This review falls into two clear parts; the first explains what I consider poor customer service from the management regarding our booking. It smacked of complacency and left a really bad taste in our mouth. The second part details the resort and, in a way, makes the first point more frustrating as generally we eventually had a great time there.

Without doubt, this would have been a five star review except for the fact our booking was handled dreadfully before we arrived.. It is a lovely place but we felt that the management lacked a personal touch and left us feeling misled and ignored.

We booked a Deluxe room through trip.com and requested by email a quiet room away from the road in advance. We were emailed back to say we had in fact booked the very basic level and couldn’t be guaranteed a quiet room or with a balcony! Even though I sent screenshots through our booking showing a Deluxe room reservation the hotel refused to help and told me that their booking partner had got it wrong. Surely that is up to them to resolve and not us?

To exacerbate this, our flight into Bali was cancelled meaning we payed the hotel for one night we did not stay. I emailed them to ask if they could therefore use any funds we had paid for the room we didn’t use could be used to make sure we got a deluxe room.

I didn’t get a reply.

I copied the General Manager in on two emails and they didn’t respond either. The net result was, after taking two full days to get there and being exhausted, the first request on checking in was to pay them an extra $80 for the room we had actually booked – not a very nice welcome at all.

One other example of the poor customer service was their response to our "quiet room" request. Although I reiterated this at check in we were put next to the lift, very near to the tennis court and had noisy people above us. Immediately in front of our balcony builders started work at 8am every morning - not what I consider quiet!

Having said all that, this is a lovely resort!

We enjoyed our four nights there (not the five we had hoped for!) and it has a lot going for it.

Getting there – it is a 20 minute taxi ride from the airport into the lovely gardens of the hotel.

The hotel will pick you up but their price is £23. (Many hotels offer a free airport pick up \ drop-off). In the end we used a company called Klook who were great. Their price was nearly a quarter of the cost at £7 and the driver was waiting for us in an air-conditioned minivan right outside the airport exit.

Location – perfect.

This is an established resort and is just over the road from the beach. The road is pedestrianised so it is quite quiet. You are also very near to a much busier Melasti road and note some rooms back onto this and I guess they will be noisy.

It is a short walk into the centre of everything. You are never far from an ATM, convenience stores and the beach front has lots of nice restaurants around it so location is great.

Rooms – we (eventually!) ended up in a deluxe room which was lovely.

They are very solidly built so you get only a little internal noise to disturb you. The beds were quite hard but we slept really well and the air-conditioning was effective.

All the usual things you need for a comfortable stay are there including safe, bathrobes, umbrellas (definitely needed in the rainy season), dressing gowns, TV and so on. The bathroom is nicely laid out, big and again with everything you need.

Our favourite place though was our balcony which had a comfortable settee, clothes dryer, two chairs and a table. We spent ages here in the morning and evening overlooking the beautiful gardens and the wildlife.

Wi-Fi – free for unlimited devices and ran at a very respectable 28gb.

No need for constant logging in and it reached everywhere including the rooms and pools. A real plus point for the hotel.

Pools – another strength for the resort.

There are two of them all with very comfortable sun loungers around them and very little bed reservation. There is a 1 hour removal of belongings policy but this didn't appear to be implemented on the occasions it did happen.

This was the low season and we never had any problem getting two beds together and moved around the two pools during the day depending on shade and so on. It is nice they have separate areas for children and for smokers.

Food – because there are so many great restaurants around the area we didn’t eat in the hotel in the evening.

Breakfast was really good though. Served in their lovely restaurant overlooking the beach it has something for everyone. A wide range of international and Indonesian dishes are there – both hot and cold. The juice was really good, the coffee not so much. The service was so friendly and warm and this was a high spot of the day.

Staff – other than the debacle before we checked in they were very good indeed. Pool boys and bar staff were great fun and very professional. Smiles never far from their faces.

It was always going to be difficult for the hotel to get us back on the side after what I considered poor treatment with our booking. Trying to reorganise cancelled flights in a foreign airport is hard enough without hotel management disputing a booking you have evidence of. Their mission statement talks of being "your home away from home" - it certainly didn't feel like that at that moment!!

