Getting to Bali from the UK can be expensive especially if you are travelling with a family of four and then there is accommodation. Going at peak period of July meant both flight and hotel prices would be high and initial quotes seemed to indicate we might have to look for an alternative destination until the travel agent found us the Club Bali Suites based at the Jakarta Hotel in Legian.
We wanted to be nearby Kuta and having the use of the facilities of the Jakarta hotel but at a much nice price then this seemed like a great deal and we would have breakfast included as well.
The Club Bali suites are located at the two front buildings as you enter from the official gates. It seems that these buildings also have other companies running apartments such as the Sejuk Suites. They have their own reception where you can check in. We go to our hotel late in the evening and we got a third floor room. We had a bedroom with a double bed with a balcony, bathroom and a living room/kitchenette. The living room had a TV and sofa bed that can be turned into a double bed so the room sleeps four. The kids had the sofa bed and truth be told it would be suitable for kids but would be too springy for adults.
The kitchen had a cooker, microwave, fridge and a water cooler which they kept topped up. The rooms would be cleaned everyday and there were bath towels provided but not hand towels. We had enough closet space and drawers for our clothes but there is no in room safe. If you have valuable there have safes elsewhere but then it becomes inconvenient.
We had American breakfast included but this is eaten at a café/bar called Tekor Bali about 400 meters from the hotel. We are given a voucher that we gave to the café but it can only be used for American breakfast only. It was ok, they had free wifi but the breakfast did become repetitive and service was a bit erratic. In the last few days of our holiday we opted to take buffet breakfast at the nearby Kumala Pantai hotel at about £4.00 per adult as we fancied a change.
Away from the Club Bali Suites we made extensive use of the Jayakarta hotel such as its various pools, play area and its regular shuttle to Kuta Square. We would get beach towels from the Club Bali reception and plonk them down on two loungers on the way to breakfast ensuring that one we returned we would have sun loungers that we can use or else it would be pot luck as to when one would become available.
The hotel from the back is opposite the beach and the overall location of the hotel meant that its at a bustling part of Legian with restaurants, cafes, massage places, shops, markets and internet cafes.
The reception do charge rather a lot for late checkout but we did manage to arrange to use the shower facilities and change our clothes at a separate room as we had an early evening plane to take whilst our luggage was stored at reception.
The TV reception could had been better, the furnishings could had been a little brighter and some of bath towels had seen better days but overall in comparison with the money we paid for the suites I would give it 4 stars.
