Just spent 11 days at the Puri Raja and it was fantastic. Our room was upstairs near the beach pool which was a good size. The balcony was large and private. The staff were so funny and made you feel very welcome. Enjoyed free breakfast overlooking beach. Both pools are great. The front pool is 8 ft deep and less crowded and quite, whilst the other pool has music and a swim up bar. There was live music by Beni the legend on Wednesday nights and he even let me play a few tunes on his guitar.
The wifi was on and off but no big issue.
So many restaurants and shopping just steps away and only 5 minutes walk into the heart of legian.
This is a hotel for all kinds of Aussies as it caters for everyone. We will definitely be coming back next year.

Room Tip: Upstairs was more private

After booking in January 2014 for a 12 day stay July/August and then reading reviews, I was concerned about what we were in for. I read reviews on grey sheets, breakfasts and food criticism and a few other negatives.
How thrilled I was to be greeted by lovely staff, a porter who took us to our room with a thorough explanation of features of the resort on the way to our room and then talked us through using the safe, internet and so forth.
I first checked the sheets, they were perfect, bed was so comfortable and the room far larger than other Bali hotels I have stayed at. Breakfasts were lovely, no banquet option but plenty to choose from (and as included in our very reasonable rate, top notch) The location is wonderful, lovey beach view from the restaurant, a 7 minute stroll to Legian shops and a 20 minute beach walk to Kuta shops.
We had quite a few lunches around the pools (yummy) as well a about 3 dinners. Very good prices, and nice.
With the choice of 2 pools separated, we had the option of the pool with bar and music or the quieter pool (8 foot at deep end....awesome).
There were many people there who have their annual holiday there every year after previously staying at top end facilities, they have nothing but praise, and I feel I will be following the same pattern.
I can't wait for my visit there next year.

We stayed here for 5 nights and really liked the hotel and location. It is little Australia. The hotel rings with Aussie accents. The rooms are good, cleaners were lovely, all staff great. On our first night we were next to some young Aussie surfers who had a party in their room. At 1pm we went to reception and asked to move. They were fabulous. They gave us a key to a room the other end of the hotel to sleep that night and the next morning gave us a choice of another room to go to. The whole thing was handled perfectly. We thought the breakfasts were great. Cannot really find anything to fault. Is a bit noisy around the pools but we went to the beach which was lovely($10 for two lounges for a day). Great. Spot on the beach but away from noisy nightclubs and restaurants, on a part of the road that is blocked off and easy walk to shops and great restaurants. Would return. We thought our room was great upstairs near reception. Next to the quieter pool. Downstairs rooms would be noisier. Internet reception only good in the restaurant or around pools or reception. No internet in the rooms.

Room Tip: We preferred upstairs as tiled floor would mean noisy downstairs. The pool at the front has music an...

This was my 6 th time stay at the Puri Raja. It is in a great location in Legian, the property runs right thru from the beach to the road. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff, right from the gardeners to the managers, always have a warm getting and smile. The inclusive breakfast menu albeit limited is delicious. Shopping and restaurants around the block are great with really not having much need to venture into Kuta. I good walk to Bintang supermarket for supplies and a taxi ride $2.50 into Seminyak for shopping and quality restaurants.

Room Tip: We always request rooms 117 118 or 119 as they are in the centre of the property. And they have an a...

Yet another stay at the Puri Raja! Our room rate was actually reduced a week before we went due to some special they were having. This was a bonus as I have always considered the hotel to be quite competitive with its existing prices (and I have stayed at many places all over the island). As always, we were greeted enthusiastically and assisted promptly and happily to our room. Beautiful spacious room, fresh sheets, clean bathroom and a lovely positive atmosphere. Smiling staff, relaxed guests and two sparkling pools set within a green lush oasis. Fantastic location (the beachfront setting is wonderful from the breakfast sitting) and I think that the community is actively ensuring the beach and surroundings are relatively free of rubbish. I hope it's not too late for this recycling, environmental consciousness to make an impact on Bali. The hotel was very quiet and there was no raucous, wild behaviour (especially by those 'yobbo' Australians- joking), just conversations and lots of laughter. There are little improvements and maintenance projects going on, and if you are unhappy or concerned about anything (room, food or facility wise) then you just need to ask. Realistically, Bali hotels, no matter how many stars, are not always predictable (especially with things like toilets and electricity) but I have found that a polite approach will get the most helpful response when problems arise. If people feel that the Puri Raja is not upmarket enough for them or their sheets are fading, then they may choose to stay elsewhere. While I am not always a great fan of the surrounding traffic and hagglers, I myself will continue to stay at the Puri Raja when I go on the shopping sojourn of my Bali holiday. I love it, from the little squirrels scuttling from tree to tree to the frangipanis scattered across the pathways. The Puri Raja still continues to abundantly meet my needs.

This is a great place for the classic Bali hotel experience. The grand entry/foyer building, the lush well kept gardens, choice of 2 pools, the beach front restaurant. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was awesome - recommend the banana pancakes! The room was clean, cool and well appointed, although we tend not to spend too much time there. (We are always out and about!).
The hotel is well located on the beach (good surf straight out the front) with lots of shops and eating places close by. It is pretty good value for money if you want to stay on the beach. There are cheaper alternatives, one block back from the beach. We had a week here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Only downside was the WiFi was a bit intermittent.

Room Tip: Don;t think it matters too much. None of the rooms have a view as such and all are pretty much the s...

Nice hotel with clean rooms. The staff are very friendly and they try with the food :-)

It is much better and nicer to stay in Legian than in Kuta. Easy walk to Seminyak.

Two outside pools to be enjoyed, with one right next to the restaurant. However, we spent our time at the beach. Found a friendly family who had beach chairs, and the husband was our driver and guide for two days that we spent away from the hotel (very worth it finding out where to go!)

Only complaint is that during one night a very rowdy and drunk group of young tourists were loud and banged on hotel room doors. It took too long for them to be removed. Security should call police straight away, as we know that there was a woman with three little children in the room below us, and it would not have been nice to be woken up in the middle of the night with loud bangs on the door.

Otherwise, great stay!
