“Just can't quite give it full marks....”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

What stopped me giving this hotel full marks was the dated decor. The furnishings in our room have seen better days (dents chips and scratches), some electrical fittings needed seeing to (light switches that don't quite work right), linen that would better belong in a 2 or 3 star (towels were too small for a 4 star, they were thin and old) and finally the staff uniforms need updating.
Can you see me nit-picking? The reason for this is that everything else in the hotel is fantastic, which makes these things stand out to me. Otherwise the grounds, the staff, the food (breakfast and room service), the pool, the location, the squirrels are all first rate. One thing that impressed on the last day was the fact we didn't need to have a late check-out (for pre 1155hr flight showers) as shower rooms are provided. A rough diamond that needs a little polish......

Room Tip: If you have a superior room, definitley go for one which faces towards the beach - nicer views and q...

My wife and 2 of our friends stayed here foe 6 days early Jan 2013. Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us to experience all of the facilities at the resort. As it was my wife's birthday the hotel arrange a surprise at both breakfast and dinner. Embarrassing to my wife but very funny! The staff were so friendly and made it an experience for my wife. Also when one of our friends got ill the staff again were extremely helpful and concerned. We had an enjoyable stay. The resort itself is now getting a little tired and in need of some attention, the bungalow was comfortable enough but I would question value for money here.

We stayed at the Legian Beach Hotel for 10 days over New Year, which was our third visit over the past 12 months. Once again our stay was very enjoyable, the staff are extremely pleasant and everyone will always go out of their way to make sure your experience staying at the hotel is what you expect. We always stay in one of the Garden Bungalows which are very quite and are set amongst beautiful gardens. The location is excellent right on the beach with easy access to shopping and restaurants. We look forward to returning sometime in 2013.

Room Tip: The Garden Bungalows are very quiet set amongst beautiful gardens. Thoroughly recommend.

This hotel is very nice, friendly staff and great location. However depending on which room you stay in can alter your feeling towards this hotel. Unfortunately we stayed in a room that shared a wall with the local market/local hangout... If you want to go to sleep early or sleep in or if you happen to want a nap in the day forget about it, it's constantly noisy! If this doesn't matter to you then it's fine staying in these rooms...
The hotel is in a great location close to everything in legian and close to kuta as well...
Staff were very friendly. Breakfast buffet is good. Hotel had lots of families with kids staying. So very family friendly. I'd stay in this hotel again but maybe next time in a private villa.

Stayed with family and friends in December 2012, our third stay over a six year period. Maybe we are getting a little bored with the place but it was different this time around in terms of service. On our first night the hotel was offering customers a free buffet dinner as a compensation for inconvenience due to renovations. Great idea but That'll teach us for being cheap- it was truly awful, almost inedible and in hindsight I would have paid just not to eat it! The legendary breakfasts weren't the same and the omelette chefs didn't seem to be able to meet the standards of the past. The seating for breakfast was a bit weird with an upstairs pancake area underutilized and over staffed. On the plus side, the pools are still excellent, and the location of the hotel is perfect. Finally, make sure you don't misplace a towel- we had to pay $25 on check out for what is probably a $5 towel. We have taken 4 bungalows at a time for 3 separate stays but when you get a charge like that makes you think twice about next time. Who wants to spend their holiday keeping track of towels with teenagers!

We ( a family of four) have just checked out after seven nights and enjoyed the experience: good food and location and the staff were always friendly and helpful.

Value for money though? Questionable and I would agree with other reviewers that it's not four-star standard, in that there was a run-down feel to the place and there were a few annoyances that may or may not trouble guests (eg dvd player didn't work, noisy neighbours, leaking cistern, exorbitant hire rates for tennis court which I never saw used and replacing items such as towels).

For those with children: apart from the (decent) pools there's no other entertainment such as table tennis tables, basketball rings. There's also no kids' club; my understanding is there was one until a reviewer kindly pointed out its absence on this site.

We stayed in the family suite with the mezzanine room upstairs, which made things a tad difficult in terms of when the kids were asleep downstairs. The rooms were also a bit dark and claustrophobic.

Management could also try to be more communicative about features such as upcoming live entertainment (gamelan orchestra and contemporary band) and the existence of very pleasant pancake/waffle bar upstairs.

But overall it's not a bad hotel and we stress we enjoyed the experience. It's just that now we've also stayed at apartment accommodation in Sanur for a couple of days we realise there's better value.

A hint: Avoid the steep laundry rates: Sarah who works out side the Kodak shop directly opposite will do it as a fraction of the price, as will other places nearby.

We were a bit hesitant after booking this hotel as there were some not so good reviews posted. We were pleasantly surprised! We arrived & found the check in process a breeze. We were quickly escorted up to our superior room - limited view on the 2nd floor, room 201. The room was clean, massive 4-posted bed, flat screen TV, balcony and marble bathroom. The airconditioning was awesome, best air cond we have had in all the places we have stayed in Bali so far. The CD player in the room also played DVD's which was handy when we were laid up with Bali belly & a bit of wet weather. Breakfast each morning was sufficient - the pancake & waffle station was great!

We stayed over new years however as we booked through Hoteltravel.com we were not required to take part in their compulsory NYE Gala Dinner, which is a rip off at $175 pp.

The pool area was lovely, we found it easy enough to get pool loungers each time we went. They could probably improve on the food & drinks service around the pool though, it seemed non existent each time we wanted a drink. The fitness center is also still getting built so there is no gym at the moment.

The location is great, right on the beach close to so many restaurants & shops. We wouldn't hesitate in booking to stay here again!

Room Tip: superior limited view rooms are fine - we had room 201 & would stay there again!
