Stayed in the Bungalows with my extended family 6th - 13th March 2009. Great location and staff always have a smile. Do take the breakfast supplement - you won't need lunch. The pools are nice and one has a swim-up bar. Lunches, dinner and drinks are overpriced given you can just walk out onto the street (or beach) to any number of venues. Although the bungalows badly need a make-over (the furniture is 1980's) the grounds are quiet and peaceful after the frenetic pace on the streets. A warning about money changers. The dodgy ones will cheat you at every opportunity and they can be identified by offering high rates of exchange with a figure guaranteed to confuse you when you receive the Rupiah. As an example the would offer Rs7,999 = $Aust1. Best change your money at authorised changers. Always count it and DO NOT let them pick it up after you have checked the notes. Also, always take a friend to watch.
In summary, the LGH is a pleasant hotel and venue and we will be staying there again. John (of Perth, W. Australia).

January 2009 x 11 nights. We loved the Legian Beach, from the moment we arrived till when we cried when we left. The staff were friendly & couldn't do enough for you, the pool bar would deliver the drinks to our room, the Gardens were immaculate, the gardeners even getting down cocunuts for the kids. Buffet breakfast one word, delicious. Location is close to everything, like they say location location location. The tour desk was very helpful, a bit dearer than the streets, but you get better vans & drivers that speak English to you (if youv'e been to Bali you know what I mean), also don't forget to negotiate with them. The Beach across the road was pretty awful for this time of the year, after being bombarded by hawkers the 1st day, don't pay more then 20,000 for your "Oakleys or Gucci Sunnies), they are friendly people, also don't change money on the beach go to the Kodak Shop across from the front entrance. Admittedly we stayed in Beach Bungalow Rooms near the pool, This is where you should book your accommodation, as the hotel rooms are too far from the pool, bar & restaurants on the property & I can see why people are disappointed. We have nothing but praise for the Legian Beach & can't wait to go back next year .

mmm 3 adults, 2 children... two deluxe garden bungalows paid for and breakfast...2 adults in 1 bungalow 3 in another...

when arrived had to wait 4hrs.. then it was wrong rooms.. then put us in 1 deluxe bugalow ( if thats what they call it at that price).. and the rest in an a joining room.. no other rooms are available we were told.. first room given air con not working properly, and no free water in bottles to use..( which is standard in nearly every hotel from 2 stars up)..my children 1 adult and 2 children were put in like us a joining room only. next rooms given, leaking roof, t.v.not working properly, and no batteries for remote, ( sounds petty im sorry but for the price you pay to stay at 5 star, that was just the start..). the managment at the pool side, watches you when you first arrive and seems to check you out.. it's really creepy. activies for this hotel for your money was not there, cooking when another freind was going to book was told sorry not on as no- one else has booked... my son for surfing activity was greeted with rudeness, ripped off with price, asked weather he cauld use boogie board instead and was told it another 30,000 rp... his freind and he went to beach and got great service outside the hotel, 50,000rp all day and they will help them with whatever they needed.. just like kuta does...
one family in the motel part had rats, they helped by putting rat trap under children s bed and caught it that night...( wow good on them).. another couple was flooded, thats ok .. but they did not change them to another room, just give them towels to help mop up( yes a 5 star)... we decided this was not going to ruin our family holiday of spending many dollars throu a travel agent and taking there word for it... the staff are wonderfull but you can see and cannot mention anything what is happening as the management is should we say has a control problem...
restrictions on where you can eat, and when.. they tell you where to sit... the times are there for open and closed but they do not comply with that...answer is " no staff cause very quiet).. again 5 star you are paying for.. answer; don't charge 5 star and get ripped off... let people know when booking there standards honestly, 1/2 problem with travel agent and very disappointing with price to pay at legian beach resort... and the management...

We stayed at the Garden Deluxe Bungalow for 4 days and 3 nights and had a wonderful time. Its a nice and quiet hotel if youre looking to relax. It was rainy season but the hotel provided a great size umbrella that we can use freely.

The only downside is that its quite far from the main shopping areas and restaurant as they are mostly on the other side of Kuta. However its a 10,000 rupiah taxi ride so not a big problem.
