The Sari Beach
Ranked #61 of 87 Hotels in Legian
Reviewed June 1, 2013

The Sari is in a great location on the beach and in the heat of Legian. You walk straight out onto the beach at ground level unlike other Hotels near by.
The grass are was good for the Kids to play. I had three kids aged 2,4,and 7yrs. The staff were friendly and always would keep an eye out for the kids. The breakfast was good and the food was enough for nights in. Staying in this area it is always good to sample all the local resturants anyway.
The gardens are great and the pool is kept clean daily.
For the price and location, the rooms were as expected. The bathrooms were old and the taps and fittings are old and worn, some even broken. The hot water is poor and is of very low pressure, but it is Bali and you pay for what you get on the beach front.
Overall I was impressed with the Sari and have already booked again.

First stay at the Sari and for future trips will definately stay here again. The location is excellent right on Legian Beach. What makes this a great place is that it is not 'walled' in - like others along this strip their front access to beach is blocked by their walls for security or they have a restaurant or both. Sari has a beautiful garden setting with pool and from here you can see and hear the beach. If you can afford the little bit extra grab the deluxe seaview room (there are 2 - an upper and a lower). They are bigger and you overlook the garden, pool and beach. We had the upper with a great balcony area with seating/L shape couch and table - the best part is you can see and hear the beach which makes the area a lot larger again. There are a couple of negatives - the toilets dont work! and plumbing in general in the bathrooms needs complete refit - but the positives outway this. Old and a little tired without all the modcons but who needs those when you have a great location and setting.

Room Tip: Room 100 is the lower with view of garden, pool and beach Room 200 the upper is excellent for the v...

I seriously don't normally write reviews but this time I was compelled to do so. I did not book this hotel as I was travelling with a group of friends but if I was looking at their website I would have thought this is a nice hotel. I had a superior room and I do not think it has been updated since the hotel was built in the 70's/ 80's. Oh wait I think the mismatched sink and bath indicates at some stage the bath has been replaced. The vanity taps were green with corrosion, dirty and the tiles around the vanity were chipped. The bath was stained grey with mould growing in the bodgy patch up jobs. The shower was a trickle and hit and miss with hot water with mostly cold showers and one day no water at all and no hot water for 12 hrs ( yes we did complain ). The room had no kettle, tissues, complimentary shampoo etc and the bar fridge barely worked. The towels were old and stained and the sheets were disgusting with old sweat stains on the pillowcases ( thank goodness we bought our own pillows).
The one redeeming factor was the gardens are lovely and the pool is great even though the swim up bar at the pool is not in use!! Wyan at the bar was absolutely lovely and she could not do enough for you. I have been to Bali 20+ times and while I never stay in luxury accommodation this place is somewhere I won't be going back too.
The owners need to do some serious refurbishment and upkeep on the rooms as word of mouth will stop people from staying there. It seems to me that the owners are happy to take the profits from the hotel but reinvest very little on the upkeep.

This hotel has its pros & cons ..
It is an old balinese style ,small hotel which has lovely gardens, with a fantastic location. Very quiet atmosphere,if u wish to read & relax
This hotel would come much more highly recommmended as a place to stay ,as it needs a few small "tweeks" here & there. The hot water system & water pressure needs attention, (not the greatest shower). Linen needs replacing as it is very old & worn & our airconditioner leaked water. The swim up bar is vacant of staff & alcohol? No tea or coffee facilities in room, or phone for room service. Was unable to get Wifi in room also. Breakfast was small.
Rooms were kept clean daily with boiled water given in jug. Swimming pool was also kept very clean. The 3 Bar staff were freindly & helpful & open until 1am to make us a nightcap.
A cheap Balinese style hotel for those not wanting any extras or frills with a beachfront location

Room Tip: seaview room upstairs for fantastic view of pool & beach

The Sari may have changed its name but I still recognise it . I stayed here about 25 years ago ,
I loved its quaintness , small personalised service and a touch of old school Bali .
My girlfriend had stayed at the legion beach inn a large rambling hotel with very non personal feel .
I went back and had a peek at the Sari the last time I was in Bali and they now have a pool.
The hotel is in a wonderful location ,close enough to everything but away from the crazy ness.If you want a big shiny hotel that is the same in any country this isn't it ...
This is a lovely Balinese hotel

Room Tip: There was an upstairs room that had a lovely view

For what you get this little gem is great value. Only A$65 for an off peak room right on the beach: pool, bar, restaurant, service wih a range of rooms for groups, families and couples. Small, boutique and friendly. Just off Jalan Padma Utara, near the heart of Legian.

Stayed for three nights in July 2012. At US $70 for single person it compares well. The days of nice places at $20 are long gone folks.Nice staff, accomodating, rooms pleasant older Balinese style, breakfast more than adequate and a reasonably priced evening meal..not fantastic but filled a gap.. Great barman but to save time during happy hour prefers mixing quadruple gins.
Wonderful gardens and pool and superb beach access. Hot water OK but not unlimited. Good alleyway walk to the hustlers on Jl Padma and back to peace and quiet. Driver takes you to airport for fixed price no hassles.
I'd recommend it for couples with little kids...no dangers. Can't understand the bad reviewers..lving in past expextations?

Room Tip: Garden view rooms nice. Others have own little courtyard but not really much point.