Without this, think I would’ve seemed completely different and, as I said before, it would’ve been a five star review.

Room tip: Booking a "Standard Deluxe" could mean a noisy room or one without a balcony.

My first trip to Bali was in 1970. Yikes, things have changed. But i stayed at the Legian Beach Hotel in 1985 and loved it. It has now been upgraded but is still an affordable gem. You should pop for the breakfast buffet, well worth it. My cottage was spotless and very comfortable. On the beach but i preferred to swim in the adult pool. outside there are countless shopping opportunities. Though the traffic is awful. will return.❤️👍

We booked directly with the hotel and got the romance package which included a free upgrade, a romantic dinner, a couples massage, airport transfer and 4 cocktails. I found this hotel great value for money. We stayed in garden bungalow 12A which was in a fantastic location, close to the pool as well as the breakfast area. The room was very clean - We have been to Bali many times and this is the cleanest room we have ever had(even though this was one of the cheaper places we have stayed at). The bed was really comfy - the pillows are quite flat (which we love) and the mattress was firm with a really soft topper. The aircon worked well. I loved the chairs and sun lounger on our verandah - even comes with an overhead fan to keep you cool! We were right outside the squirrel feeding tree so we had a fantastic view from our verandah and enjoyed sitting there. The bathroom is quite large and I loved the frosted glass window to the garden - at night with the light coming through the shadow of the plants looked really pretty.

The gardens around the hotel are beautiful. When looking at the hotel map you don't realize that all these paths have really tall beautiful trees and shrubs around it. It feels very lush and romantic.

Breakfast was good. It had a wide selection of food and was replenished frequently. Poached eggs and the option of both crispy and non crispy bacon were appreciated. We were in low season so there was always plenty of tables with nice views. Coffee isn't fantastic - in fact it was pretty horrible but that was the only negative.

The pools are great. The adults only pool is a bit small but as it was low season it was never crowded. There were plenty of sun loungers - although finding one with shade was a bit difficult at times. The only negative would be that its hard for the staff to see when you raise the flag. The gorgeous trees and umbrellas blocked their view and I often just ended up walking to them and asking for the menus. Once you had a menu they were quick to take your order.

My favourite place would be the loungers at the front of the hotel near Ole bar. The view is just gorgeous. The food at the restaurants was O.K. - not fantastic but certainly edible. They are fantastic with food allergies. With the taxes they are a bit pricey considering the price range of the hotel.

We only used the spa once - and this was the complementary massage. It was fantastic - I was a bit worried as the reception area isn't air conditioned but thankfully the rooms where you get your massage are.

Staff were amazing. Very friendly and helpful My husband is allergic to shellfish which they found out when we booked our romantic dinner and they remembered that. We never got to have the dinner as hubby got sick so they let me just eat in the restaurant for free. They also were very accommodating with late checkout.

We loved the location - so close to so many restaurants and spas. The hotel is right opposite the beach so you could sit on a bean bag at the beach and enjoy a bintang while watching the sunset.

I would recommend this hotel - especially the romance package as it was fantastic value for $.

After a long time, I was able to realize my dream of visiting Bali and while there, we stayed at the Legian Beach Hotel. Right from the entrance, we were bowled over by the sheer beautiful layout and the very picturesque surroundings of the hotel. The hotel scores extremely high in aesthetic appeal, the awesome rooms, proximity to the beach, the impeccable and highly courteous service given by the staff and the food options along with the various facilities. We were immensely pleased with the amount of greenery inside the hotel and the staff treated everyone like royalty. The bonus was the presence of two swimming pools and two jacuzzis, and the beach front bar transported us to a different world altogether. All in all, I highly recommend the Legian Beach Hotel to everyone visiting Bali and planning to stay in the Kuta region for a truly blissful and heavenly experience.

I am grateful that they upgraded me to a room on the ground floor with its own garden and seating area. I love the entire property with its two expansive pools set in a lush, quiet and private garden surrounded by quiet revelers and holidaymakers. To level up its privacy, the property isn't connected to the main road so it is really quiet compared to the nearby hotels like Citadines, Grand Istana, etc. The breakfast spread is also generous! I definitely will come back!
