We stayed in the family cottage suites August 208 for 3 weeks - could not have asked for better. We have stayed in 4 other hotels and this hotel rates the best for a 3 star. We went back to Bali in 2009 in August and stayed at the Jayakarta Hotel with my family, and would not go back there. Going back to the Melasti in December for 3 weeks and can't wait.

The staff here are extremely friendly and always willing to help you out to make your stay more comfortable. Rooms are large with chunky furniture, I have the bruises to prove this! The rooms are kept very clean and the bed linen was changed every day. Breakfast was delightful, sitting overlooking Legian Beach each morning was such a treat for us, so we took our time and enjoyed the view. The pool area was however a little bit run down and in need of some up lift but on the whole we had a fabulous time and are looking forward to going back in July for another week. Plenty of excellent Restaurants along the beach and also out the resort entrance, with heaps of shopping.

we stayed in this hotel 19/1/2009 and was very happy now 2/3/2010 the detereation was evident, if you want cold showers, hot rooms with no air-conditioner with heaps of ants, dusty smelling rooms then do book here. My child was sick for two days and at check out, we spoke to 4 other guest who all had sick family members. Make you think……

I went to Bali for a girls week away and after booking the Melasti through our travel agent and reading all the terrible reviews on here we were a bit heart broken with our choice. Oh well, after talking about changing to another we decided to go with it .

We are SO GLAD we did!!!! The Melasti was fantastic for a 3 star hotel. We booked a Deluxe room, it was on the ground floor and MASSIVE! The bathroom had 2 showers, a bath, all the room was tiled with beautiful marble tiles. The decor was fine, it had a small fridge, telly, 2 comfy king single beds, tea and coffee making facilities etc, great table and chairs, the bathroom smelt a bit damp, but so does every bathroom in Bali. It was clean and comfortable.

The best thing about our room was the fact it had a lap pool in a lovely little garden literally 3 metres from our room door, that was our view!!!! We could not have been happier!! We had it to ourselves practically the whole time as everyone uses the bigger pools with the bars. It was beyond awesome!! Swim as soon as your up, swim after brekkie, swim when you get home from dinner....it was soooo good!! Squirrels played along the wall and in the garden which was hilarious to watch. Our room was close to reception as well which was handy dropping of the room key etc when we went out. Ask for rooms 170 - 175

The buffet breakfast on the 5 days we were there ranged from great - to pretty suspect, they have bacon every second day it seems, and served up some strange breakfast foods on a few days - like sweet and sour fish sausages, mashed potato, chicken nuggets lol, but there is always fresh fruit, toast and the awesome egg station where you get your eggs cooked any way you like!! Even omelettes!! The restaurant overlooks the beach as well, what more do you want!!

The location is excellent, plenty of shopping and restaurants just outside the front gates or along the beach front. The coldest bintang IS at the corner bar just out the gate, to the left and around 2 turns, so, so cold!!! There is a very cheap phone and internet shop across from the front gate, do not use the hotels phone, it is a complete rip off compared to this guy!!

We can recommend Nine restaurant and Mozzeralla's, great food. The Melasti day spa is okay and reasonably priced, I got my best massage ever there, however a facial was pretty sloppy, but hey, it cost about $12! I recommend going to a nicer hotel and using theirs once. Kumatra/Kumara? up the road a bit was just gorgeous!

I have been told to book a superior room as a minimum at this hotel as the standards are awful, so maybe that is the rooms all the negative reviews are from.

Pool bar is expensive compared to ather places, room service was great most of the time, and the satay sticks and Aussie Burgers are DELICIOUS!! Oh, beware of the ice bags, they are really flimsy, we ended up with it everywhere lol! Staff were great, our cleaner guy was a really good guy and gave us extra free water, tea, towels etc

We loved our stay at the Melasti - I can't wait to go back!
