On arrival we checked into our Superior Pool View room, as recommended by travel agent. In a word it was disgusting - furniture falling apart, light fittings hanging out of the walls, not to mention two single beds (apparently we booked twin share?). After much complaining, we were moved to a Deluxe Garden room - slightly better, but very old & dirty, furniture broken & again 2 single beds. After one night, we demanding moving again - for US $10/night got a 1 bedroom apartment at the front of the complex (Club Bali - which is in the "Residence" part of the complex). This was a vast improvement in all respects, would recommend to anyone considering this hotel to elect for one of these. (Our review ratings are for the hotel, not the residence apartment we stayed in - which was quite good).
As the hotel was at near full occupancy, it was impossible to get a lounge chair at any of the three pools (which along with the gardens were lovely), all seemed to be "booked" by about 8am, with towels over them (obviously this being done in the night). Having breakfast included in our package was nothing special either, we ate there no more than twice & it was below average.
The staff seemed in general to be friendly & helpful, the location is very good, lovely restaurants nearby, good shops & opposite the beach. Unfortunately the place is just very old & needs a refurbishment, and didn't seem to cope well with large numbers of guests.

We arrived here the day after my daughters' wedding in ubud, where we stayed at a lovely small hotel called the Saren Indah, which was perfect even though only rated 3 star. The location is great and the foyer of the Jayakarta is very large and looks wonderful and the staff were all very helpful and welcoming. After we climbed the three sets of stairs to our rooms, I was a little put back at the general old shabby feel about them. They are in dire need of an upgrade, as the floor tiles were dirty, the linen even had staines and one of these looked like a blood stain, the cane chair with cusions were supposed to be white, but closer to black with more staines. The bathroom had a very smelly drain, and the bath was also stained. Such a shame because the rest of the hotel is quite lovely. No complaints about the breakfasts, lots to choose from, staff very friendly, and the pools were well kept. This is obviously recommended by travel agents in australia as every second person was. If you have been given this hotel as a recommendation just check it out first on all the reviews. :o(

we have stayed at the jayakarta hotels in bandung and jakarta , both have been satisfactory . however this hotel is a disgrace !! the bathroom drains smell the enamel is worn off the bottom of the bath and generally dirty . the bedroom furniture is old and broken , the air con did not function , the kettle was broken , the walls and ceiling were dirty and stained . the balcony rail was loose and unsafe . and this room was an upgrade after we complained about the first one offered .the whole fabric of this hotel is old and crumbling and should be demolished yesterday . !! beware use the gymnasium at your peril . no hairdrier/electric iron/ room safe provided . we could go on if space permitted . we advise you to ! spend your hard earned money ,at a better , cheaper ,cleaner hotel there are plenty , ask your travel agent or read the revues

Stayed for 2 nights at the Jayakarta in a Deluxe Room in 400-block. Had to request a different room because the first room we were given (even number) face out towards the perimeter wall of the complex and there was very noisy construction going on in the lot next door. Second room (odd number) faces in towards the garden/inner courtyard and was much better though you can still hear the construction noise. I agree with other reviewers that you should immediately check the room you are given and insist on an acceptable quality.

Room quality and cleanliness was OK. Bathroom was OK and everything works but it does look dirty (water stains, etc), and have a musty smell.

Gardens and pools very nice, love the direct beach access. Very convenient location, walking distance to Jalan Legian. Lots of places to eat around the hotel, though almost all are sit-down restaurants. Hard to find a cheap, quick place to eat within walking distance.

Booked last minute through holidaycity.com and paid US$96/night (all in). Definitely overpaid, but it was high-season and I was desperate. Would stay here again, but not for that price.

I have written previous posts about how much I liked and enjoyed this hotel - but was greatly disappointed on our trip in May. Firstly we were given rooms at the back of the hotel, they called them garden view rooms - but I dont call looking at a staircase of another building "garden". My husband and kids who had never been to the hotel before hated the rooms. We ended up down grading (at our loss) our delux rooms to superior rooms to move closer to the beach side of the hotel - which we all thought appeared cleaner than the rooms we were originally allocated. After much complaint we ended up changing rooms nearer to the pool. On our first night in our new rooms my husband woke to some crinkling noises and turned on the light to investigate. He moved the fridge and a RAT ran underneath our bed. We called up the room guys at 2am who came and turned the bed over, made a half hearted search of the room and offered us our old rooms back again. My husband found rat traps on top of the wardrobes in both of our rooms, so clearly they have a rodent problem.
The hotel have opened another section of the hotel to deal with the full occupancy and breakfast. This hotel clearly cant cope with being at full occupancy - as the breakfasts have declined from yummy to inedible. We only used one of our breakfast vouchers here an opted to eat out every other day as it was awful.

The pool and garden areas are still great, although my kids had really red eyes from the chlorine used in the pool near the beach, and you could literally smell the chlorine as you walked past it.

I had real issues with their lack of in room safe - as this time you had to sign a note saying you would pay $100US if you lost your safety deposit key. You dont even charged this if lose a key at Waterbom park.

Our room guy who appeared to have no english kept on walking into my girls rooms as soon as he would knock while they were still in bed and we had to put the do not disturb sign up to keep him out.

There is now a glossy room service card in the room but I cant recall room service ever being so expensive before

All in all - this hotel has declined significantly and is not coping with the increased occupancy rates of hotels in the area.
