Came here for daughter's wedding which was two days ago now. We had never been to Bali before but have fallen in love with the island, the people and this hotel. Our total stay will be 15 nights and we do not want to leave. You have to sink into the atmosphere and get used to it. I was so-so for the first three or four days but it has enveloped us now. As I said you have to work out the way of things. They are gentle people hereabouts but need to earn a living and you will get charged for the scarf they give you, or the bus detours, or the taxi sometimes. You can chose to fight the tide or swim with it. Each to their own, but this is heaven for us. It is so romantic that one couple who just turned up for the wedding themselves are getting married today, and two other couples have taken away this hotel's wedding package information. A magic place.

Room Tip: There are lots of options here. It is not cheap by any means, so make sure you understand what you a...

On previous trips to Bali we had stayed at 5-star resorts in Seminyak and Nusa Dua but on our last trip we decided to stay in Legian and try something different. The Bali Mandira was absolutely fabulous. The staff were lovely, the rooms beautiful and the resort amenities perfect. We had Suling Lounge benefits which were definitely worth it. This is our favourite Bali hotel and we will definitely be returning!!

Room Tip: Choose a room with Club Benefits - Definitely worthwhile!

I (with my wife and two kids) went to Bali for a week and stayed at Bali Mandira on 1-Jul to 3-Jul 2013. We had several unpleasant moments during our stay here and will not stay at this hotel again.
First, the hotel tried to force us to use extra bed for all children. Cost USD 25 each. Extra bed should be a choice, not a must. After complaining, they changed the rule and permitted us to stay without have to order an extra bed.
Second, at night we went around the hotel and it started to rain. We called the hotel, asked for someone to help with an umbrella. They refused it mentioning that there was nobody to help. Even when we walked at the security post entering the hotel, they didn't offer us help or umbrella although we saw several umbrellas in the post.

Finally, when we checked out, they charged our children for breakfast although we didn't breakfast at the hotel that day. Ridiculous. It took a lot of time to verify it. When we complained, the staff (name Syahrul) shouted and said that he was not the one who did the check in. It's embarrassing for 5 star hotel. Off course, check in and check out doesn't need to be done by the same person. This should not be an issue as they have the data in the system. We asked to discuss with the manager but the manager didn't come out and just simply removed the charge.

I am not the one who tends to complain. At the same trip, after Mandira, we stayed at Ubud hotel (KajaNe Mua) and it's a very pleasant moment there. Nice staffs and excellent hotel.
We gave rating 5 of 5 for KajaNe Mua hotel.

After spending 3 great nights in Ubud , another 6 nights in Bali Bail Villas( Seminyak -10/10), we arrived at Bali Mandira . We had hoped to finish the holiday at a resort in a relaxing environment . We even got our eldest daughter's boyfriend's family to stay at Bali Mandira .When we got there our rooms weren't ready , no problems we will have a look at the shops . When we got back we found out the new "Super Pool" was not finished as per their website promise 4 weeks ago ,when we made our booking . Our daughters' BF 's family found their room was " vibrating " due to renovations . The hotel management had a poor attitude so much so that BF's family cancelled their room and went next door to the Padma ( which they loved ) - however they did have to pay for one nights accommodation ( they booked direct ), our 3 rooms did not shake but the noise from the jackhammers meant we couldn't relax in the room that afternoon . We took our concerns with the receptionist . They could barely
understand English ( im a landlord that specialises in Indonesian student accomodation )let alone deal with our concerns . We were told we could nt get a refund as we booked through a travel agent . It was 7 pm at night so we couldn't contact our agent . The management claimed they had told our agent the pool was not completed 4 weeks ago . We demanded that we see the email . After 30 minutes we finally saw " a document " but this didn't convince me . at ghus time ,there there was a guest to my right claiming that 2 weeks prior the Mandira's website claimed the pool would be completed by July . He had the same problem .The receptionist denied this !!! At this time of night - now close to 8 pm , with no way of contacting our
agent , we reluctantly accepted a
$10 per person per day food credit and some spa/ massage vouchers . We were tired . If I could have forgone 50% of our monies paid I would have . The hotel is tired , the food average , the location is great , staff friendly but the attitude to complaints and truth is lacking .If Bali Mandira is on your list , pay another 20% and go next door to the Padma. We spoke to many others who were also given the same service ( lack if )! Expect a few more bad reports . I'd also be checking the authenticity of some of the " good and excellent " recent Trip Advisor reports - I'm sorry they don't stack up . We love Bali and we will be back but not to
Mandira .

We stayed at the mandira for the last day of our honeymoon and it closed it with a golden touch. The hotel is very luxurious and despite the main pool being closed for renovation, they still have 2 other pools and gave us a free dinner to compensate - score! Breakfast was the best we had in bali and plentiful with a pancake and omellete station... the whole thing was fantastic

we had massages at the spa and they were expensive but the best we had in our 2 weeks in bali and the hotel lets you check out a bit later if you have to catch a flight etc, so we stayed 2 hours longer instead of having to check out and come back and shower at the pool etc so that was a result. They have a taxi service to the airport which was awesome and half the price we were told it sould cost and the location of the hotel is right infront of kuta beach which is great for surfing and a sandy beach... so overall it was AWESOME. will come back for sure

I definantly enjoyed my stay at the Mandira. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I booked online on the mandira website. The mandira were in contact with me before I arrived to organise free airport transfers, which was fantastic. I got a free room upgrade and felt so welcomed. Breakfast was delicious, and I got complementary dinner as the pool renovation is still ongoing (you would hardly notice the noise) I had 3 massages and would definantly recommend it to anyone as it was very relaxing. I had dinner at the parasol restaurant and that was also great. The only bad thing I will say is that there were mosquitos in my room :/

My friend had her wedding at the Mandira (which is why I stayed there) and everyone had a fantastic time.

This a very friendly place in a great location on the beach front at Legian. The staff are exceptionally friendly, which makes up for the current hassles with the pool building going on. The bathroom was a nice outdoor one, but was a bit smelly. While the rooms were good, they don't live up to the price and the pillows were rock hard! The spa is gorgeous and well worth a visit or 3 for an excellent massage in a beautiful setting. We look forward to returning when the fancy new pool complex opens - although i fear the prices will go out of control.

Room Tip: Bungalows up near the beach end are best
