“Quirky room design”
Reviewed April 4, 2013 via mobile

New hotel on the edge of Kuta towards Legian.
Much security including car checks, sniffer dogs then metal/ bag detectors. Not an issue.

Lovely spacious area for check-in with ambient lighting in the evenings. (Shame they allow smoking in this area, a bit off-putting someone puffing away next to you while you are checking in..)

Room info:
lovely and bright with modern decor, but the design/ layout is bizarre. As other reviewers have mentioned, the bathroom area is directly off the room entrance from the corridor, which could lead to some embarrassing moments post-shower. It would be better if the privacy curtain is swapped along the side of the sink going towards the bed area. Oh - extremely comfortable bed, best sleep have had in ages!
Cupboard space is annoying- 2 very shallow drawers inside the cupboard next to the safe. Cannot access the hanging wardrobe space unless the drawers and safe are closed as there are sliding doors.

Pool area is ambient with pool bar offering happy hour 5-7pm. Cute hammock area. A lot of the pool is quite shallow, so good for little ones.
Breakfast buffet had ample choice, was very busy during our stay and was replenished regularly.
Staff were very pleasant :). Tours can be organised through the hotel although the booking office/ area is not immediately apparent or signposted.
This hotel will be great maybe once it figures out who key market is, it does not yet know what it wants to be but it is surely on its way. It's not a resort hotel, has a more corporate flavour. (IMHO) And although the hotel describes some architectural details and room finishings to be Balinese, it just does not have that Bali feel.
Some taps may be useful at entrance for cleaning off sandy feet after visiting Kuta beach across the road.

All together a nice stay and a pleasant trip.

Love the scent that coming out of the spa room after passing the metal detector guards. Then you will find another treat inside the powder room and your room's toilet. But the ultimate treats are the soaps they give you every day as your amenities.

Right to almost the end of Kuta Beach is where you can find this hotel. It is minutes walk away from the busy Kuta Beach Walk area and the hotel itself is located quite in, a distance away from the main entrance, thus giving guest undisturbed rest.

Upon stepping in to the main lobby, area was very spacious and quiet. Rooms with balcony facing the pool was rather interesting as the first floor as its own dip pool while the above has bathtub in its balcony. The interior of the room was a little small, especially after staying 2 nights at W Bali, comparison was unavoidable ^_^. Though the use of space were well managed, it does give me a very corporate feel rather than a retreat feel, maybe it was because my room was a standard room and does not come with a balcony. The amenities in the room was good though I wonder why the bathrobe they use was of a thin cotton material instead of the usual thick or towel type. The buffer breakfast was great with good selection and they provide freshly squeezed juices. The service staff was great and friendly too.

Theoretically this hotel is in a great location, however, due to the road layout and the crazy traffic in Seminyak - Legian, getting to it by taxi is complicated and very time consuming. And the security as you enter the hotel has got to be one of the most comprehensive on the island.

As you walk in, you feel like you've walked into a boutique hotel, but you soon realise this is not boutique size. It's actually quite a big hotel, with 400 rooms.

The best feature is the central pool. It's well designed, huge and a perfect place to lounge away if you don't want to go to the beach. In the evenings, you have a sax player standing on top of the pool bar area as he plays into the night. A nice touch.

The rooms take a little bit getting used to. The weirdest part is that you walk right into the bathroom as you open the door, with the sink being immediately to the right. So when room service rings the door bell and your partner opens it, there you are, stark naked on display as you're brushing your teeth :-)

The rooms are not large, but very well appointed. All the pool-facing rooms have a nice-sized balcony with a gimmicky feature on it - namely a bathtub. Not exactly sure how many people would be using it!

Perhaps what's lacking most though is a touch of Bali.

We stayed here for our honeymoon (11th-24th march) & even though we had to bring along our 5 year old daughter we found the hotel to be perfect! There was no desire to leave the hotel. Security was great & made us feel very safe - Transportation checked & metal detectors entering through the lobby every time.(considering the past history with marriot hotels being targeted, security was a concern for us).
On arrival we were given cool magic towels and ice blocks. Check in was very prompt & we were in our room within 15 minutes. We started our stay in a deluxe corner room which was very spacious and then were upgraded to a family suit. Both rooms were massive. Being a new hotel the decor was very modern, baths on balcony was great. Really relaxing having a bath listening to the sax player who plays every night.
As for restaurants there are 3 at the hotel in which we found the food to be delicious. We got shown through the kitchen which was better than alot I've seen back home and I believe they have an Australian chef also. Breakfasts were also good and nothing was ever too much to ask for. Many days they cooked us food on request. Anu one of the waitresses was absolutely wonderful! In fact all staff were wonderful!
Some days we put our daughter into kids clubs for an hour a day and had no hesitation. It was clean, very modern and she often didn't want to leave. She was sad to leave Ita at the end of our holiday.
The pool.......amazinggggggg! Plenty of sun beds as well as cabanas & hammocks. Pool bar staff were very attentive and were always on hand for a refill. Mr Wirra is a great bar tender! The only thing I can recommend for the pool bar is to make all cocktails available at happy hour rather than just a select few apart from that everything was good.
Staff in general were fantastic, always smiling and always there to assist. The managers also introduced themself which I thought was nice.
When it comes to value for dollar we have stayed at cheaper hotels and not had nearly as good service or accomodation. This hotel is more expensive but totally worth it and you get what you pay for.
So after visit bali 6 times I would say this has been one of the best hotels we have stayed at and we will definatly be back to stay again!

Looking forward to returning in October 2013

Stayed here for 2 nights and we were all very impressed . Through Security gates , Guards , Dogs and mirrors under the incoming vehicles , then through scanners each time you come back into hotel , over the top for some people but very reassuring making you feel important and all very friendly staff . Welcome into foyer was great , staff getting luggage promptly , cool Magic towels and Ice Block . Foyer and Entrance is beautiful . Toilets in foyers were WOW and each time we went in they had been cleaned constantly.
We had rooms on 2nd floor with baths on Balconies . Great . The girls loved to run a bath , throw in Bath Bomb , pull curtains closed and relax in a Hot Tub listening to the Saxaphone player or Bongo Drummer playing for the Fire Twirling girls . The Breakfast was awesome , with a great range of Pastries , breads , fresh juices done personally and Omlettes made with Ingredients picked by us in front of you . Great to see Chefs cooking for you . Had Traditional Dinner there as well on Long Rice table . Brilliant food cooked to Perfection . Overall all this place is a great getaway from the Hustle and Bustle and you could hide out in there all day around the pool , swim up bar and Spa and Bungalows and day beds and hammocks . Good location and only a short walk to shopping etc . Beds were very comfortable , great pillows and Coffee machine and Bose I Pod dock a great touch and we used them all . Excellent . Highly recommend.

I came across this Autograph Collection hotel by mistake. Didn't even know that Marriott had one of these in Asia. Everything about this hotel was unique as it should be. Staff were warm and helping. Food was great. The ambience was fantastic. Pool was great for semi-swimmers like me. Definitely recommend to travelers who are looking for something different.
