menu is so incredible you can't lose but because its 4000 miles away i kept going back to the snapper clay pot masterpiece for every visit coupled with the best cocktail i have ever tasted - the coconut mojito. the food is soooo good it makes you giggle and i could be ordinarily described as hard to impress. this is my first review - that's how good this place is - a million thanks to you chef and crew xxxx

I visited here with my family twice on a trip to Bali - once was not enough as we loved it so much! The decor was very hip and cool but at the same time very welcoming. The staff were very friendly and good. I have to say the first time we went the service was faultless and the second time there were a few hiccups but nothing terrible.
The food is simply divine! There were so many things we wanted to eat that it was hard to decide what to have. We ordered lots of little things and shared and our favourite dishes were the crispy lamb ribs, pork hock, lamb and pumpkin gyoza, steamed baramundi, peking duck, twice cooked pork ribs and fried ice cream with nutella! Actually, nothing was bad at all. It is a must if visiting Bali as the food, ambience and service are great! Loved it.

This restaurant was recommended by friends..It's a beautiful place, GREAT cocktails and the menu is extensive...We went as a group of four (Make sure you book in advance), ordered a bunch of tapas to share...the short bbq pork ribs were delicious!

The prices are expensive for Bali...but less than you'd pay in Australia. The food was beautiful...would love to go back and try the other dishes.

Overall i liked Mamasan however it didn't blow me away. The decor and venue are great however you really could just be in Melbourne. Drinks are good - the coconut mojito was great! The food was mostly good but for whatever reason not memorable - i struggle to recall what i ate and it was only a week or so ago! I'm not sure what happened with a previous reviewer when he said you need to dress up and a friend who was wearing a polo was asked to put on a dress shirt but on the Sunday night when we were there the majority of people were casually dressed and in fact there was several tables of guys just in tshirts or tank tops with shorts - no mention was made of a dress code when i booked and i didn't see any notices saying such

Hi Craig,

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience at Mama San.

As a restaurant which is quite slick, smart and urban in style, we do have a dress code for guests and it is graciously mentioned on a notice at the entrance.

While we appreciate that Bali is a small tropical island where singlets, boardshorts and flip-flops are very popular - and do have their place, of course - we have created a venue which is a more polished sanctuary for guests who do want to dress up a little more when they head out to enjoy a meal with friends or family.

Of course, this is something which we sometimes need to show our own discretion with, on a case by case basis, as not all singlets are of the Bintang variety, and smart dress shorts can sometimes be appropriate in a hot climate.

We hope that this will help our guests to enjoy their visit to Mama San in every way, and remember it as somewhere that really did feel like a world away from the hustle and bustle of the streets and beaches outside.

Thanks again for the feedback - it is always appreciated!

Mama has it all. Amazing food, great decor, lovely staff and the best iced teas I have ever had. We had lunch there twice in three days. Dinner on another night.
