“A place to return and feel home.”

Again we stayed at the Bali Mandira. Still the same upmost friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic breakfast, good (free) buffet dinner due to pool renovation. Nice clean room with a very good sleep. We certainly will be back to this fantastic and convenient located gem north of Kuta. Only one advise to the management: After the pool upgrade please also upgrade the Wifi, which is to slow and totally unreliable. The one and only minus point of your hotel!

I chose the Bali Mandira because of the fantastic reviews on this site, did not live up to the high reviews; It began almost straight away;
1. The water wouldnt drain away from the shower so my friend had to stand in my old shower water to shower.
2. Next day after waking up with itchy eyes from all the mould in the air, showered again same thing. Got maintenance in they plunged the drain and a huge surge of black gunk came out of the drain and you could not stay in the room. The bathroom stench permiated the entire room.
3. We requested a change and had to wait 3 hours in the baking sun because you couldnt go in the room, We were showed 2 rooms which were so small compared to what we had booked, and one also had a mouldy bathroom. Offerred upgrade at 1/2 the upgrade rate ! What the?
I said why would we pay to upgrade when you cant give us a room equal to what we had?
However, we decided we would pay $50 a night and no more. The Duty Manager said "i will think about it". He was very cocky and unapologetic.
Then i said well that is fine, please refund our money including the crap night we had spent and we will leave. Magically a room became available that had a beautiful clean bathroom. Not as big as the original but pretty good.
After 3 hours we were moved in, we missed our planned activites for the afternoon.

We did never get any type of apology or anything to compensate for all the inconvenience. NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Tips
1. Check carefully the bathroom you are getting for mould and blocked drains.
2. Make sure there are no weddings on as the pool was CLOSED at 4pm for the wedding and the music was that loud people couldnt sleep 11.30pm. (we had two weddings in 6 days) And, because of the pool being built there is limited space. The second wedding because of complaints they erected a bamboo fence which blocked the view to beach from the pool. The alternative was to sit in front of the new pool building site! I need say no more.
3. Dont think you can sit under an umbrella they had 4 mismatched and one 1/2 broken umbrellas for the entire place. The pool chair covers were marginal.

Additional comments: The food is second rate.
The staff were no where near as friendly as other places i stayed this trip and often inattentive to the point you had to ask for tea coffee refills and they would walk past without acknowledgement.

If you have difficulty climbing stairs dont stay as there are stairs everywhere and no lifts including getting to the pool, the beach and the Parasol restaurant (breakfast).

on check out not even a question "How was your stay? We paid a lot per night for this treatment NEVER AGAIN.

I will stay at The Legian Beach Hotel which has the most beautiful grounds, staff, sparking new spa for your favorite treatment, swim up pool bar, slightly tired spotless rooms including bathroom (but how much time do you spend in your room) and i think probably the best breakfast over 2 floors with pancake and waffle bar in Bali for much less a night. Oh and a lift if you have difficulty with stairs. Beautiful beachfront with ample beautiful umbrellas and lazy boy chairs overlooking the beach The tables were always beautifully set with with table cloths and flowers fresh every day.

Room Tip: When you check in if you decide to stay check the room bathroom before you accept. Mould can cause...

We stayed at the Bali Mandira in March for 10 days in a standard room which was very nice at the back of the hotel but still easy to get to every area of hotel.  All the staff were very pleasant and friendly, the grounds were lovely and clean & well maintained. The Adults only pool was great but on a couple of occasions during our stay a young baby was at the adult pool crying, maybe they could not read the sign!  It was great that you were not to save lounges by putting your towel on them and then going off out shopping I think all hotels should have this rule, first I have come across for a long time.  Breakfast was lovely especially out the front overlooking the beach.  The hotel is in a great location and just great to go onto the beach & watch the sunset at the local beach bar and chat to the locals, will definitely go back again.

This holiday to Bali was with girlfriends to celebrate our 50th birthdays...one of my firends is a regular at the Mandira, i have only stayed atKuta/Tuban, however found this motel to be excellent. It is opposite a safe, relative clean beach, as opposed to Kuta that has so much more rubbish and also-Mandira is not as crowded. We were able to relax at sunset on very comforatble seating, before wandering down the closed street that is parrellel with the motel, to the many restauarants that are avaiable--very similair to Tuban. The spas is excellent and not as espensive as other resorts--average Australian $30. There are many shops within a short two minute walk. The breakfast menu was great...the only downside i can review is the bathroom-we stayed in 808-had glass walls, as did all the rooms my friends had (810 and 802) so it was a bit intimidating at first for privacy, there is a blind that can be pulled down to cover part of the glass, however it didn't feel as private if the door completely blocked.

Room Tip: we stayed in room 808;;very quite and private on the second floor. there are some rooms on the groun...

Being our first trip to Bali and wanting to de-stress my husband and I spent days on TripAdvisor searching for hotels. We decided on the Bali Mandira. The best choice we made. Being seasoned travelers mainly to Europe we had something to compare to. We found the Club Deluxe too small if we wanted to stay in, so we opted to upgrade to the Vila with private pool. That was the best choice we made. Room is huge and with the glass walls you bring the outside in. The sunken bath opening to the pool area if you wish, the huge shower, the King size bed, the stocked fridge, the fruit bowl, the twice a day service and turn down of the sheets, the lights on when we got back, the hidden lights in the room, the airco working perfectly, the warm water in the pool, the ambiance, all amounted to a holiday we will never forget. The staff, whether the cleaners, gardeners, or reception staff are so friendly and nothing is too much for them. I didnt go the the Spa for my massage as they are too pricey but opted for the Malasti which was terrific. A cab drive of $1 got you there, or you can walk.
Breakfast was overlooking the Ocean, a cool breeze, and so much choice of what to eat! The free dinner was ok but we chose to eat out.
The location is perfect!
All in all, we would go there again in a heartbeat!

The hotel is located right at Legian Beach. It's a perfect location if you would like to make a trip down to Seminyak, walk out to Jalan Legian / Jalan Padma, or having a guided tour down to Bedugul area. Quiet and tranquil - far away from pubs and clubs. Clean and spacious room with friendly and excellent service! - went to the extra mile to make arrangement for me with a watersports company. Long story short, tranquil and relaxing resort, excellent service, excellent location with great value for money! (:

The Hotel was located right oposite Legion Beach, set in nice green lawns and garden, with many traditional Balanies scultupes and a beatiful raised infinity pool. The tradional Balanies Dancing was of high standard. Our villa room was beautiful and very private so very relaxing.
Not a large hotel and currently having a renevation on the third pool which will only enchance the setting.

Room Tip: We started with a cottage, very nice, but mid week upgraded to a villa, wonderful. The villas are ve...
