“First Visit and I Love It”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

We got an invitation to have dine together last night at TAKE and feels bad to say no since we haven't seen them for ages. We are not fans of Japanese food, there is something about the food which we have never find it fascinating except their pretty look. Anyway, we are about 10 pax and we let others to choice what we are going to eat. The crowd is great, the interior is not really over the top which is good sign. The ladies order several kind of food, from soup to something grilled.

I have to say, this is our first time really enjoying Japanese food. I am sure that probably not the best food ever but who cares, we did enjoy our food and to be honest it's not overly price

“Excellent sashimi”
Reviewed August 26, 2012

We have been to Take many times and make it a point to have at least one meal here each time we are in Bali. The sashimi here is very fresh. The butter fish sashimi melts in the mouth! The fresh sea urchin sashimi is so sweet. it eas the best sea urchin I ever had. The expanded restaurant offers more fresh sea food choices.

We also had a live garoupa fish that was cooked two ways. The head was cooked in miso soup and the main body part was steamed. They were both excellent and the fish steamed just right. The steamed fish has a lovely sauce that came with it.

Take probably has the most extensive Japanese menu in Bali. Their bi bim bap and grilled ox tongue are also very good.

“Average, a bit overpriced”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

The food was okay but I thought it was a bit overpriced (Rp 500.000 for 2 person) and I have eaten a lot of Japanese food in Jakarta with better quality and better price. Overall it was okay but probably you can find somewhere more exciting to eat in Legian - unless you were craving for some Japanese food like we were.

“Fresh seafood, Great infra/deco, Average skill set”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

Just finished off a course in TAKE.

By golly, i loved their setup, fresh living seafood on sight waiting for your whimsical finger to have em served fresh on your table.

This place is very Big and serve fresh seafood eg sea urchin, stone grouper and some selected seafood normally not found in KL. Loads of pictures of Jap celebrities hanging on the wall maybe to show its popularity amongst their own community.

Food wise, i felt the chef should have been a little more attentive to the detail cus afterall TAKE is a big name here in BALI for jap and its not a cheap establishment. I mean even if u cant fault these guys cus their raw water itself tasted saltish but hey, the dining experience of a jap meal should be as complete as possible. Perfection is key to bushido hood man... Having a salty ochavis a big no no! So, pls order their AQUA so that your taste bud is preserved.

I ordered otoro and toro sushi to test out the chefs culinary skill but sadly lacking, again in its detail. The rice itself does not hold well soon as you take the first bite, it goes almost explosively sideways , all over your mouth, something which is not desirable for a perfect sushi. The fish slice itself may have been proportionate but again, it closes down on the already ALL OVER THE PLACE Rice. Doesnt feel like sushi. More like chomping a piece of meat in a mouthful of rice.
The cut itself requires some effort on your own to chew the meat, something quite unreasonable for a FAT TUNA BELLY. ( if ever the owner is reading this, i hope you can improve on the detail since BLUEFIN in kuta seem to make sushi eating a culinary experience not to forget, but TAKE is just forgetable for me. )

Price wise, your typical live seafood fare coming up to USD 75/ couple for a complete full lunch.
Verdict : It is a good FULL lunch but Maybe a little on the high side cus it doesnt have the detail.
