“I thought it was lovely”
Reviewed January 14, 2010

I was a bit worried before going as had heard so many mixed reports from various websites and people who have stayed there but I found it to be a fantastic place to stay. We had requested interconnecting rooms in the 300 block and we were given these. Our balconies overlooked a perfectly manicured garden and it was great to sit on these and watch the squirrels and geckos in the trees. We even saw a young gardener scale a very tall coconut tree right to the top to prune it.
Admittedly the rooms are a bit old but the beds were so comfy and the sheets and towells were changed daily.
All the staff are so friendly and courteous and the breakfasts were delicious. We were a bit tired of them after 14 days but you couldn't ask for more variety if you went to a restaurant. They had a chef?? cooking any style eggs you wanted, fresh fruit, juice, toast, cereal, yoghurt, pancakes, bacon, sausage etc. pastries, indonesian and japanese selections, and gorgeous bali coffee and tea.
The pool areas were great with plenty of shade if you wanted it although the water was so warm it wasn't refreshing (not the fault of Jayakarta).
The drinks in house are very expensive so would recommend to clean out your fridge and go to the supermarket and stock up your own. There's a sign saying not to bring in any food and drinks but no-one seems to mind.
We had a couple of lunches there that were reasonably priced and not too bad. It was so hot over there it was an effort to walk anywhere at lunch time.
The gardens are magnificent and my son really enjoyed playing pool up in the Sunset Bar (hi Andy).
I don't know what people expect for a 3 star hotel but this place is awesome!!!!

I have been to Bali many times, but this is the first time I have stayed at the Hotel Jayakarta. The rooms are very clean, however the bathrooms could be updated. Great pools, friendly staff and overall great hotel. Would highly recommend, and would definately stay again. Right on the beach, and walk everywhere!

We stayed at this hotel for 12 days over Christmas and New year, and we couldnt have been happier. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent location, and the pools were fabulous. Air con worked with was the number 1 with us, and it was quiet at night. Would definitely recommend and stay again! And free WIFI

Stayed here for 12 days in late December 09, including Xmas. Staff were fantastic, from the reception staff right through to the waiters- all were so delightful and welcoming. Safe depostit box at reception is excellent, you need two keys to open your box-you have one and reception keeps the other. Then staff cross check your details when you want to access it, VERY secure. Housekeeping staff were wonderful, changing all linen every day. if you stay here, look out for Dewa, he is gorgeous and nothing was too much trouble for him, we would have liked to bring him home :) Just a tip, I wouldnt eat at the hotel for dinner, too pricey and not very enjoyable. But overall a great stay, would definately stay here again.

We booked a one bedroom apartment but when we arrived it looked really tired and had a nice view of the brick wall of the apartment block next door. We asked to be moved to a deluxe room which was actually cheaper but we received no money back.

The deluxe room was very nice, on the ground floor leading out onto beautiful gardens. The staff were friendly and the hotel is in an excellent spot right on the beach. Buffet breakfast was huge and had a big variety of hot and cold food.

Our problem was the other guests. They were rowdy, noisy and mostly drunk (even at 10am in the morning). We didn't use the pool area at all because of them. I suppose with the cheap airfares from Perth anyone can afford to travel overseas now. Parents sat around in big groups drinking all day and the children were totally unsupervised. Running around and jumping into to the pool splashing and upsetting other guests. It all gave new meaning to the word trailer trash.

Overall good hotel but not when the package deals are on. We stayed a week and then moved to a small losman nearby which was beautiful, almost in the same position and we didn't have to put up with yobboes.

We had a very positive experience with this hotel. The rooms were clean (including the bathroom) the linen was changed daily and the bathroom freshened up. The air-con went continuously while we were there without any problems. The breakfasts that were included were absolutely fantastic. It was my son's first trip and he absolutely loved it (and he is fussy). The pools and gardens are immaculate and the staff are typically friendly. We are going back next year and taking the whole family (including grandparents). Kim and Cal

Have stayed in these apartments before....beware of the private apartments. Booked in good faith. Turned out to be absolutely disgusting. Could not touch anything in the apartment for fear of picking up something. Been to Bali 6 times and don't get me wrong...brilliant place for a holiday...we paid for our two nights but could not get the hotel to help as private...Hendaru then issued an email threatening to have us in the District Court and stopping us at immigration on the way home. Also advised we had stolen a deck chair..wtf..only paid part of the monies on the balance of not staying due to group being scared off. We got home safe...but strangely enough...out of the six of us...five have come down with carbuncles, boils etc. Never happened in Bali before...stay away from this deal on the internet as the hotel management just kept saying..privately owned. We not only had to deal with our plight but every time we went to reception to get the problem sorted...someone else was having very similar problems...STAY AWAY
