymoon.

The breakfast buffet was great and there was variety every day. We didn't dine in the restaurant at any other time as the food (like most resorts in Bali) was expensive - equivalent to NZ prices. But what I saw coming out looked good. We just prefered to get out and experience more than just the hotel.

All staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble.

The pool area is fantastic and like the rooms and dining areas was immaculately kept.

At the end of the driveway which leads up to the hotel there are guyings offering transport. We used them for the duration of our trip and found them to be friendly and accomodating. Make sure you barter with them to get a good deal but we found them much better than the taxi drivers
