“good location”
Reviewed January 19, 2012

we stayed as a family and my husband and i got upgraded to the lanai room on arrival which was very nice. Our son, daughter and nephew (17, 20 and 25 ) shared a quad room, also very nice but the electricity kept going off and therefore they didn't have electricity for some of the time. They tried to fix it but it kept going off which was annoying because they would have slept better with the airconditiong on. Nevertheless, the place was clean, the grounds quiet, and the pool lovely. Nice short stroll to jalan melasti street and also garlic lane where there are lots of nice bars, shops and restaurants. Overall i would recommend this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for 12 nights and enjoyed coming back to our clean, cool room after being out in the hustle and bustle of Bali all day. Staff were helpful and friendly but it was a bit off-putting to be asked for a tip by the room cleaning guy after about four days and again the day before we left. While we were happy to tip, it was a bit awkward to be asked for one. The other two issues were the Australian bogans who got drunk around the pool most nights and getting a wake up call from reception at 5.30am instead of 6.30am. For the rest though, the hotel is good value and in a good location although next time I would prefer Seminyak, Kerobokan or Sanur.

Room Tip: Best to get a room overlooking a pool

Just returned from spending 5 days at AlamKulKul and I will certainly go back. This resort was so close to the Kuta hub and yet was a peaceful tranquil haven to return to at night. The villa we stayed in was beautifully appointed and clean. The staff friendly prompt and helpful.
The individual villas featured beautiful traditional Balinese decor(and a thatched roof). The resort is set in beautiful well-maintained gardens.
The breakfast buffet was delicious and featured both East and West cuisine.
The coffee lounge and bar opened early so for lovers of a coffee...... a great way to start the day.
The restaurant attached to the resort served amazing food and cheap fresh fruit cocktails. You have got to try the chocolate cake(for which they won a prize) and the volcano pizza!!!!
I am a 50 something woman and this resort had absolutely everything I could have dreamed of !! I was able to just cross the road and walk each morning on the beach, have my coffee on the balcony, walk to Kuta for shopping or opt for the RP10000 scooter ride, swim and laze by the pool when shopping got too much and just relax in the most tranquil gardens surrounding the resort. On the down side if there is to be one....there were lots of mosquitoes so keeping doors closed was important to stop their influx.....
I loved my stay here and I highly recommend this resort.
Thank-you to the staff for making my stay extremely enjoyable.

I stayed at Alam KulKul last year at the same time with friends and had a fantastic time with nothing but praise for the resort and staff but unfortunately it did not start the same way this time around!
We arrived a little before the check in time so ddecided to book in anyway and then head off and get lunch before our room was available. When we were shown to our room it was no where near as impressive as last year and smelt terribly of mould and the air conditioner had left a bg puddle of water on the floor.
After ringing reception and pointing out the room was either going to cause us physical injury through the wet floor or internal injury by smelling mould constantly they promptly sent someone out to fix the aircon. We were also shown another room but unfortunately it was the furtherest room on the resort and we were not going to stay there. So back to reception we went and even though the room was now full of other travellers trying to check in a receptionist still came up to us and tried to help us come to a solution. The General Manager also walked past at this time and recognised us from our previous stay the year before so through that we were able to pay a little bit more and be upgraded to a villa room. The room was lovely after that and we had no problems at all.
I would still recommend the Alam KulKul as the location, staff, pools and rooms are still better than many hotels I have stayed in while holidaying in Kuta.

Our stay at AlamKulKul was very pleasant & mostly peaceful & relaxing!

The staff were very friendly and accommodating – when we had issues with noise (you want piece & quiet in your room when you are on your honeymoon) they were more than happy to accommodate our needs by moving us to another room.

The pool areas are beautiful and well maintained. The grounds and gardens are always pristine and perfect.

The location is sensational – just seconds walk to sensational restaurants & shopping.

If you surf there is a decent surf break directly across the road from the entrance of the hotel which my husband surfed daily.

All in all we highly recommend this resort and look forward to staying again.

We enjoyed our time at AlamKulKul. The staff were great, and hotel grounds pretty. Good location. And Papa's restaurant out the front is excellent. We only had one problem with the room, but they were quick to rectify it.

When I stayed at the Alam Kul Kul 6 years ago I enjoyed the personal touch this villa resort had. Now it has even more improved - and you feel welcome and at home.

Once you step into the Kul Kul you forget about the busy streets outside.
When you're in your villa, you don't really want to leave. I did not even turn on my HD 62' TV set. Every little detail is thought of at this property.
The pool is small, but beautiful. The Italian Restaurant "Papas" is on of the best in Bali. The staff calles you by your name and smiles. Service is quiet, efficient and complete.
I will be back.

Room Tip: Worth investing into your own private villa.
