Spent 19 nights at Mandira in May. Overall the stay was fantastic. The rooms in the back block are feeling outdated, but the beds and pillows were super comfy. The service from the staff in the entire hotel was excellent. We were very lucky to have Gede as our room attendant, and he was so lovely and helpful and had us laughing every day. The new pool was in final stages of completion and it looks as though it will be a wonderful addition. We used the infinity pool every day which was never overcrowded. To compensate for lack of pool we received a free evening meal that we tried on a couple of occasions, but I would rate it as very ordinary and we preferred to eat out at local venues. The breakfast selection was great and the egg and pancake station was our favourite. The grounds in the hotel are very well maintained and the proximity to shops and restaurants and beach cannot be beaten. Good value for money for the deal we received, but not sure what prices will be with the opening of new pool.

Overall a very good setup for a hotel, resort and relaxation space. The complimentary meal inclusions are satisfactory, but one should still venture out for local food (if you can find any real local food in this tourist mecca).
A note that children are NOT allowed in the rooftop infinity pool area, but all the children and families we saw were having a great time at the temporary pool.
Staff excellent and helpful, updated rooms great, non-updated adequate, with really just the bathroom needing a re-model. Clean, Immaculate Gardens and ambiance, so convenient to walk across to the beach, back to restaurants and shops etc.
When the new pool is ready, the Bali Mandira will definitely go up a level.

Room Tip: Ground level terraces face the gardens and passer by foot traffic, 1st and 2nd... level floors have...

Took my 14yr old daughter for 10 days and this hotel met our needs perfectly. Beautiful gardens and a lovely pool. Breakfast was delish and plenty of choices. Staff were fantastic and as we were travelling as 2 females we had extra service and felt very secure. The rooms are dated but clean and in a quiet spot. The squirrels on the balcony were a highlight for my daughter. There were mozzies hanging in our room as the drainage was poor in our bathroom however we asked for and received mozzie repellent plug ins which helped. The spa treatments were lovely and affordable which was a plus. The location is fantastic and it is a great area to be based. Stayed at Padma next door and they are both lovely hotels - would be happy at either.

Jus bac after 5 day stay. Pool not finished but will be brilliant when it is. Adult infinity pool great up stairs. Free Buffett at night and good food. Breakfast lovely but wish finished at 11am for those lazy mornings. Staff fantastic. Rooms very clean but wish bathroom bigger and more up to date. Was my birthday and received complimentary flowers with card. Very thoughtful and made day. Beds (twin) big and comfortable. Pillows good. Would recommend hotel. Fantastic. We arrived on Saturday and spent Sunday morning looking at different resorts to stay in. We moved to the Mandiraresort today as they are offering a great deal due to pool renovation. We are in a superior room and there is plenty of room for the 3 of us and it is so clean and the staff are just wonderful. We have not eaten here yet but the breakfast we saw this am looked great and the beach is right across the road to enjoy while eating.
They also provide free dinner at the moment so we will try tonight but will still venture out to eat as well. The temporary pools are fine and kids are ok to use the wonderful infinity pool while Reno is on. The gardens are beautiful and plenty of sun lounges and umbrellas today . My 9 yr old daughter enjoyed painting an egg today at kids club. It offers a good variety of activities over the week and has a room set up for little ones 1-5 ish to play in. I'm not sure but I think it is a temporary spot while Reno being done.. It is located close to pools so you can pop in if needed.
The reason I did not book prior to arrival was because I was unsure about Reno noise and pools but an opportunity to stay here at this price was too good as there is very little noise and the temporary pools have been done very well.
The position in Legian is ideal with easy access to beach, food, markets and walking distance to Kuta.
We are now going to have to save really hard to stay next year as the new pool is going to be absolutely amazing!
If you are hesitating about booking we recommend you jump in. Especially if you are like us beach people for the day and pool people for a couple of hours during the day

I spent a few days at Bali Mandira during a rcent trip to Bali.
First time I stayed there was in the late 1980's and it was then an oasis of civilisation and comfort in what was then a relatively undeveloped area with lots of low budget losmands in Kuta.
A great location with direct beach access and lots of shops, stalls and resturants nearby.
Bali Mandira is still all those things and is now an oasis of calm amid the chaos of Kuta.
An easy place to retreat to with all variety of things in walking distance - an important thing in what is becoming a vehicle clogged area.
Rooms and bungalows are clean and well equipped. The staff are friendly and most long term employees of this local family run hotel.
When we were there in June 2013 the main pool area was undergoing a major renovation. This did not affect our stay but when this is finished in August the place will be really nice with a family Beach club feel.
The rack rate may seem high but there are some good package deals which include Mandira and upgrades and discounts possible.
A great place for families and groups.

Room Tip: There are lots of different room types but all good. There are some interconnecting rooms and bunga...
