Visited here last night with my wife based on high TA rating. We like visiting new venues before they get so popular that they are overrun. The restaurant is in a popular area of Kerobokan, across the street from Sardine and a short walk from Metis. Stiff opposition indeed and the owners, apparently 4 guys from Oz, have obviously jumped straight in at the deep end with this venture. They have spared no expense on the space itself, a lavishly decorated large open room with an upstairs area at one end and downstairs seating arranged around a large central island bar which would be a great spot for cocktails even if not staying for dinner. The theme is south American tapas style small plates. Our choices were all good, battered fish tacos, pickled beetroot salad, green beans in anchovy butter, and suckling pig which was especially well cooked, juicy with fat properly rendered and tasty crackling. My personal favourite was the beans which were some of the best ive tasted anywhere. A special mention to our wait staff who tried very hard to ensure we were looked after. Some nice wines by the glass including a NZ pinot and a nice chianti. Total cost just under 1 million including coffee but excluding dessert. I wish the owners all the best with this venture in a very competitive market.
