The Jayakarta Bali Beach Resort
Ranked #55 of 88 Hotels in Legian
Reviewed September 18, 2009

my husband myself and my two kids stayed at the jayakarta in a one bed room apartment.ok the view of the hotel being built next door was a interesting view,it was kind of fun watching the guys on the constrution sight each day,how the balinese work so hard for such a small amount of money.anyway the hotel was great, great breakfast, beautiful pool, and had a lot of fun bartering with the guys on the beach.ok the room was a bit tired looking, but it was clean, and who cares, your in bali, relax and take in the culture.the people are kind, and they love australians.(they even know some classic kath&kim saying).how funny.we had a great time and we are heading back there again next year.

After reading some of the previous reviews before going I was very worried about this hotel.I need not have, yes the bathroom was a little tired but was clean and cleaned every day as were the sheets changed every day. The staff were lovely , and we made many friends around the pool area. We are two 50 something ladies and felt relaxed and pampered during our stay in the deluxe room. Beds were wonderful. I witnessed a couple throwing their weight around even before they saw their room, demanding and very rude to the front staff. I think maybe some people have little respect for others and feel that if they are away in a foreign country you can treat the locals like servants. Well we didn't and were treated with respect, which is how we treated the staff. There was always a smile and a wave which made out stay great. Remember everyone, it is a 3 star hotel, a very good one at that, perfect outlook across the beach. There is a old saying that you get a lot further with sugar than vinegar. Maybe some of the "ugly australians" should take note and they too would have a wonderful holiday like we did.

Cheers

Michelle

My wife and I stayed at the Jayakarta for 4 nights in a superior room. We arrived at 10 AM, although check in shouldn't be until 2 PM, they immediately let us into our room to deposit our luggage, even though it hadn't been cleaned. This was prioritised immediately and it was ready within the hour. The room location was fantastic, with ocean and pool views over the tennis court. Yes, the rooms are tired as the hotel is aging, but hey, it's Bali. The room was cleaned each day to a high standard. The fridge had frosted up and couldn't be closed. It was changed within 15 minutes of a phone call to reception. The buffet breakfast included was good, but as the hotel was full, so were the restaurants in the mornings. Didn't eat at the hotel for any other meals, but with the number and quality of restaurants nearby, why would you. Pool area and gardens are sensational. Would recommend and stay again.

Just returned from Jayakarta Hotel, have stayed here previously, this time we found it absolutely fine, yes rooms are a bit older, but had no problems at all, aircon fine, clean,
rooms ,cleaned well every day, gardens are immaculate, pool area very crowded and it is hard to get a bed, breakfast was plentiful with a wide choice from eggs, noodles, cereal ,pastries, staff were very efficient. Restaurants out on the beachfront were great and very reasonable best for us was Zanzibar. Overall no complaints at all.

We thought we would pay a little more for a apartment but was very disappointed. We had to move once because of the construction going on and the new room was just as bad. The mattresses we were given for our little boys were stained & disgusting & the fold out couches they were on need replacing. Food & drinks very expensive compared to outside of hotel. Would not recommend this hotel to my friends !

Well what can I say?
If you are planning to spend time in the hotel room, look again. We stayed in a deluxe room and found the room to be smaller than your run of the mill hotel room. The bathroom was generally in desperate need of a good scrub. The white bed linen though changed everyday was always stained with blood and god knows what else... The balcony was tiny and overlooked a construction site. The reception desk was always busy and swarming with complaints in general from unhappy travellers.
On a more positive note, if you are young and looking for a party stay or if you are happy to overlook these issues in favour of budget, this may be the place for you. The outdoor facilities are excellent and seemingly well maintatined. The location is pretty good too and the staff seemed friendly enough also. The hotel is right on the beach and maybe 10 mins walk away from central Kuta.
A couple of things to know... Do not book airport transfers through the hotel as these are well overpriced. Catch a blue metered taxi instead. They are easy to flag from the street or they are continually dropping at the Hotel also. Also if you want to suntan by the pool, we found that the guests were getting up early in the morning and placing personal belongings on the limited number of sunbeds thus securing the bed for the day. A little rude, but seems this is the way things work here. Also the disco noise is quite loud at night, not from Jayakarta itself but neighbouring properties. This was not a concern for us but maybe for other travellers. Also at about midnight it seemed was the time to let fireworks off on the beach, it was a little concerning on the first night hearing the explosions but after realising it was only fireworks it blends into the atmosphere of the nightlife.
Personally I will not be recommending this hotel to my family or friends as I am sure that there would be more suitable accomodation in this price range.
