“Yes, Italian Style Pizza (If That's Your Thing)”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

Having had our fair share of Italian pizza in Italy, this is very Italian. Nice crust, sauce spread too thinly, and toppings more for decoration than for filling one's stomach. Sorry, but we prefer American Italian pizza (NY, Chicago) than "real Italian." We only had this delivered and can't vouch for anything else. Delivery was free in the local area. But we also tried another place much closer to us (no free delivery) and not listed on TA. Overall we were as happy if not happier with this local place. So if you do visit the restaurant, maybe try the dishes and only one pizza rather than two pizzas and no dishes.

“Some of the food is great, but...it's very bistro-y”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

We ordered garlic bread (huge chunks of garlic on bread, not toasted), caprese salad (OK but not super great tomatoes) to start. We made a deal that if one of eats that garlic bread we both have to. One bite and we were out. It was not good.

You're sitting on the edge of a carpark, in what could best be described as a La Porchetta-style bistro, in a carpark. The venue is not great. Checkered tablecloths and standard restaurant chairs would be quaint in a smaller venue, but this is brightly lit, has a Coke fridge and a glass cake fridge and is all open. Nothing cosy about it.

The mains were OK. I had the a gnocchi and the handmade gnocchi was lovely. My partner had a meat pizza and didn't love it.

Look, it's well priced (maybe $65 for 2 courses, 2 beers and Pellegrino) but really, you could be in a suburban pizza joint. If you're on holiday to enjoy the scenery, the food, the hospitality....all of that the 'Bali way' then skip this one. There are a heap of gorgeous places that will remind you that you're on holiday to relax and enjoy it all, not just to find somewhere to eat that's not too different from home.

Couldn't fault the service though - I should mention that. One of our waiters had the most brilliant and genuine smiles I've seen. It made my night.

“Authentic Italian cuisine in Bali! Autentica cucina italiana a Bali!”
Reviewed June 17, 2012

I was so happy to finally eat real pizza and pasta again after traveling for over a year. The prices are fair and the selection of dishes is appropriate for a good, REAL Italian restaurant. If you don't like the food here then you don't like real Italian food.

The service was efficient and friendly. The portions good. In perfect Italian style you get welcomed with complimentary grissini (bread sticks) and a dip and I was even offered limoncello at the end of my meal.
It is slightly more expensive than your good Warung, but the price are very reasonable for the quality you get. Fresh pasta, sauces made with choice and fresh ingredients. Expect to spent around 8-9 usd for a pasta dish and a cool drink and perhaps 30-40 usd if you go for a starter, primo piatto, main course and wine. So all in all the prices seemed very very reasonable, especially if you consider the quality and authenticity of the cuisine.
The pizza was very good, wood oven, crust just perfect, good tomato base and excellent quality mozzarella considering that Italy is not around the corner. One day I had a salad that had fresh ingredients and it was nice to be able to dress it with proper olive oil and balsamico. The salad was perhaps a bit small. I also had tagliatelle al ragù (bolognese) and this was a real treat! The cakes are good, but freshest at lunch time I felt, sometimes by evening they had gone a tiny little bit stale. So all in all: friendly staff, welcoming owners, authentic Italian food, very reasonable prices and a nice, tasteful environment... perfect place for couples, friends, business encounters, families or even to savor a great meal in solitude.

Apparently the Italian buffet is amazing, unfortunately I never made it for the buffet.

“Saturday night smorgosboard...fantastic!!”
Reviewed June 9, 2012

If you are in Bali, don't miss the Saturday night smorosboard at La Rustica in Batu Belig.
The food is traditional home made Italian with a huge variety. There is a large selection of vegetables, fish, beef and of course pizza and pasta. Each dish is unique and the dishes change as finished and replaced with another, different, dish. But be careful, it is so great that you can easily over eat. One of our table, a 20 year old male stated "this is the best meal, I have ever had, sorry Mum". The owners and Nonna regularly wander through the restaurant asking if you are enjoying your meal, they are genuinely interested in your feedback. At only 175,000rp per adult, it is a bargain as well as being truly magnificent food. Don't eat luch on the day your are going and don't forget to book.

“Great pizza best in Bali”
Reviewed May 24, 2012

We have only just discovered this little gem. It's not well known yet but it will be. We shared 2 pizzas and the crusts are thin just like in Italy and very tasty. The service couldn't have been better and they have their red wine in carafes at the right cooler temperature which really impressed us as not even the more established places know to do this. Very handsome manager too
