“Private Apartment 6418 2 brm Jayakarta Resort Apartments Greg Cooper”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

Have just returned from staying in this apartment. It was clean, roomy and perfect for our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids under 8).
It is on the 4th floor, with the balcony facing next doors hotel corridor. This didn't worry us as we never sat out there. It is located at the rear of the hotel, in the Residence Building.
Tv and dvd in every room, large water cooler with fresh bottled water restocked as required. Large fridge and dining table, perfect for doing breaky in the room occaisonally.
Lounge room has large coffee table, and 2 comfy lounges (one folds out to a sofabed I think). I nice rug on the floor meant the kids could sit on the floor at the coffee table and play/draw etc, without sitting directly on tiles!
Both rooms have own bathroom, one has a shower/bath and the other just a shower. Beds are firm and very comfy, I slept in the ?King bed with my 8&4 yr olds with enough room for all of us :)
Komang the housekeeper was helpful and friendly, and offered to take our washing but we had already arranged this.
Communicating with the owner Greg Cooper prior to leaving Oz was easy via email.
We would definitely stay here again. Only negative is the apartment is a fair walk from the pools. We have stayed in the Residence Building 3 times now (various apts), and although the pool walk is the furtherest in the hotel, and annoying at times, we just get on with it when we're there! Kids don't seem to mind too much :)

Stayed for 4 nights in what they kept trying to tell us was a deluxe room.Arrived to find room had been cancelled which meant we worried throughout about having to pay again.Similar to lots of other reviews the hotel needs an upgrade. The room we had needed a thorough clean and we were only offered a room which was not any better. The staff were unhelpful and lied to us and didn't seem to understand our problem.I felt so sorry for the people who were arriving to book in !!!

It's our first time to the Jayakarta and we loved it. Yes it's a little tired, and the cleaning leaves a little to be desired but we're going back next year. The breakfast was great with plenty to choose from and was constantly refilled. The staff were very friendly and changed our room immediately when asked ( DON'T STAY NEAR THE POOL) too many inconsiderate people at all hours of the night. Location is fabulous, go out to the beach front late in the afternoon and have a Bintang with the Balinese. Restaurants abound outside. Shopping great too. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Don't go to the Jayakarta expecting The Hilton.

After reading the reviews I was a little nervous. We were pleasantly surpised. Our rooms were clean, comfortable and a nice garden outlook. We had Deluxe rooms. We were given interconnecting rooms as per our request. The Staff were friendly and professional and we were given late check out for our room at no extra charge.
Breakfast was great. If things ran out due to busy periods they were replenished quickly.
Yes the hotel is a bit tired but you pay for what you get. Location is great with the beach just out your door. Pools are good too.
The entertainment was Traditional Balinese story telling/dancing which my kids loved.
Lots of restaurants along the road or more relaxed ones on the sand in Seminyak (10mins walk along the beach).

Room Tip: rooms away from the pool will be quieter at night

My partner our 2.5 year old and I stayed here for two weeks for two weeks from June through to July. We had originally booked the 1 bedroom apartment only to be told we had been moved to a garden view room. I was appalled at the state of this room, 3 single beds all hard as rocks. Lots of mosquito's throughout the room and a damp smelling small room. Plus we had no hot water and had to have a cold shower and bathe our son in that.
We stayed here 1 night and asked to be moved immediately to the 1 bedroom apartments we had originally booked. Although this was a massive improvement from our previous accommodation, it was still bad. Again mosquito's throughout the room, sand all over the floor. The bed was hard as a rock again, and we found it extremely difficult to have a good sleep on it. After requesting on emails prior to our arrival and requesting before we were moved our sons bed was still not made and had to wait over 2 hours before it could be made, disturbing his nap.
The room overall was dated, dirty and the bath/ shower didn't drain correctly and often didn't drain until the morning.
Breakfast was extremely disappointing, Poor selection, fruits straight out of a can and covered in sugary syrup. Limited healthy options provided. Plus food was rarely replenished after the breakfast rush and if you happened to be late, options were even more limited. We opted on many occasions to eat out at other cafe's.
Children's play equipment is very limited and dated little entertainment provided for children beside half naked brazillian dancers and beer chugging competitions. Not exactly a family environment.
The only positive thing about the hotel is the gardens, they are beautiful.

I keep reading some reviews about the Jayakarta, how people are not happy with the rooms but are very happy with location and pools. We stay in the same privately owned apartment the are owned by Australians every year, they are called Garrisons Bali Jayakarta Apartments. We have had the best holidays staying with them. I understand that a lot of people don't know about the privately owned apartments, but do yourself a favour and look at apartment 6202 , their website is www.garrisonsbalijayakartaapartments.com You can also contact the owners direct.
The best service and best value and the apartments are larger than the hotel rooms.

Room Tip: Apartment 6202 block A.....Highly recommend!!!

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Jayakarta for 5 nights and were very dissapointed. Firstly, the staff did not escort us to our rooms properly, we carried our own bags around the hotel / up stairs in the heat. Secondly, they gave us two single beds instead of one double bed as we requested and paid for. They moved us to a new room with double bed however the airconditioner was broken. We moved back the the original room with two single beds and the staff had placed a rug over the two beds to make it feel like a double bed.. thinking this was acceptable. My Boyfriend made a complaint to the Manager and we were upgraded to the Superior room. It was only until we complained; that they then escorted us to the new room. It was neat but the hot water did not work, so we had cold showers.. The only nice thing I can say about this Hotel is the location / pool. The Breakfast was horrible infact. The rooms need refurbishment and proper lighting also. A very average stay & misleading photos!
