We stayed at this hotel while in Bali for a friends wedding. At $60 per night it was a bargain. The rooms were small but neat and clean. The staff were really friendly and tried to help you as much as they could. We had cocktails on the roof one night and the view was great from up there. I'd definitely stay here again.

We checked in to the 101 for a grand total of 1 hour before using the free wifi (literally the only good point) to book ourselves another hotel!
Check in - slow, dismissive staff who look like they really can't be bothered to be there.
Room - no window! Tiny room with barely enough room to walk around the bed. Dirty bathroom. Rang reception to request a change, told no unless we pay.

Thought ok, so long as there are pools to crash out by and a bar we can cope with the room... Went to the 'pool' which was literally nothing more than a puddle. Enough sunbeds for maybe 20 people (in a hotel with over 400 rooms this is not enough!!) and music blasting (down to personal preference I guess). Brochure advertises 2 pools so went to ask for directions to the other one, only to be told no, that's the only pool. Swiftly returned to our cell, sorry, room and booked another (lovely) hotel in seminyak.

Upon checking out we were asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement stating that we would not seek compensation or post reviews or use media to express our views of the hotel. Do not like being told what I can and cannot say so naturally refused.

It's all down to personal preference, and we should have done our research more thoroughly, a lesson well and truly learnt.

Stayed for 2 nights at the 101 Legian hotel. Walking distance to the stretch of clubs. About 10 mins away. ****Tourists do remember to bring your passports or id for free entry, or else you have got to pay for cover. Near enough to walk there, and come back safely without having to spend money taking a cab, but far enough to get away from the bustling night-life to have a well rested night.

It is also 10 mins away from the food alleys, Poppies lane 1 and 2. That's where the good food awaits!

To the beach is about a 20 min walk. But the walk there is quite a scenic one, with shops along the way, so time passes very quickly.

But... Be prepared. With a prime location like this, cabbing back to the hotel from anywhere might take quite some time due to the traffic jams, especially at night. We were stuck in the cab for 15 mins although the hotel was barely 800m away. the jam was so bad that even the cabbie advised us to get out of the cab and walk back to the hotel.
