“Fantastic Indo/Asian Cafe!”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

Went to Cafe Degan with work colleague and friends for the first time and my first thought it would be "just another indo restaurant" as there isn't anything specific or unusual about the restaurant decor. As we are group of 8 people, we ordered couple of dishes to share, from urap (some kind of dried vegies and coconut), squid, braised beef (i have no clue what it's called in indo), lamb satay and Thai green curry (supposedly this place is also famous for it's thai food) and I was definitely blown away! The beef was cooked to perfection, the vegies are nice, the squid was fresh and the Thai green curry stole my heart! Not too mention, in an odd way, it's 80s western background music somehow compliments the food and ambiance of the restaurant!

Overall it's definitely one of the restaurant in Seminyak worth a visit when you just wanna try some indo food (without any specialty to being balinese food). I have dined there twice over the last 2 weeks and still rave about it. Well done, Indo master chef guy!:)

“Disappointed”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

I had read all the reviews before going to the restaurant and was expecting some fabulous food, however chose the Thai menu and found food lacked flavour. Fish was overlooked. Service was excellent, no atmosphere, only two other people in restaurant.

“Amazingly delicious and cheap food!”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

We went there last Saturday for dinner. We didn't book, and I don't think it would have been busy enough to warrant a booking.

The food was stunning. We ordered mainly from the Indonesian menu, with the exception of the Thai green mango salad. We had a whole fish, plus some other sides, and everything was perfect. We are thinking about going back again tonight as we know it's cheap and tasty.

The service was impeccable, if a little rigid. If the staff were to relax just slightly it would be perfect.
