“The Aroma was the bathroom drain”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2012

We were booked in at The Aromas for 4 nights, my understanding was that this was a new hotel no more than one year old,the pool area looked lovely and from the outside the hotel looks quite new, I figured that it should be ok,

Upon arrival we were shown straight to our 2 bedroom apartment even though we were early. The room was tiny and the smell from the bathroom was disgusting, we requested another room and we were moved next door which was identical minus the smell. The bathroom was large but resembled a disabled toilet, the shower had no partition or curtain and nothing to stop the water flooding the room. There was no towel rail and no space to place anything apart from on the floor, nowhere to put toiletries etc. The towels were left on the dining table, a pile of odd coloured, old, and worn looking towels. The freezer was coated in several inches of ice and clearly needed defrosting. The living area was extremely small and uninviting.

I made the mistake of paying for my stay before looking at the rooms. We did not stay even one night at this hotel, we found another hotel, same price 100 times better and in a nicer location. The hotel staff stated that they would refund my money (except one night cancellation fee), but it would take one week for the bank to process.

I have stayed in many hotels in Bali, most of them 2-3 star, I rarely stay in resorts, I have never before felt the need to cut my losses and run.

The hotel room is big and it is apartment like. For some reason the linen is not white but cream but evenly so i don't know if it is their color of choice or it happen overtime. The staff very rude. The room is smelled. The bathroom also smelled, big but you can't hang or put anything. The pathway to the hotel is dark and creepy dangerous. We should stay for 2 nights but decide to bail on the first night. Don't stay here please. There many nicer place with the same rate

I was ready to stay only for 1 night out of the 5 nights booked after reading various negative reviews in here, but I was so surprised when none of the negative experience happened to me. I travelled with 2 tweens and 1 kid, and stayed in the apartment room type on the 3 rd fl, facing the pool. The apartment has 2 bedrooms, the ACs worked, and it also has a sofa, a medium size TV with HBO and cartoon networks, fridge, a working stove complete with all the cutleries, plates, glasses and mugs should I decided to have a meal inside. We had a small problem with the flush in the bathroom, but the staff was quick on his feet and we didn't have to wait long for the maintenance guy to show up. The room was always tidy and clean whenever we got back from our day activities, nothing's missing. What more can you ask from a hotel? whenever my kids felt like snacking and felt like spending their pocket money, Lawson, circle K and M store were just few feets away. There were souvenir shops, surfing stores, lots of restaurants, bars and spas lining up the streets so residents would hardly ever need to leave Kuta. The hotel had a short cut to Kuta beach, the pool was awesome, all in all, even my cynic tweens truly enjoyed staying in the hotel.

Room Tip: Pick room S3C.

As we were able to book this with 30 minutes notice we expected it to be a bit of a dive, however it was great value and a really good location. There are LOTS of empty rooms which is a bit weird, but overall the beds are comfortable, the air conditioning works, you get a kitchen area, your own bathroom, there was some variety at breakfast and the pool area was superb.

The only problem came in the morning when families decide to use the pool area at 6am. If you are on the ground floor the noise is ridiculous. To be honest there should be time restrictions on a pool which is so close to the rooms.

They also let us have late check out for no extra payment!
Really liked this hotel.

Room Tip: Try to get one that is not on ground floor!

After reading various reviews I thought I would post with a realistic outlook on this hotel. We were travelling as a family and had two children and a baby and this was the best priced hotel I could find that would accommodate that many children without having to go to a resort and pay triple the price. I knew going in that I wasn't going to get a resort level of quality for the money but when got there I was pleasantly surprised as we received a cold drink on welcome and were given a room straight away, even though it was only 11:30am and check in wasn't til 2pm.
Admittingly the first room they gave us was a little run down and the balcony overlooked a rubble pile and the sheets had a few stains. We went to the front counter and the staff showed us a few other rooms and sorted us out pretty quickly. The 2 bedroom apartment we got was enough room for all of us and the beds were comfortable and clean.
Breakfast was also a surprise as when we went down there was plenty of food. It's not a full selection like at the resorts but their is still plenty to choose from and they cook omellettes etc upon request.
The pool was great and the kids loved it. The staff were quick to reply to all requests and were very friendly. The hotel is a fantastic location if you want to be right in the heart of it all and was surprisingly quiet for the area.
All in all for the money this hotel was great value!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a pool view!

The aromas location in legian. Many shop, restaurant, mini market, cafe and pub near in hotel. You gonna very satisfied with all the thing near in hotel but the servive in hotel totally poor. The first day, my balcony cant opened so hotel staf come to my room to fixed it and noisy enough to wake me up. And my friend ask for more pillow, and the pillow is come on the third day. And the water is die when i was on shower. So i cant wash my hair. The room is smell terrible, seriously. And the air condioner is broker, many water out from air conditioner so my room is slippery because of that, my friends room is like that too. But location is good. Average!

First the positive (the only one) - Location: very near to the busy Legian St. where you can get almost anything you want. Within 15mins short cut walk to Kuta beach. It is not advisable to use the short cut late at night though, it can be very dark and quiet. But then again, there are many other hotels located along Legian St.

Now, the negatives. We checked in at 2pm, and was brought to our room, when we found that the glass door to the balcony was not functioning, it could not be locked. And there were no towels and toiletries. As there was no telephone in the room, we had to walk all the way back to the reception area to tell them. The front desk staff told us that he will send someone in 15mins. We waited for an hour and yet there was no one. We met a staff on the way to the lobby and conveyed our message to her, and was promised that someone will be attending to us in 15mins. We waited again, and this time we decided to take our luggages and went to the front desk to ask for a room change. The front desk staff was not apologetic, offered no reasons for not sending anyone. We were so tired and hungry after our flight and wasted all in all more than an hour for a service they could not delivered. We asked to see the manager, was told that he/she was on the weekend break, and never got to see him/her for the whole five days we were there.

They provide safe, but never bothered to make sure that it was functioning. And with no telephone, it was a hassle to request any help at all. The hot water worked for 2mins, and then you get cold shower.

For most mornings, we could get a table for breakfast but the first morning it was so crowded we couldn't get a table. Staff was not helpful. Food selection was horrible, almost the same for all five days. Every morning you see empty packets of sugar floating in the pool, as the restaurant was nearby, and they must have been blown in by the strong wind. Very dirty.

There was stove in the room but no gas, pots or cooking utensils. Strangely, they provide plates and cutleries. But what for? We managed to loan a pot from the kitchen who told us the stove should work, but we found out later there was no gas!

All the time we walked by the front desk, no one really cared. Staff were not friendly. You see the welcome drink glasses lying on the table at the lobby all the time, and for a long time, not being cleared, a sore to the eyes. A lot of times we could also hear staff playing and shouting especially from the restaurant in the afternoon. (The restaurant is only used for breakfast.)

A very disappointing stay here, would NOT recommend to anyone at all.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel.
