“Perfectly fine semi budget with great location and happy staff”
Reviewed October 12, 2011

This place ticked most of our boxes so we booked it, mainly cost, location, had breakfast included and so on. Stayed for 7 days with two adjoining rooms. Staff happy and polite and always ready to help us, rooms cleaned and made up everyday early. The rooms have no safes but the place has a central security setup which to our initial surprise worked very well and we felt much happier with that system rather than safes. Can't tell you about pool except we did notice people reserve the seats EARLY !!!! mofo's shouldn't really be allowed i guess for all to have a fair crack. Place is well used and not the latest modern accomodation, but our water was always fast and hot, bed comfy big n clean. Don't know if TV worked never used it, rooms quite soundproof, and there is really FA noise at Legian anyway. BTW booked online with one of the many online providers and had no issues with payment of any sort. WOULD SAY .... BALI .... do something about that S/hole DPS airport, make sure you give yourself 2 hrs for departure. Cheers and have a great holiday.

The Jayakarta hotel is located on a large property if you are staying at the front of the hotel it is a little walk to where breakfast the bar and pool are, breakfast was good with enough to choose from. If you are after a day beside the pool then you will need to get in early to get a spot (more setting is needed) but heaps of room two swim.

We did have an issue with our toilet in the room and as it wasn’t able to be fixed right away we were moved to another room, we stayed in a one bedroom apartment and it was nice enough with one king bed and a sofa bed for the kids.

At the front of the hotel there are plenty of restaurants to have lunch or dinner and the post office down the road was a good place to change money and to have the laundry done.

Staff were great and did the best to look after their guest, however there was one lady at the main breakfast restaurant who put me off a few times at the way she spoke to guest, which supersized me as I have been to Bali a few times and have never seen a hotel staff member be that way towards guest.

I enjoyed the buffet dinner and culture night that happens every Tuesday, food and entrainment were both wonderful.

Checked in for 5 nights into 2 delux rooms. One room had a very musty smell which did not go away and was unpleasant every time we returned from outside. After 2 days of complaints and persistent request for room change we were moved on the 3rd out of 5 nights into a room without a smell. Also, weird check in rule where they demanded payment up front for the whole of stay (over $1000) despite having previously reserved and confirmed rooms with credit cards. One room also not available until 7pm despite our up front payment. Rate charged higher than original quote but explained by charging different conversion rate (poorer $A to rupiah exchange rate than available elsewhere in Bali). Very hard to argue when checking in with bags etc. Have stayed at much better for the same rate but it was peak school holiday times and pool / grounds and location are positives.

Arrived early evening 25th Sep 11 told that we had to pay upfront the whole amount owing before they could hand over the key. Wasn't happy. I have travelled the world and have never been asked this before. We ordered a deluxe room away from kids as we were trying to have a restful break. Our room was a disgrace. The toilet running, sticky substance and ants in the room and old TV we couldn't get to work! (This was our deluxe experience) We complained about our accommodation and they moved us to a 1 bedroom apartment in the front of the hotel. Little bit cleaner but old just the same. The balcony faced onto the street and the noise on occasion was enough to make someone pull hair. Entwined within the street noise was the 2am and 3am wakeup calls the quiet drunken partygoers who were in the next room coming home from the clubs. We tried to have a nanna nap around the pool but you could never get a deck chair or pool service. There are NO adults areas free from screaming meanies whilst their parents drink their duty free grog in the sun. Tired from that experience during the day we tried an afternoon kip in our room because the party-goers where asleep or on another bender. No such luck because mum and dads had retired to their rooms as well and let their kids play chasey and tag like a pack of thundering elephants up and down the hallways. We tried to complain but the staff just laughed at us and nothing was done. There was no room safe, no complimentary water bottles, no service. If I had not paid for the room upfront I would have moved. My early wakeup call was 15mins late and I only made my flight on time through sheer prayer and gods will. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Deluxe room, your joking. Danielle Perth Sept 2011

I have stayed at Jayakarta apartments with grandchildren on two previous occasions and they were so well suited to our needs that we are going back at Xmas this year with six kids and four adults (I must be a masochist).
There are plenty of restaurants nearby out the front gate of Jayakarta but the only thing I found annoying about these restaurants is that they did not have 'kids' size meals. Some of our kids eat like little sparrows and adult portions either put them off or are wasted. Given that Jayakarta is a family type property with loads of kids staying there you would think that some of the nearby restaurants would cater for kids size meals. I have tried asking for small protion sizes without much success.
The only other option is to order one dish for two kids which is allright if they want to eat the same thing.
Be interested to see if any other Jayakarta stayers with kids have suffered the same problem or if you know of any restaurants near Jayakarta apartments that cater for kids

We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment. We chose the apartments as we have 2 small children 4 and 2 and we wanted 2 rooms - this fell into our budget. The eldest stayed in the fold out bed in the kitchen living area, we had a port-a cot in this room also. In the main bedroom was our bed.
The room itself was fine, would benefit from a renovation though. We just found it old and run down. The cupboard above the sink fell off when we opened it and nearly missed our youngest, the robe/cupboards for clothes in the main bedroom was hard to open and not enough storage for a family.
The bathroom was fine -basic, we did have a couple of problems with the toilet, the staff fixed upon request. The tv in the main bedroom had terrible reception.
The rooms arent anything fancy, we hadnt paid fancy prices, so really get what you pay for.
From the apartments to the pool it is a bit of a walk, about 3-5 minutes with kids.
The pool area was lovely, great little pool for the kids. The grounds were also very nice. There is a little play area for the kids, nothing much and my kids only used it once or twice.
The buffet breakfast was fine, had the general cereals, fruits, pastries and egg station.
We would go back to this hotel, but it wouldnt be our first choice.

Booked a delux room, not sure if it was. Fantastic location, breakfast, close to great restaurants on the beach. Pool needed lots more deckchairs as people put their towels on them and went away shopping, need more umbrellas. Overall happy with hotel and will stay there again if they only would upgrade bathroom.

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms near pool with swim up bar if you want it quieter.
